Low AMH etc - miracles do happen!!!

Hello

Just wanted to say, I have a low AMH (1.8 a year ago) and my FSH was between 12 and 19.9. However, after being advised to go straight for egg donor as we only had 10% chance of ICSI working - I'm proud to say I have had my 12 week scan today and all is well! It was our first cycle so we feel blessed but I wanted you al to know that consultants can be wrong and 'miracles' do happen!!

Hi there,

I too have low AMH (3.12) so great to hear you have had a success!

Did you go for ICSI or the donor route?

Hi Bou
Congrats, I too have a low AMH 1.7 and had a scan on Monday and all is going well with me too!! I'm 12+1 today and am still very nervous but also delighted!! This is my second ICSI and I have to say I almost gave up when I got my AMH results. I couldn't really find very many sucessful ladies with such low AMH when I started out so hopefully our results will help other ladies with low AMH's.
Best of luck honey, I'll be keeping an eye on how your doing [zx127]

I am 28yrs old and tried first IVF that failed. My AMH is around 1.53 and in the first cycle i was able to give only two eggs that fertilized in a good quality embryo. Dr. said that since one of my ovary was undetectable they happened to get just two eggs. My first cycle has failed and now preparing for second ivf cycle with a lady acting as my surrogate. I need some strong suggestions as to what can I expect this time !! I am planning to try acupuncture thing since it worked with many ppl but I wanted to know what else can i do?? Like taking DHEA, but my Dr. has not suggested that to me yet. He keeps saying that since my age is less he is sure about trying the next cycle after two months...

I need some real good advises regarding this ... me and my husband are almost depressed after having failed ivf cycle :tears: :sniff:

Hi! I would not take anything unless the consultanthas prescribed it. Dhea can make your testosterone go up too which is not a good thing. Just take a good pregnancy supplement. A low amh just means you won't make as many eggs as other people but you can still get pregnant. Good luck! xfingers

Thank you for this thread!

It cheered me up - we have been told this morning that my AMH is 1.49, and the chance of me having a baby with my own eggs is less than 5%. I am 31 (32 in October). I was strongly advised to go donor route, but I don't want to do that. We still have one more NHS funded cycle left, and we will be going that way with my next period. Unless clinic comes up with something else why we can't...

We had 1st IVF last autumn (November) and I only produced 1 egg. We were lucky that it has fertilised, but we didn't get the positive result on the test day.

We are thinking positive, and surely this time it is going to work!

HI girls,

I'm 36 and my AMH was 2.7 in August 2010. My ICSI cycle was nearly cancelled because the response was not looking great, but managed five eggs in the end. Two fertilised and one took - expecting our darling little girl on Sept 12th, so it worked first time. Have had a great pregnancy so far. Know I have been extremely lucky and thank God every night for our miracle. Good luck everyone. xfingers

Hi All,

i m back again with a sad update.. after 1failed cycle of IVF in july 2011 where my AMH was 1.53 ng/ml now it has dropped down to 0.72 :8o: . I am in a state of shock after knowing this. I live in USA and I have changed my fertility clinic since the earlier one said he cannot continue with me until i go for a donor egg. I and my husband want our biological child and this new clinic has told us they got success with people having lower AMH levels than these. They do believe that AMH levels vary time to time, which i don't know is true?? since my earlier Dr confirmed that the levels won't increase further.

However, both have suggested me to try DHEA atleast for a month to see if the levels are increasing. I have started that and relaxation .. I am taking 75mg/day of DHEA which i read online for optimum dosage for woman in my condition. I am also taking mulitvitamin supplements, omega-3 and Nano greens (supplement for fruits and vegetables).. i am very dissappointed right now and usually get depressed. I want to hear from people if they got success with these levels..

;( :bawl:

Thanks Maria. I really hope it does ! I have to check my AMH levels again after 40days.

JUst FYI to all I had a failed cycle and I was on a long protocol. I was on birth control pill (femilon). It took 5weeks for me to down regulate and later i was stimulated with Menopur, citrotide and ovidrel at the end before egg retrieval.

Definitely want to change my protocol for the next cycle. fingers crossed xfingers

Hi everyone! Not sure if this thread is closed?!?

I'm incredibly new to this only browsing yesterday & signed up today - after failed icsi in April (4eggs& no fertilisation) we have reached top of private list at rfc - dr phoned me last wk to say my amh had dropped from 15 to 2.2 & chances of successful icsi is low - have bn devastated but not giving up - just wondering if anyone else is in the same position or if anyone has advice or experience with suitable protocols (heard short is best for poor responders but think my consultant said long with higher dose gonal F) supplements/therapies (researching dhea - but hav to consult dr) & stimulant drugs (heard pergoveris is gd for poor responders!) Anxious & confused ?o(

Hi My AMH was 1.8 about a year or so before our first and only cycle of ICSI. He didn't want to treatment but as we were paying (we didn't qualify for funding) he reluctantly let us give it a go. He wantewd me to take another AMH test as he suspected it had gone below 1 but I refused. I would prefer not to know. He was very dismissive of lifestyle changes, no caffeine etc and I felt quite alone but that said, it strengthen my resolve and I was even more determined to the point I couldn't imagine the cycle not working. I cut caffeine and chocolate and alcohol completely out of my diet for the year running up to it. Took suppliments, drank healthy greens, cut back on work and when I felt tired I slept which is easy for me as I'm self employed so had the flexibility. I also had weekly reflexology which was overseen by my GP. I am really proud to say it worked first time even though we were given 10% chance of it working and my consultant was in shock and asked to see the results again to be certain :) I had asked for Pergovaris but he put me something else - will have to get back to you on that. I was on the highest dose. My first scan for the eggs didn't sound very optimistic - I only had a potential three but when I went for the egg collection there were five, four fertilised and I had two put back in. I now have a very energetic, gorgeous little boy aged 21 months. Please try and be positive as I feel that half the battle. xxx
