Is it possible to have the natural killer cell test done privately??

Hi,

Can anyone tell me if i can pay for the natural killer cell test privately? I had 2 miscarriages last year and my GP wont test for it until i have had 3.....obviously i dont want to go through another IVF/miscarriage to find this out.

If i can go private, anyone know how much this will cost?

Thanks

Hello,

Yes, I had the test done privately. Just the basic NK cells one cost me £50 although that was 3 years ago now so I suppose it will be slightly higher now. Obviously there are much more in depth immune tests available which cost an awful lot more but the basic NK one is a good start. Wishing you lots of luck x x

Yay.. Thanks for the reply...

Thats quite cheap, i thought it would be a couple of hundred...

I take it i would go to any fertility clinic for the test?

Thanks again

I assume so, my 1st ICSI was done privately so my consultant just arranged it for me. I guess prices can vary clinic to clinic so don't hold me to it! Goodluck! x

Hi :)

I saw Dr Gorgy for immune treatment he does NK testing though think it goes off to the USA Fees

He is our miracle worker!

Never been pregnant before now got told some of my levels were high combined with low sperm count...few tweaks and treatments and I am now 35 weeks after 6 years of trying and failed Ivf's etc.

Well worth getting done! Not sure of your history but I also had hidden chlamydia which having had only 2 partners in life shocked me....this may have been another reason for failed implantations in me xxxx

Keep positive I hope I have helped xxxx

Thank you.

I have enquired and it will cost £360... Even though it is way more expensive than i thought it was, i will still have to get it done, or, if i had another IVF, and miscarried, it would be a waste of £1000's

Thanks for your help :)

Hi hun, we went through 6 tx cycles before getting tested. What a financial and emotional waste considering we knew there must be a problem after number 4!

So yes get tested and save the heartache and the £'s in the long run.

Good luck xx

Hi Wannabmummy

I see Mr Akande ath the Bristol recurrent miscarriage clinic and he advised that the NHS do not fund this test. I have had it done privately now and they advised that you get the most accurate result by taking a biopsy from your womb at a certain time in your cycle. Mr Akande said that with the blook test for NK cells the results can vary due to lots of other factors and the only true result will be from a biopsy. Hope this helps x
