RE: Really really nervous!!

Hi BlueEyes,

"Not coping very well"

Well at least your hands are still steady enough to allow you to type - that's not a bad start at coping.

And at least all your fears and worries are the usual and appropriate ones for someone in your situation. Thus :

1. I wont wake up! silly i know! - Yes you will.

2. The needle to put me asleep, i am petrified of needles! - Ask your GP or the staff for a pre-med, 5 mg diazepam is usual. This will relax you so that you won't even notice or remember the injection.l

3. laying there with fi fi out infront of loads of people and not know whats going on! silly i know!! - Not silly, but irrelevant as those few staff who will be present will be too busy with what they are doing to notice you and your bits.

4. My Db cant be with me - Would you really want him to be there in view of 3. above?

5. I will wake up to bad news! - This is most unlikely unless there is already a medical history suggesting problems. And if this is the case then the information is essential for you in planning how you are going to conceive your baby.

Good Luck for Friday.

Hey BlueEyes

Bless you hon, you will be fine. I know how you feel, I always worriy about every little thing before a procedure - it runs through my head on loop! DH is my calming influence and is always telling me not to worry about things I cannot change and have no control over - easier said than done I know.
Best of luck for the 4th xx

BlueEyes (what a lovely name!) if it helps this is exactly how I felt! All what you mentioned I was worried about but it wasn't bad, honestly! I promise you will wake up and as for fi fi, oh really... by now I don't care at all, who looks at it (before I never had man gyn!), think this way - they have seen it million of times... bad news - in my case they were not good but... they sorted I believe one thing (removed septum) so 6months later I got PG... This is good thing to do - lap, so think this way - it's one step towards your dream! good luck and honestly - it's not bad, not at all! (as I said I felt exactly like this, also I had to have c-seciton, I was scared to death but now I think it was great! yes - great! quick and painless!) Good luck and you will be fine!

Aww hun i think everyone gets scared when there going in for a op i have had this op and you will be just fine babe. The needle is nothing you wont feel a thing, i dont like needles my self but it all happens so quick and there really lovely and very calming and chat to you and your to busy answering there questions that you say oh is the needle done :snigger: then they say somthing like whats your favourite colour and you dont get to answer because your asleep :snigger: i have almost lost count of the amount of times i have been put out, ops & mulitple D&CS, you will wake up silly, i know what you mean about dh not being able to be there, my dh could wait for me at the ward bedside this is not allowed in some hopsitals though, although it should be. Is there someone that can pick you up they recommend you have someone to pick you up after the op incase your not feeling your 100% self. Dont be worrying about what the outcome of the op will be fx it will be good news xx

p.s having them see your flower < thats my nice word of a vagina :snigger: well the same doctor has seen mine over 13 times and he is my gyno who i see all the time :O just think of how mnay flowers
foo foo what ever you call it :snigger: they see, they see millions it wouldnt phase them if someone flashed there flower to them, they must get bored of seeing them :snigger: if you asked that question they would say yep! a bet a man never thought they would never say that :snigger:

Hi honey,

Please try not to worry about it. It is scary when you first go in, especially when DH isn't there. On my first lap I was scared cos DH wasn't there and I was really worried but they were really lovely. Tinkerbell is right about the questions, the anaesthetist was asking me about where I work and what I did and he got the canula in first time (it usually takes them loads of attempts). I also woke up silly! I was asking my recovery nurse all sorts and told her she was lovely. When I had my appendix out I was so out of it when I went to theatre I asked the doc in there what he did and told him he was hot while trying to grin sexily!!

I'm terrified of needles too. But now, when you have so many throughout this process you sort of get used to them, the fear is still there but its not as bad as you think because you know what to expect. I know they do have some numbing cream they can put on your hands to stop you feeling anything. I'd ask for that, it will make you feel better.

As for having them see your flower (I love that, I call mine lady areas!) you'll be asleep. I had the campest male medical student the first time ask if he could do my internal exam while I was under and the second lap I had a really posh student ask if she could do mine! I just thought, I'm gonna be asleep and I have tidied up down there so its ok!!

If anything its the blue dye staining the bottom of the bath I'd worry about!! No one told me about all the dye that leaks out of you! And how much you will laugh and make it hurt! I got out the bath and DH nearly wet himself laughing because there was blue bum cheek marks on the bottom of the white bath!!

OH MY!! MALE MEDICAL STUDENT!! I have just fallen off of the sofa reading that.... i cant have a boy the same age as me doing that, asleep or not! I just want to cry! Has any one else ever been asked by a medical student for a poke around?? :snigger:

I remember when i went for a blood test a few months ago a student nurse asked to take my blood, i nearly fell on the floor. I Had to sit down and completely refuse to let her do it (even though they were pressuring me to let her!) I had to have the qualified nurse do it :snigger:

Im just trying not think about it.

