Hi Jo31
How did your call go today? I'm tempted to call again but I'm sure there has been no movement. I'm now convinced that when I call next Monday it will be ' oh no decisions yet call back next week' and do on. Very disheartening

I was speaking to a man on reception that was lovely but said that it’s hsppened to a few people, he said he could give me a phone number for the lady that deals with cancellation appointments, but this isn’t practical for me as with work I can’t drop everything for a quick cancellation and my husband has to beg borrow and steal for time to go to appointments, so we really need to know dates in advance.
He gave me the number to call Dr Abage’s (no idea how to spell that) for a private apt and I rang them but the next available date is November 22nd which is only 2 weeks before my NHS date.
If I had been told to begin with that my review was Dec 7th I would have been fine, it’s the fact I had my Nov 9th apt cancelled is so annoying for me as I had built myself up to begin the countdown from next week. We went to our gps in January, I had no idea that it would take nearly a year to be put on the list, I know the list had it’s wait, just not all this crap before hand......

I find myself on this forum constantly reading through it with people who know what it’s like. The few friends I’ve told were saying oh it’s only a 4 week difference, where as I can’t bare the wait.

I’m not at your stage yet Martha, I’m only waiting on my review apt, I don’t think any letters going out on Monday will change timings for me. So glad you’re going to be getting some sort of news next week, the more people that move forward the better for everyone.

I was going to book that when I got the letter saying it was postponed, but when I rang for it they had nothing until the end of Nov which is only just before my NHS review, so just going to wait until the Dec one now. Thanks for that advice though, this forum is so good for this stuff.

Ladies

I called up the RFC to try to speed things up as I went for my first consultation in September. I called up and asked when it would be likely that I would receive my review appointment. Got speaking to a lovely lady that was able to book me an appointment on the phone. She sent out a letter then to confirm it (14 Dec).
She said one of the doctors had retired and that’s why the wait was a bit longer than normal!

Can anyone guide me as to what happens At the review appointment?

Hope this helps some other ladies waiting.

All the best

Hi Teacup
At the review appointment from what I remember bloods were taken at the first appointment to check egg rates? Results from these are given then weight checked as BMI must be below 35 then theres a discussion surrounding the treatment you have to have IVF ICSI .Paperwork is signed by both you and your partner to say that any child born from treatment that you will be the legal parents etc etc ... I think that's all

At our review we got our results for Semen analysis bloods ect. We then got told what treatment they had selected for us, My partner signed all his forms and we were told he had to go for a sperm retreival becuase it turned out he had a blockage, so we went home waited on that appointment, had that done at the royal then waited on another appointment at the grove where we signed all the rest of our forms and eventually went on the list that was feb 21st 2017 after atteneding the rfc from july 2016 it was such a long process but this waiting is worse atleast before we felt like we were doing something

You should hopefully get yours the next week or so if they really are on end of jan, fingers crossrd x

Thanks Daisydo & Martha1 for advice re the review appointment.

Jo31 - exciting times. Let me know how you get on when you’ve been!

Is there a chance that they will prescribe Clomid at the review appointment? That is what I am so so hoping for. I haven’t had a period since coming off the pill in Aug last year. I wonder if they will try Clomid first to see if it helps resolve my problems.

Hope all you other ladies get your other letter soon xo

At the review in April which should have been my 2nd review we signed papers decided on IVF over ICSI and discussed different blood results etc. Hope I get letter no later than Jan 18..

It was a decision made by the consultant I was in such a fluster over it all because we are in the 'unexplained bracket' so because my partners SA was fine and my bloods etc he sent me away to ttc a further 6months. On hind sight I would have refused that and asked to be put straight on the list so my advise would be if it is suggested just refuse it.
I have remained calm and collective through it all but think sometimes I should have been more pushy at appointments.

I thought when I had a chance I would give them a ring, according to the lady I got chatting with they are currently sending for people that were suspended due to the cuts which should be sorted within the next 2/3 weeks. She then said once that's completed they will be back to sending for people that went on to the list in February as that is were they were at before the threat of the cuts. She said there were ahead of themselves and the time scale was 7-8months but now it is 9-10months and she isn't sure how quick they can get ahead again unless they are allowed to send for a big batch of people at one time. She told me to call her back in a month so I have it in the diary to call back in December again. Hope this helps although not great news!!

Hi girls I got my letter this morning and accepted this time. I went on the list in the 19th November 2016 and came to the top of the list in August this year. Unfortunately I had to defer to husbands surgery for three months, this took me up to the 8th October. From the 9th I have been calling constantly so that's a month . I've been told it will be another month before my first appointment

Ah Jo31, let me know how yours goes! I just find myself thinking about it al the time. Fingers crossed you get what you want! Be persistent /assertive as I’ve heard stories where they send you away for 6 months to try naturally before considering any further treatment!

Is it really naive of me to hope they give me Clomid to start? I suppose it will all depend on our results. It would make my Christmas if I was prescribed it lol.

Seasode - sorry I don’t know what your appointment might be for but hoping someone else will be able to assist you!

If it's clomid you need then they prob will prescribe that at the review, sure it would save them money on the whole procedures and technical stuff if the clomid was to work, I don't know though fingers crossed.
I'm hoping the 6 month gaps are for people with unidentified infertility, my husband has a low count/motility so it's not unexplained. Just hoping we can sign the forms and start the countdown, we went to the gp in January and it's taken to December which is not good, so frustrating.

It keeps deleting half my message. ... The nurse also said that there's a possibility my treatment will start on the 12th Dec after my big appointment on the 11th as I will be on cycle day 21!.. excited apprehensive but looking forward to it all. The nasal spread is likely to be for three weeks as the technicians are off then injections for 12days...I might be testing a few days before my 38th birthday!
