FERTILITY CLINICS ABROAD

FERTILITY CLINICS ABROAD

Hello, I’m Dr Caroline Phillips PhD and I would like to tell you about my company, Fertility Clinics Abroad and a little bit about myself.

At Fertility Clinics Abroad we are expert at helping you choose an IVF clinic abroad. Researching which clinic to attend is very time-consuming and, as you know, there is almost too much information out there. That’s where we can help. We do all the research for you, not just online, but by personally visiting each clinic that we recommend. Our aim is to provide accurate, relevant information to enable you to make an informed decision about where to go. What makes us different is the level of expertise we bring. Having worked as an embryologist I know what to look for and what questions to ask.

How does it work? You tell us what is important to you in choosing a clinic abroad and we analyse your requirements and expertly match you with the three best-suited clinics. We then provide a fully personalised and comprehensive report for you detailing everything that you need to know about these clinics. Topics covered include donor recruitment, staffing, success rates, clinic quality assurance and an indication of costs involved.

Perhaps you already have a clinic in mind? We can provide you with our detailed visit report to give you that extra level of comfort you need in order to go ahead.

Fertility Clinics Abroad is totally impartial and receives no fee from any clinic. The service is focussed solely on you and your needs.

We are currently covering the Czech Republic but are expanding all the time to different countries.

As for me, well I gained a PhD from Edinburgh University researching preimplantation embryo development and published a number of research papers on the subject. I’ve worked in research labs including Professor Ian Wilmut’s (he was the leader of the team which created Dolly the Sheep) where together we investigated the switching on of embryo genes. I’ve also worked in IVF clinics and was the Senior Embryologist at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital IVF Unit. I keep up-to-date with what’s happening in the field of embryology and will use my experience to ensure you get the help you need to find the right clinic.

Why not visit FERTILITY CLINICS ABROAD for more information, or give me a call on 0131 524 8193.

Or please feel free to ask me any questions relating to travelling for treatment in the Czech Republic using the forum below.

IVF Costs Abroad

One in six couples worldwide experience some form of infertility problem. In the UK, with funding for fertility being cut as a result of measures to control spending, many people who find themselves ineligible for treatment on the NHS are being pushed into the private sector. The cost of IVF/ICSI (intracytoplasmic sperm injection) in private clinics in the UK can range from £4000-£6000 once all ‘extras’ are added in. How does that compare with going abroad for IVF?

Data available for 2008, published by the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE), show that, yet again, the number of IVF cycles undertaken in Europe had increased from the year before. New fertility clinics are being established regularly in popular IVF destinations like the Czech Republic. These clinics advertise themselves as being cheaper, and from the published price lists, this appears to be true. The starting price for IVF in some clinics in Prague ranges from 1500-2000 Euro and even when ‘extra’ treatment costs are added (e.g. specialised freezing techniques, embryo monitoring), the price is rarely more than 3000-3500 Euro. With today’s favourable exchange rate, the cost is even lower for UK IVF travellers.

Fertility Show in London 2012

It was a very worthwhile visit to the Fertility Show in London. Even though it meant a very early flight from Edinburgh ;( , it was well worth the effort as I managed to meet once again with the team from IVF Cube and also GENNET who were exhibiting. GENNET are opening a new IVF clinic in London in December.

There was lots of good talks and information available. I really liked listening to Nicola Dawson who described her journey from ICSI treatment in the UK to egg donation/donor sperm in Spain. It was very moving and informative.

Did anyone else attend :?:

Egg Donation: Abroad or at Home?

Hello,

I recently wrote this article which may be of interest.

Egg Donation: Abroad or at Home?

Many people are faced with a decision to go abroad for egg donation because of the perceived shortage of egg donors in the UK meaning that the waiting time for treatment can be long. Since 2005, donor anonymity laws in the UK have changed so that a donor conceived child can, at the age of 16, apply to the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority to find out non-identifying information provided by their donor at donation and, at age 18, can find out identifying information. This change in law had an impact on the number of people coming forward to donate. Recently, however, more donors are apparently coming forward as the amount of money given to egg donors for expenses has increased. Some UK clinics are reporting that more egg and sperm donors are available and waiting lists are shorter. Read more

How to Choose the Best IVF Clinic Abroad

Hello,

Here is an article I recently wrote on "How to Choose the Best IVF Clinic Abroad".