Tinkerbell - My partners mum is taking me and collecting me, so thats really sweet of her!

Hello there!

I had a lap and dye about 3 months ago and like you I was terrifed, especially after my partner sending me this link from 'The Green Wing' :cross:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=idoqr6D-mN0&feature=related.

It was actually absolutely fine. The idea of the needle is so much scarier than actually getting it and I've already had so many needles already during this ttc process that I'm becoming immune!

I don't know if this will appall you but I was on AF during my op and they kindly gave me a nice new sanitary towel and took away the old one, plus a tampon that I thought I could get away with wearing .....I find myself unable to look the RE in the eye now during follow up appointments. I like to think it was a nice, female student nurse who 'cleaned me up' ! I think you just have to sigh, shrug and accept that these guys live in a world filled with vaginas of all shapes and sizes and must be pretty indifferent to them.

I was terrifed of the results but had decided that whatever the outcome it was win win. Good news if they don't find anything, good news if they do and there's an explanation and something that can be fixed. I actually cried when they didn't find anything as I really really wanted some answers as to why I can't get pregnant.

The painkiller they give you afterwards are quite nice and floaty and you'll have the best sleep the following night that you've ever had in your life! Then a couple of days later you'll feel fine (I did anyway)

My DB forgot to pick me up actually and the nurse had to ring him twice. Spurs were on telly. I dined out on that one for days!

You'll be fine hon. xx

Hey blueeyes, I've not been online, because as ya know I've been recovering & been lazy :snigger:

Today will be fine, in fact if you wa an early 1, you'll be out now

I realised that tbh, it doesn't matter your DB isn't there, because you go in alone, & come out alone. They only drop & pick ?( So you won't miss him

And if I got good news, I'm sure yours will be as well, afterall, as said above, there's no reason why not is there

xfingers for you hun & can't wait 2 hear from you. Hope you are ok

Hi alll!!!!

Im home!! feeling ok, just in a bit of pain with trapped ait under my ribs and back (which is more painful than i thought!)

No pain in my stomach as of yet! Feeling well, just a bit tired.

Thank you all for everything, i wouldnt want to do it agian but it wasnt terrible.

Ive got to book an app to see the surgeon after as he didnt come back round but i managed to have a sneak peak at his notes because the nurse had them, notes said tubes all clear, dye spilled out. No sign of damage, no Pelvic Inflamotory Disease and no endo. So i am over the moon with that. Just need an appointment now to discuss where we go from here.

Any ideas or past experiences of it being all clear, where do you go from here?

Amy- how are you getting on with your recovery?? Hope you are ok x

Thank you ladies!!

Hello

Glad to hear it went so well! I was given the all clear as well. It was frustrating for me as it put me in the unexplained bracket which means lots of waiting and wondering. It's still a hopeful prognosis, just a frustrating one!

Hiya Mrs!!

Sooooooo pleased that it all went well, and in one way that they haven't found anything, this is positive (if you know what I mean!!)

My lap and dye went fine too, didn't find anything at all. It wasn't until I got OHSS while on clomid that they discovered I have one polycystic ovary! They were going to put me in the unexplained category until this happened. All they knew with me was that I didn't have AF's and I wasn't ovulating. I don't have any symptoms of PCOS, I'm not overweight, don't have excess hair, and my bloods were all ok too. It was literally because (I think) I had a really knowledgable cons. He told us he used to do IVF and I think he found infertility interesting and was really quite into it, especially as I was a bit of a mystery, because apparently its quite rare to just have one PCO.

What I'm trying to say honey is never give up hope. Even when you think there's no where left to look. Wait till you see the cons and see what he has to say.

Good luck honey!!

i had a follow up appointment 2 months after the op. I was quite upset about that as I was told i would have one 2 weeks after. The follow up appointment was a complete non event. He just said everything was fine, that we couldn't do IVF for another year and then sent me packing with a prescription for clomid (which I haven't taken). Sigh.

Aramass - I have to phone on Monday to get an app but he did say that it would most likely be after the new year now. Which is understandable but i hope that its not 2 months!!

How come you have not started the clomid yet? Is it not the right time or are you just not keen to take it?

Well the reason I haven't taken the clomid is that I started acupuncture and herbs and starting using opks more rigorously. It turns out I ovulate pretty regularly therefore I didn't see the point. i think I over researched/over thought it as the consensus on the internet was that there's no point if you are already ovulating. Another pretty important reason was that I gave up smoking 7 weeks ago. I think going on Clomid and going more psycho plus putting on even more weight could have been doubly dis-spiriting!

Do you think I should take it then? I have an appointment with the RE at the beginning of Jan and I'll discuss it then. Do you think he'll tell me off for not taking the clomid??
