New cycle new drugs I am totally panicking!!

Hi ladies!

I hope I am posting in the right place!!

I am really hoping someone will be able to help me!! I am totally petrified of what's to come!!

My husband and I are about to start our second ICSI cycle this September . Our first cycle I was on long protocol collecting 22 eggs and 16 of those went on to fertilise due to severe OHSS transfer could not take place so we went on later to have two FET both at blastocyst stage resulting in pregnancies but sadly miscarried both times. My clinic decided to do recurrent miscarriage testing which found some problems. My protein s was very low and I tested MTHFR heterozygous positive. We also both had the Karyotyping blood test done and are waiting for an appointment as the clinic need to see my husband and I to discuss the results.

The clinic have told us that the treatment needed for our next cycle would include being on a higher dose of folic acid and b12 tablets also clexane injections an extended course of prednisolone tablets. The treatment will this time be a short protocol using Fostimon a different type of trigger injection and hopefully aiming for a fresh blastocyst transfer.

I am so worried about all the new drugs that will be being used and being on short protocol this time what if I don't get any eggs on sp? Has anyone previously been on LP then gone on to SP? Can all these extra drugs as well as the medication needed to prepare your body for EC then transfer effect the outcome? Has anyone suffered from miscarriages and found out they have these problems then taken this medication and gone on to have a healthy pregnancy & baby? We're there any bad side effects? Sorry about all the questions. If anyone has anything to add that I havnt thought about I would be really grateful for your advise.

Sorry I needed to add my lining too hasn't been the best on my first transfer it only got to just over 7mm and our second it was 8mm they said that was the best I was going to get does anyone else struggle with their lining getting thicker? Any ways to help it along? Could this also be why the both pregnancies hasn't continued? If it was thicker would the outcome be different?

My head is spinning with so many worries!! I am so worried I am going to miscarry again or not even get to transfer!

Hope to speak to you soon! Xxxx

Hi,
You do sound worried, buti can say there is nothing to worry about. The extra drugs (prendisolone and clexane) and vitamins will help with the miscarriage problems. Fostimon is just a different type of stimming drug. It's still the same principle.
You'll probably be on shorter and lower stimulation with the short protocol to avoid ohss.
The side effects will be less as you'll be on the stimming drugs for a shorter time. Prendisolone's main side effect is lack if sleep, but at the same time you feel good on it cos it's a steroid. As long as you take it as early in the morning as possible you will be just fine. Clexane will make you bruise, so be careful when you are jabbing or if you band on things. You can use arnica gel or cream on your belly.
For the lining, just follow a healthy diet with lots of lean protein. Aternatively go and see a nutritionist that specialises in fertility for a plan.
I hope I have reassured you and good luck xfingers

I havent experienced the issues you have, but I am currently taking prednisolone and would agree with Maria in that it keeps you awake, but so far no other issues and I have been on it for over three weeks so far. I've also seen lots of ladies have success on the short protocol, so I wouldn't worry about that- much better if you don't have to Down regulate, in my opinion!
Clexane does bruise you but I find those injections easy to be honest. I would not say that for me the extra drugs have caused me any more stress or issues than I would have had in a normal cycle. Your anxiety is understandable, but I really wouldn't worry so much about the immune drugs, they may well make all the difference . Good luck!

Hi ya, I had long protocol and was in danger of ohss - they removed 56! So short protocol last few times. Had several m/c then moved onto immune cycles and that did the trick for me. Had intraplids etc and all of the tablets you will be on - I didn't find it much different. Tbh I think I felt better as wasn't over stimulated so easier on the body. Just remember to set the alarm to remind you when to take which drug.
All the best for you and I know it's impossible but try not to worry xx

Aww bless we have all been there with the worry and questioning well I have lmao I think I panic about it all!

Just to say I have been on clexane, Predisalone, Prognova, anti biotics as I had Hidden C, and all has been fine. Belly bit bruised from clexane but it's really nothing to worry about honestly and Predisalone has given me (albeit over some time) a rounder face lmao but it's all worthwhile! These are the main every day ones I'm on anyway :)

I am a immunology patient (so lots of drugs) despite our issue being LC with DH I needed tweaking as I feared implantation issues after 2 failed ICsi NHS cycles... Whether it was luck or the miracle worker Dr G we finally got our BFP and just had 12 week scan. My fears are 'coming off the drugs' the complete opposite to u lmao

Still got to continue with clexane though ;)

Sorry you have had miscarriages honey :( xxxx so do they think the reasons are as u outlined? have you had the hidden chlamydia testing done? This is just a sample of menstral blood, not many people do but Dr G suggested it (despite clear NHS results) and well knocked me down sideways I have a very very small reading so DH and I both hit with antibiotics and during 12 weeks eeek! But I'm glad it was found it is quite expensive like £400 only certain places do it too. Only say all this as remember reading someone else having miscarriages then this test but prob not necessary if ur Dr thinks the issues are as you outlined. Only ever had few partners in life so I was so sure I would be clear and thought was a waste of money! Just thought make you aware this exists anyway as I had never heard of it.

Good luck, don't panic! I stimmed with fostimon this last time and menoral and look! don't worry about the eggs they will tweak the drugs if ur follicles are not doing as they are told :)

Hi Maria thank you so much for your reply. I really need to relax its just been playing on my mind so much!! The information you told me is a great help. So if I take the prednisolone early in the morning it shouldn't keep me awake! Is the clexane a injection taken once a day? I am so glad I won't be down regulating this time my tummy was like a pin cushion and all bruised!! Would I get the arnica gel from a chemist? Lots & lots of protein for my lining too! :) thank you again :) xxx

Hi Pheobe,

Thank you for your reply!! You put a smile on my face!! :)

It is all worthwhile your right!! :) Congratulations on your pregnancy :)

It's all came as such a blow I never thought in a million years this would happen and after going through treatment for years finally getting the BFP you dream of then having it taken away from you it's heartbreaking!!

Hopefully fingers crossed our dream comes true and any medication I am on will be worth it in the end! :)

When I first got told I needed to take this extra medication I was totally petrified of what's to come but after all the support from you all I feel a lot better about what's to come!

I have had a lot of tests on the NHS and also private. My doctor said I didn't need the karyotyping test but my husband and I decided to go ahead with the tests privately!! We are just waiting to see the doctor with my husband about the karyotyping results!! I am praying that it's all ok! My clinic & GP have been so brilliant testing lots of different things! I will be sure to mention that test to my consultant! Thank you. Xxx