For some people, trying to fund another IVF cycle at home is very difficult. Many turn to IVF clinics abroad to find cheaper treatment and the savings can be quite substantial. Aside from cost, choosing an IVF clinic which fits with your requirements and is 'best' for you takes a lot of research and time. A comparison of clinic price lists should not be the only indicator for opting for one clinic over another. Below is a list of areas which should be researched before choosing the best clinic for you. Read more

Abnormalities in IVF Embryos

Here is an extract from my latest blog post:

Preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) is a test that can be carried out on IVF embryos to ensure that only embryos unaffected by a particular genetic condition are returned to the womb. Couples who undergo PGD do not have infertility, but rather are at risk of passing a genetic disease to their children. Preimplantation genetic screening (PGS) is similar to PGD, but is used by infertile couples who are undergoing IVF. These couples do not have an obvious underlying genetic problem, but PGS is performed in an attempt to identify genetically abnormal embryos so that only normal embryos are transferred back into the womb, thereby increasing the likelihood of a pregnancy. These are usually used in cases where there is a perceived increased risk of genetic abnormality e.g. ‘older’ women who use their own eggs and couples facing repeated implantation failure. Read more

Egg Donation in Spain

Hello,

I just wanted to share with you my news that I have just returned from Spain and I have visited some fantastic egg donation clinics in Madrid. I spent a few hours in each of the clinics I visited. I was shown round by staff, went into the labs and spoke to the embryologists, asked questions about egg donation, egg donors, procedures, equipment and saw it all for myself. So I will add these clinics to my database so that I can offer my service to people going to Spain and also the Czech Republic for egg donation. The staff in each of the clinics were really helpful and open. It was good to see a number of clinics over several days on my trip as I understand the differences between them and what they could offer different people.

As you can imagine, spending a few hours in each clinic and asking numerous questions means that I have loads of information which is relevant to people seeking egg donation in Spain. So if you are looking for help choosing an egg donation clinic in Madrid then get in touch.

Perhaps you want a comparison of clinics from both the Czech Republic and Spain then that can also be done. There are obviously differences between the clinics in these countries and I can explain this in my report to you as part of the service I provide. The report on the three clinics is over 50 pages so you will have plenty of information to help make the decision about where to go easier!

Thanks for reading.

I did my egg donation in Ukraine

Hello to all! My name is Mariam!
I'm 30years old ...
My husband and I are 7 years of marriage, and almost all these years trying to get pregnant.
I come from the Ukraine, and my husband Sebastián from Spain.

I would like to summarize my story, it might be useful to someone.
At first doctors (we were inspected in Valencia) diagnosed my unexplained infertility ;( , then turned everything on tubal factor (partial obstruction), but after a year of diagnosis found that the main cause of infertility is reduced ovarian reserve. That is, the only female factor,
reduced fertility in the early reproductive years.

We were thinking twice about treatment, we have had two IVF attempts (one in Ukraine, one in Alicante)- I have found much support on the internet. after all following to my doctor in Ukraine, who have advised that the best and most reliable option in this case - it is egg donation. The other options may be ineffective.
Procedure we held in Kiev, at the medical center of Ilaya (the only medical center for reproduction in Ukraine best level! Believe me, I
know about it a lot!) Costs are in web site, but we paid 5 000.
As a Result is a small miracle! And I just can not share our happiness - perhaps my advice will help someone to achieve the most important in your life! Do not be afraid to take risks ....

Hi, I used GENNET in Prague and now I am 20 week's pregnant! I did use my own eggs. I found them to be reasonably priced and obviously I am happy with the result. The procedure was done safely and it is clean. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that they expect you to know their way of doing things.without always explaining. You do get a co coordinator though who you can ask questions.

I don't have any experience of the other clinic you mentioned.

Hope this of some help! Good luck wherever you decide. X

Since the last update, Fertility Clinics Abroad has got bigger and we now feature IVF clinics from Russia as well as Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Spain, Greeceand Cyprus.

We've also developed an IVF Travel section to help people who are arranging travel etc to clinics abroad. We know it can be stressful so there's some info on transport and visas etc but a travel specialist should always be consulted if in doubt. We'll be adding to this in the future.

Fertility Tourism Research

Hello,

Fertility Network UK and ourselves - Fertility Clinics Abroad- are researching why people travel abroad for IVF treatment. Together we have created a survey and we'd really appreciate it if you could fill it in. It should only take 2 minutes.

Thank you

In august I had IVF/PGS in Heraklion Crete at Crete Fertility Centre. I had the treatment and my vacation at the same time. I wanted also to stay there on holidays and thus I chose to stay for 15 days in total. I had an amazing hotel by the sea. Great sunshine, rest, fun, great food. I had my treatment and returned pregnant in my baby boy. Could I ask for something more? I am really satisfied by the centre and their professionalism. Friendly, caring, up to date and with great knowledge and experience.
