Starting to panic about which clinic to go to re our ofertility problems, has anyone visited St Judes clinic in wolverhampton and had any success stories?

Hi, not heard of that one. I used BMI priory in Birmingham, Mr Sawer, he was FANTASTIC!!! AND he has a GREAT success rate!! xxx

My friends sister had a few iui's and Ivf too, all failed but that doesn't mean it's not good!! Can you get success rates from HFEA and compare with local ones?? xxx

I'm at the Priory in Bham too. Can't tell you if it's successful yet but the nurses are wonderful and explain everything clearly. We will live in Worcester which is 30 miles away too. It takes about 40 minutes to get there through roadworks which isn't so bad! I don't really notice the distance.

Diddle - I've just heard that Mr Sawer is doing mine so that is great news as I've never met him before! Every little helps as they say!

We are at the begining of our journey and we have our first private consultation at St Jude's satelite clinic in Newcastle under Lyme next week, any info, advice, tips or experiences of this clinic would be much appreciated.
I have been on the HFEA website and got info from there, but just wanted personal expereinces - very honest ones please.

I am also in the process of writing a huge list of questions for the first appointment, so any thoughts on that would also be great

The con was lovely, we were very impressed with how relaxed he made us feel, we came away from there feeling excited and positive. DH has a SA booked for 5th Aug, I am in the process of trying to get my HSG results from my GP in letter form (had HSG done a few years ago, with ex partner) but as GP is on holiday for 2 weeks it is kinda holding things up, I am calling the clinic in the morning to ask them to send another letter to the surgery but with no name, so at least it will be opened and hopfeully actioned.
We are hoping for our next appointment at St Jude's mid / end Aug to discuss a treatment plan, the con mneitoned starting me on Clomid and Metformin if all ok with DH SA as due to my PCOS we need to get me ovulating and regular.

Which clinic are you attending?

I am in Stoke-on-Trent, great to find someone who is attending the same clinic - I will be following your journey very closely from now on, fingers crossed and wishing you luck all the way.

Are you attending Newcastle clinic or Wolverhampton? I know for clomid / met we are going to Newcastle but I think anything else has to be done at Wolverhampton, am I right?

I`ll keep you posted about DH SA......can wait until next week, dont know who's more nervous - me or him!!

You can have scans at Newcastle but the procedures are at wolverhampton.

St Judes

Hi girls,

I have been attending St. Judes Wolverhampton and have been very very pleased with them. The Consultant and assistant and receptionist and embryologists are fantastic.
I am now BFP 6 wks now and still attending appointments there for scans. They really do make you feel at home. It is great that it is not like a hospital. They are beginning to feel like my family now!!

All I can say is, have trust in them and they will make it happen for you.

I have only just seen this thread.

We may have to go for IVF depending on what happens with DF's SA result so my question is, is St Jude's NHS or private? I only ask cos my cousin has ICSI but had to go all the way to Aldridge for her tx, but St Jude's is very close to where I live (I could probably walk!) so that would be great if I got to go there.

I attend the satalite clinic in Newcatsle (staffs) but also attend the Wolverhampton clinic for some treatment and tests. They are both run by the same team.
St Jude's is a private hospital, as far as I am aware you can self refer or you can have a referal from your GP.

They have a website with down loadable leaflets and info on the treatments available....

I have treatment at St Judes and even though I don't know if this cycle has worked I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this clinic.

Dr Adeghe and Kay are very positive and it rubs off when you go in for an appointment. They talk about 'when' you are pregnant not 'if'.

I think it should be called 3 ww because this week is just taken up with waiting for EC, then numbers fertilised, then quality, then ET!! Sky Plus empty already !

I have to say it is so nice to speak to people from St Judes and very nice to see BFPs. Congrats!

just wanted to give you a little more information to why im having to have ivf:
aug 2006 i had a 20cm dermoid cyst removed along with my ovary which resulted 7 days later into a large pelvic abcess had another operation to remove the abcess and ended up in intensive care for 2 weeks as i had blood poisoning. also had phewmonia which resulted in another operation to drain my lung and was very poorly and spent over 3 months in hospital.
i have suffered with endometriosis for over 3 years and currently still have it.
12 weeks ago i had another operation due to a large mass of fluid trapped in my pelvis and to remove scare tissue i was told my bowel was completly stuck to my womb and my ovary is now stuck on top of my womb. i have just been back for my 12 week check and been told the only way i'll be able to have a baby is IVF been refered to st judes w-ton.
i am 23 and been through hell and back! i dont have any information as yet and would really apreciate some help
will i have to wait a long time on a waiting list?

me and my partner have been together 8 yrs and been trying for a baby for over 3 yrs

Unfortunately i am with a different clinic. I live in Shropshire so am with Shrewbury clinic. I work in Wolves though.

I hope someone will come by soon and be able to help you with your questions. I am going to start my first IVF hopefully very soon too.

Sorry to hear you have had such a rough time going through all those operation and still suffering with some of them.

hi, i have recently been told i have to ivf and being refered to st judes wolverhampton, i was wondering if anyone had any information to pass on. does anyone know how long your waiting on the waiting list (nhs funded). thanks x

just wanted to give you a little more information to why im having to have ivf:
aug 2006 i had a 20cm dermoid cyst removed along with my ovary which resulted 7 days later into a large pelvic abcess had another operation to remove the abcess and ended up in intensive care for 2 weeks as i had blood poisoning. also had phewmonia which resulted in another operation to drain my lung and was very poorly and spent over 3 months in hospital.
i have suffered with endometriosis for over 3 years and currently still have it.

wow, you have been through so much, hope you are feeling a bit better now and ready to move forward. I will be honest IVF is hard going, but you sound strong and positive so Im sure you and your partner will be just fine :happy:

I have been a patient at St Judes for over a year now, I am a self referred private patient (as I live in north staffs and fertility funding is zero) I noticed on St judes website that they are now accepting NHS patients from south staffs - have you got a consultation date yet?

they are lovely, so lovely. Mr A and Kay are just so so wondeful :smile:

We have been through lots, I went thinking that it was me who did not ovulate so a few tests and then clomid but no, after many tests (and lots of money) we found out that the fertility issues were with us both, myself and DH have had ops at the clinic - some Newcastle under Lyme and some Wolves so we know the staff quite well now!

if you need to know anything, ask away, Gemma on here is also a St Judes patient and a great advert for them as she will be having her little baby boy this weekened!

hi sun flower, thanks for your reply i haven't yet been given a consultation date been told that the nhs are moving the ivf to st judes but might have to be refered to Midland Fertility Services in aldridge? i am very new to all this as i was only told on monday i needed ivf for definate so any information is a bonus

If your referral does go through for St Judes, you might want to have a look at their website - loads of useful stuff plus a message board / forum (although it is always very quiet - no one ever uses it!) but if you log on there give me a shout, we can have a chat on there together if you like :smile:

Hi Jess,
I privately funded my treatment at St Judes so sorry can't help you with the waiting times I think it depends on which PCT you are under, but you have certainly been referred to a great hospital its very warm and friendly and rated one of the top ten in the country, I wish you all the luck in the world and hope you dont get kept waiting to long. IVF is a gruelling journey but worth it all for your chance to be a Mum, good luck to you and let us know how you get on.

I self funded so don't know what the waiting time is, however its a fabulous hospital with wonderful friendly staff they really do become part of the family I wish you well and hope you dont have to wait for to long

Hi, just wondering if anyone has been to St. Judes recently. I have recently emailed the clinic in Newcastle-u-Lyme and Wolverhampton and got no response?

Are they still open?

Does anyone know the approx. costs of ICSI and sperm retrieval?
