Ashley & Elsie-I don't want to see you girls go but it might help you to join an IVF/Cycle Buddy Chatter thread as there are lots of people on there who have already had IVF and can help with any questions you might have. It would still be good to hear how you're getting on though :)

Gumpy-glad to hear you had a lovely holiday. It probably did you the world of good  Re counselling, me and DH have had one session (we get 2 sessions with our first IUI) and we found it very helpful. It's a chance for you to talk to someone who is completely removed from your personal situation and can offer you advice on ways to deal with things that you are finding hard. The things our counseller said made a lot of sense but be prepared to feel very emotional and tearful. You'll feel so much better afterwards though.

Lynn-I'm still an IUI girly and will be staying on this thread even though I haven't started IUI yet due to this stupid cyst.

Lollygirl-hope the 2ww is going okay :dust:

AFM-I wish AF would get a move on. Have had cramps and spotting for 3 days now but still it hasn't started properly. Was hoping to get to the clinic for my cyst scan by the end of the week but looks like I'll probably have to wait til Monday now to find out what is happening :-(

OMG Opal!!! That's wonderful news....I'm so excited for you : D Sending lots and lots of :sticky: your way hun :)

Well AF came properly this morning and I managed to get a scan for 11.30. This is my first scan with full flow and they asked if a student could watch :O. Anyway, the cyst is still there and they think it's an active one that won't go away on it's own. They've done another blood test and I'll be discussed at the daily meeting with the consultants. If my blood test shows a reduced estrogen level they might let me start IUI but its unlikely to have reduced, in which case they'll recommend a surgical removal. Just waiting for a phone call this afternoon now to find out ;(. If i do have to have an op there is a 6 month waiting list so my IUI drugs will be sat in the cupboard at home for some time before I get a chance to use them .

Hi ladies, hope you all had a lovely weekend.

Thanks for all your comments. I got a call Friday afternoon to say that my consultant wants to see me Monday (today). I was so shocked that they wanted to see me so quickly that I forgot to ask what the blood test result was! I'm assuming that the result wasn't good and that he wants to see me to discuss the op. I'm a bit nervous though as it all seems very quick ;(.

Lynn-I hope your first injection goes well. I've been dreading that bit but it looks like I'll have to wait a while yet to find out what it's like to inject yourself.

Lollygirl-I'm keeping everything crossed that we get another :BFP:It's so lovely to hear some success stories.

CONGRATULATIONS opal, that is soooo fantastic, just wot this thread needed, some :BFP: news.

Wannabe, really hope ur appointment goes ok today and u hear some good news, u defo deserve it hon.

Lolly, hope ur feelin better and good luck for testing!!

Elsie, hope u had a good weekend! did af show up?? anymore update on ur ivf?? wot thread should we move to?? i am on a thread relevant to my local area but would like to find one that is general ivf journey in may. let me no if u find 1!! hope ur doin ok hon.

AFM well i had my basline scan on fri and after a long time looking for my ovaries and goin to loo to clear bladder my suspicion was correct, i have a cyst on my left ovary. I immediately felt that sinking feeling in stomach as thought we'd hav to delay treatment til next af. but ahe told me they would do a blood test to check if it was an active cyst and if it wasn't i could start my gonal-f. After a long 5 hours waiting for the call, they rang to say blood was fine and i could start injections  I have been taking 150 of gonal-f and i have my 1st scan on wednesday. Not sure when egg collection will be but im guessing next week (comparing to others who had short protocol at this clinic). im just so worried about taking time off work now as i havent mentioned to my boss yet and im really trying to say as little as i can get away with.

Well, I went to see the consultant yesterday afternoon and he's put me on the waiting list for the cyst removal op which is 6 months long . Then he asked me to have another blood test for CA125 Protein. If this comes back raised then it's a sign of a couple of possible things including ovarian cancer ;(. I seem to be jumping from one crisis to another at the moment. If the protein is raised he will be able to push me through for the op quicker as they'll need to find out what is causing the higher protein levels. Hopefully I should have the results by the end of the week.

aw ashley = i'm glad you got to start ur injections,u don't need to tell ur boss anything - u can say ur having an op but not go into details or ucould just go off sick ur gp can write on ur sick line personal as the reason.

wannabe - thats awful!!!! i hope the blood test is fine and they get that cyst removed asap. if the cyst is causing pain then go to a&e - after2 admissions with the same surgical issue they r obliged to give u the op as an emergency patient.

lolly - hang in there girl u still have a few days til OTD so good luck

afm - the injection wasn't too bad i suppose a bit nippy!!!! 2 more to go then i get my first scan on monday after my nightshift!!!!

Wannabe - hope your blood tests come back clear.
Lolly - it is still far too early to test with any degree of accuracy. AF symptoms and early PG symptoms are exactly the same - I always tell people that the cycle on which I got my BFP I wa convinced had failed and AF was on her way - so convinced that I had arranged a meeting at the bank to arrange a loan to fund a round of IVF... I meeting that I ended up cancelling... And that is a true story. Don't give up yet, Hun.

Gizzi - good luck for your scan

Wannebee - let us know how you get on with the results from the tests! Am sure it is nothing sinister but if they could get you up the waiting list that would be the best outcome.

Hi ladies

Thanks for all your good luck wishes. I'm sure the blood test will be fine. I'm hedging my bets and phoning tomorrow afternoon even though they said to phone next week as I just want to know the outcome.

