It would be wonderful if we had some of the men here talking about stuff .
For my dh its not so much that he will not, more than he just feels he has nothing much to say , mind you I think its all still a bit to fresh for him.
Maybe in time when he has come to terms with it all more he will come back again x

Still in the absense of the guys at least us Ladies have somewhere to chat and talk about it .

I guess we're doing "decent" considering the circumstances. My AF is late and had we not had the dx yesterday that would have gotten us very excited so now it's just sad. And we're calling clinics, so far one of the two we're thinking of said they haven't even heard of mTESE and all they can do is TESE after a biopsy so it's a bit of a disappointment.

How are you?

I know hun, I know, its not a nice place to be , we are only 4 months down the line from finding out, you know strange as it sounds it does get better, in that you will come to terms with it and it becomes part of everyday life if that makes sense x
Dont get me wrong I still have some very very dark days but that tends to be when I allow myself to think about to many possible outcomes , The best advice I ever heard was to just deal with each day and try not to focus to far ahead x

So when you say you are looking for clinics ,I take it , its not like the uk then , here you are refered straight to the clinic from your doctors x
So when do you expect the results of the hormone profile? x

The RE said he'll call the Viking with the results on Monday. I instructed him to get exact values as well as labels as in "bad, good, etc" and to ask what he thinks is the next step and when we can meet asap to discuss our options.

I really don't know how it will work as the system here is very state driven and most healthcare is rather poor as it's state paid however slowly some clinics are starting to have a private side as well and it's the only two private ones we're thinking of (maybe 3 or 4 in the capital but these are the most well known ones). It's possible that part of his treatment is covered since this IS after all a serious diagnostic and we are paying almost 60% of our income in taxes but if it is not that's life, we'll be paying for it ourselves. (Well mostly me as my job includes potential compensation if I do well whereas his is a fixed income.)

So to answer it, no we won't get referred to a certain place, I don't believe so.

ok I am confused about a few things ?( not hard with me I am afraid ! :snigger:

What is a RE?
Whats Viking?
When you say exact values are you refering to them checking it more throughly to make sure they havent mised one or two and the good/bad of those?

after all a serious diagnostic, Yep I agree 100% still in the uk unless you fit thier ivf/icsi criteria matters not how serious it is

Here's what http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viking were/are. 8) As for My Viking that's my mister :) That's what I call him.

The results we shall get Monday are of his hormonal levels so I want him to jot down exact values such as LHS 3, T/E 12:4 etc.

I don't quite follow though. They said the results are low. That sounds very good, doesn't it? It's elevated levels that confirm genetic or NOA, right? Low results may mean that there are ways in which his hormonal system may be jump started?

That is true, if it is low can be jump started , maybe if its birth low hormones like hypogodnadism but tbh he most likely dosnt have this, none of the signs i.e normal destended testicals etc..
The other causes can be tumours on the pituatary gland which again he has no problem with vision or headaches and stuff so dont think its this ethier .
so we have no idea as to why and whats happening.
In a wonderfull world can just be fixed with some hormones and stuff but he will have to have mri scans etc. first to rule out any dodgy causes.
It could be a good thing , but treatment is not always sucessfull for this.
most men from what I read still only manage to produce enougth for use with ivf/icsi and it takes two years of hormone treatment before you even get that far down the line, if thats what the cause  some days it does my head in!
