PCOS and OPK's

Hi There! I am very new to this!

I am just wondering if anybody has PCOS and has had a Positive on an OPK?

I have been using OPK's on and off for 2yrs and have never had a positive, but this month I have! Yay! and it is with Ewcm! I am trying not to get my hopes up that this means I have/are going to ovulate because I have read that with PCOS you can quite often get a Positive OPK but I would just like to hear other people's experiences!

Thank You!

MrsNKA!

Hi Mrs NKA,

I don't have PCOS but a good friend of mine does, and she tells me that whenever she has had a positive OPK it has also coincided with other fertile signs (eg EWCM) and she has ovulated. I would take this as a good sign and get BDing! Good luck xfingers X x x

Hiya,

The thing with POCS and OPK's is that the OPKs detect the LH surge but with PCOS LH is usually high anyway so xfingers it means you have ovulated but it may be that your LH has just risen a bit and triggered the OPK  Have you had your LH checked?

The only way to know for sure if you have ovulated is to have a blood test 7 days after you think you have ovulated to check your progesterone. Progesterone rises sharply 7 days after ovulation.

OPK's unfortunately can't tell you for definite whether you have ovulated.

Hi

I have PCOS and I used to use an ovulation montior and temp for nearly two years, I think I might have had three positives on it and it used to show movemnt on the scale but most of the time it did not show any changes. When I was referred to my fertility consultatn she said they were a waist of time and money she said as long as you are having sex three times a week you dont need to bother with this. She also sadi that they measure the raise in the FSH hormone and do not actually predict that you have ovulated anyway and the stress from temping and peeing on a stick daily justs adds to the stress. They are not cheap either!!! I stopeed as we had to go for ICSI anyway due to my DH antibodies. Hope that helps!!!