Had some really horrible news yesterday-my SIL had a scan last week (she's due on 13th June) and they saw a problem with my niece's heart which they wanted to investigate further. My SIL went to see a specialist yesterday and was told that my niece has 4 heart defects and will need several operations (one 2 weeks after she is born) to try to fix them. It makes our journey to having a baby seem a doddle compared to the journey they're now facing and certainly puts things into perspective.

Lollygirl-did you test today? How did it go?

Lyn-hope the injections are going okay. How long do you think it will be until until insem?

xx

Hello to all the ladies on here,

I am new to this site, this is my first post - so forgive me if its in the wrong place or I've done something not quite right!

Am hoping for a little support, it really helps me when I read all the thread of messages.

So I am 11 days into my 2WW - following my second IUI on 1st May. I am going a little crazy here! I had strong AF cramps yesterday, but none today, although it still feels like AF is on its way. Has anyone else felt like the cramps and symptoms were exactly like period pains/PMS?

Am thinking of doing a test, but it's probably too early.

Be nice to hear any words of wisdom....

i know the 2ww is a nightmare!! yes you can have all manner of AF symptoms and go on to have a BFP (it happened to me a few years ago!) in theory you should wait til your official test date/14dpo but i never can! xfingers for you

Wannabe - you must be so worried for your neice, i suppose at least the doctors are aware of it now and they can give her the best care possible from the start

Hi everyone else

no good news here, think i am 12 or 13dpo and got another BFN today. actually got a bit of a fright this morning, was using a cheapy test strip and out of the corner of my eye i thought i saw something (8 o) but it was just a dent where i think the line would be! definitely no colour to it.
Now i am getting my usual pre AF spotting so now i am just hoping that AF will arrive on Fri-Sat so we can go straight into another cycle

HI Lolly, thanks for your reply. It does help to know so many others going through exactly the same! So its day 12 today, but now having cramps again, really does feel like AF on way. Am holding out to do a test, just don't want the disappointment if its BFN!

Thanks for your support, and any more news from you? :-)

Back in the game!

Hi ladies,

Good to see some new ladies on here, and wonderful to see some BFP's I think it gives us all hope!

Good luck to the ladies moving onto ivf, stop in and visit us from time to time! sorry for my absence of late, but as we had this month off, I tried to block everything out completely and just live normally for a month, which I have to say, hasn't really done my liver much good with all of these bank holidays, bbqs and cider!

Hi cupcake, hang on in there, it's not over until the witch makes her full appearance!

Glad I had last month off treatment tbh, as I have had a nightmare cycle... Spotting around ovulation, cramps, the works... Going to see the gp as my fear is that this cyst of mine is playing up... :S

Lollygirl, are you going straight into number 3, or having some time?

I'm still undergoing acupuncture to try and sort my cycles out so when we do resume treatment, I have more of a chance, as they still refuse to medicate my iuis due to pcos, and risk of overstimming. I just want to know that if the fertilization takes, my body has a chance of hanging onto the beggar, as my leutal phase is only 12 days as ov. Is late.

Keep positive ladies!

Xx

Hi ladies.

Stacey-lovely to hear from you

Lollygirl-best of luck with cycle number 3. When do you start?

Cupcake-how's the 2ww wait going?

Lynn-not long until insem now then! Fingers crossed they suggest doing it next thurs.

AFM-my blood test came back slightly raised so I'm now an emergency op. I'll find out more next week but they have said that when they remove the cyst they will test it to chance whether it's cancerous. On the positive side at least I don't have to wait 6 months for the op now and if everything is ok I'll be able to get back to IUI quicker than we first thought. I am scared though in case the cyst is something nasty :(

Xxx

I wish that was the case Lynn but I havent started any treatment yet because of the cyst. I'm not even sure how long it's been there. Fx it'll be nothing though when they get round to taking it out.

Haven't been on for a while ladies so I've just had a quick look back to see whats happening, Lolly, sorry about the BFN, and Wannabemum - I'm sure the cycst will be benign, if it wasnt you would surely have had symptoms of some sort and it wouldnt just have been found on your scan for IUI. Keep your chin up - at least as the girls say, your getting your op now.

Gizzi, glad to hear the injections werent too bad - fingers crossed for your insemination x

Well i'm nearly 5 and a half weeks pregnant now, hospital confirmed it last Monday and things "touch wood" seem to be going ok... I have a scan booked in with the clinic at the 8 weeks mark to check the baby/ babies and count the heartbeats. Thats not till 7th June though, so just have to keep hoping that it will hang on in there.

Take care all of you.

Thanks Elsie and Opal. I'm sure it'll all be okay. I've got an appointment at the hospital on Thurs to discuss my results but I'm not sure when my op will be yet.

Opal-I'm so so pleased for you hun. Just imagine if there's two in there!

Seems to be a bit quiet on the IUI front at the moment....we need some more ladies to come and join us on this thread. Lynn, Lollygirl and Cupcake..hope you are all well.

Hi all,

I'm a newbie on here so please let me know if I should be posting elsewhere. I'm on my first complete IUI cycle, my test date is Fri 27th May. I'm unempoyed at the moment and looking for a job, which is great for clinic appointments. But now I'm on the 2ww I don't have as much to occupy my time and so start thinking waaay too much!! I've been reading posts on here and the stories (and the strength) are truly inspirational. I was feeling very negative but reading about your journeys helped keep my spirits up so hugs to you all!!

Fingers crossed for those taking their tests soon, sending out lots of good vibes!
