Trouble getting meds from prescription from Greece

Hi,

We have recently had the infection testing done through Serum IVF clinic in Greece and one of the tests came back positive. Today they emailed me a private prescription through but two pharmacies have refused to dispense the drugs claiming that they need the original prescription but also trying to make out we're being 'ripped off' etc. I know I could go and see my gp and try to get them to prescribe the antibiotics I need on the NHS but I can't get an appointment for over a week and want to get going on the antibiotic treatment. Did anyone else have problems with prescriptions from clinics abroad? Any tips/advice on what to do other than wait to see a gp and hope they help (even though the majority of GP's don't believe in these tests and tx etc).

Thanks in advance.

hi claire bear,

i had something similar recently. wheni tried various chemsts i was told the same as you. i eventually went to my gp, who told me he couldnt do a prescription o the nhs, because of nhs budgets, but he could do my a private prescription for the uk equivalent. try and find out the uk equivalent of the antibiotic you need, cos if youre gp is anything like mine, he didnt even know that. fertility, is, after all, as he pointed out 'a specialist subject'.

good luck honey with your journey.

After a long hard infertility journey, i am now reluctantly done

Thank you for your reply. :) The drugs we've been prescribed are drugs which are readily available in the uk already so there wouldn't be any need for a uk equivalent would there?

Try getting in touch with Dr Gorgy and explain your issue. He deals with Greece a lot, so may write you a script, although not sure how it all works! Might be worth a try. Nightmare! Xx

Hi hon,

It's actually very straightforward, please don't worry. Phone or mail Maria at Serum and ask for an email prescription which you can send to Rigcharm in London (Yasser Latif at Rigcharm pharmacy) yasserlatif4@hotmail.com. They deal with Serum all the time and will take payment over the phone and then post your meds first class and Maria will post the original px to them in the meantime.

I haven't got lots of time right now, but if you have any other questions please PM me and I will get back to you. xxx

Thanks everyone. I actually emailed Penny today and then Maria contacted me to say she has posted out the hard copy for me.

Thanks so much for the info and advice though as it'll definitely be useful in the future.

Much appreciated. :)
