My understanding is that they are trying to work out which are your best embryos. Sometimes this is obvious after day 3 but if there are a good number which are all developing well then they will let them continue to develop until day 5 to see which ones stand out. That's my understanding anyhow. If anyone else can explain it better please do :) xx
