Dr Referral appointment to ivf clinic does this mean we r funded?

Hi everyone,

(mods I wasn't sure where this question should go so if it is in the wrong place apologies x )

Long story short didn't meet criteria for long time , then lost weight gave up smoking now do.. ( well the reason for my question is was waiting until I was 36 to qualify during which time they changed the rules to being 35 or under.. Grr) however went to see our gp today explained weight loss giving up etc.. She said superb here's your referral letter with password (?) etc.. Let's begin.
She said as far as she was concerned we qualify and she would write a letter for us ... She made no mention of me being too old?

So I am an appointment for November 14th and burst into tears thinking after four years of tests and waiting we could finally be starting tx then just had a panic that what if that referral doesn't mean automatic funding... How do you know when it's approved so to speak.? I am so confused.

After dh's tessa etc.. They said I didn't qualify due too young at the time so the referrals for his investigations didn't count I don't think like funding so I just want to ensure I am right in thinking this is it ... Tx has been approved?

So to ask the same question ten different ways in the longest possible ramble but just feel overjoyed excited & terrified all rolled into one!
Thanks xxxx

There is lots of waiting involved so be patient and stay strong, you'll get there!
Ask all these questions to the clinic when you go in November.

Hey everyone ,

Sorry I haven't replied in a while went the appointment and was told by the specialist that we didn't qualify because I have passed 36 the upper age limit ... So was floored and devastated by this. The consultant said he would write to the pct but said not to be too expectant...

So onto today ...Chrismas eve ...letter drops through the letter box .... It says that we are an expectional case & that are indeed going to fund us !!!!!

I cannot believe it!! After 4 long years waiting and a river of tears finally finally some wonderful news and on Christmas eve too!
Think Santa & the bug man upstairs given us the best Christmas present ever ever ever !!! : D :clap  :thumbsup2: high5 :dancing:

( sorry smiley mad mods but really is a happy happy day x )

Merry Christmas everybody may Santa bring some magic for you too xxxx

Just browsing a few threads & came across yours. What a great Christmas present. The funding issue is a nightmare, isn't it. When I wa referred for the first appoint at the hospital, I'm so glad I took the earlier of the two appointments. They were a week apart, with my birthday sandwiched in the middle. I was referred for IVF at that appointment & was told by the doctor that I was really lucky. By signing the paperwork that day, I was slipping in under the PCT's upper age limit by 4 days (although there was still no guarantee I would get funding .... in the end they funded 1 cycle). Had I taken the other appointment, I would have been ,too old by 3 days! (About a month later the PCT reduced the age limit by 3 years, so I really did squeeze in under the wire so to speak.

Anyway, good luck with it all & I hope you get to start your tx soon.

Hi Elisa, thank you for your reply , you were super lucky doesn't bear thinking about if you had been a few days later *shudders*
Thank you :)

BooBoo :thumbsup2: loong time no speak , I see you have that gorgeous ticker now :hugs: So happy for you x
And thanks I miss you girls too , for me I think I was in denial about how much I wanted to be a mummy because that was easier than facing the pain , so avoidance was a fantastic tactic however to gain the strengh to face the treatment I have to face /use the pain to spur me on past the fear and through the treatment , to be honest have suffered anxiety and so sometimes find it easier not knowing about stuff as would rather not scare myself so I probably will do a dairy for now I am gonna play here newshy

Must admit though I do miss playing with these smileys whoops3
Anyho so the doc reckons I will be starting tx April through may and possibly testing early June  :dancing:
Excited and terrified in equal measure :-) xxxx
