My first iui started in may. Ended 5 days before otd with the arrival of af. They couldn't continue with tx due to cyst. Hopefully that's away now just waiting on af to start again. Af due 5 July. If no show by a week later clinic will start me on provera. I've been ttc for 5 yrs also. My weight caused a lot of issues. My bmi was 41. I've had 2 cycles of clomid with no result at all. My bmi now 29.

Fx for u. Hope we might be cycle buddies!!

Aw fairydust. I'm sorry mate. How long r they giving u to lose it? 12lbs is a lot for them to miscalculate by. It's just plain rotten. I thought they only required ur bmi to be 35 to commence tx. That's lanarkshires rules. I had a gastric band fitted last march. I had tried everything to lose weight and nothing was working. As u know. Pcos and weight loss don't mix well. I had a calorie restricted diet pre op so I lost some fat around liver- essential for surgery. I could see if I can find it and pm it to u. It's not sustainable long term but it might help u lose that extra bit so u can get started on tx ASAP.

I've had a rotten week myself. My cyst is still there at 3cm causing pain. So no tx for me this month. If it's still there nxt month they r gonna give me the down reg drugs used un ivf to strip all my hormones away to see if that down sizes the buggar!! Not really looking forward to it. My sil is also pg and due about the time I would've been if tx had worked

Hope everyone is doing well.

Xxxx

Hi everybody,

Just thought i'd pop in n say hello. No news from me as Ive just got back from my hols - gutted its all over with!

Now just awaiting af which is just next week i will then be starting my first iui.

Its been lovely getting away from it all after almost 3 years of trying but when we got towards the end of the holiday i got that sick feeling in my stomach which reminded me of what we have yet to go through. Eee well we have to just plod along i guess and get on with it.

Fairydust - sorry to hear of the mistake the hospital has made its terrible.

Gizzi - hope you are ok. I can understand what pain your going through having a cyst that big as i had one myself and its not pleasant at all. I hope it shrinks hun.

How is everyone else doing? It has been very quiet in here!

AF arrived for me yesterday :cross: i called the hospital today to let them know and i have my first scan next wed. Although i was down in the dumps yesterday, im quite excited now to get started with the iui although im very nervous about it all.
Ive decided to definately ring in sick at work as im suppose to be on some training for 3 days 3 hours away around the time im sure i will ovulate and i refuse to miss another opportunity. This is far more important to me. Just gota decide what my excuse will be...any suggestions girls?? hehe??

Hey girls. Hopefully not long until my first IUI now... 2 weeks.... I have a hard decision to make though.

My team are concerned about the amount of eggs they get me to produce. Now obviously the chance of a BFP is greater if you have 2 or 3 eggs ready to be fertilized but in my case, theyre concerned incase I go onto have a multiple birth.

Although they feel I could carry twins as im very well, due to me having cystic fibrosis it's not ideal.. especially if im a little tired/unwell after the birth. Obviously multiples are alot harder than one baby.

My problem is, if they get me to produce one egg and it fails, I'll always wonder if I had a better chance with 2 or more eggs, despite the risks.

It's the hardest decision and one I'm going to need to make soon. Has anyone been in a similar situation for whatever reason?

Ive heard of that before, you can carry a baby ok though normally cant you? Makes things awkward though doesnt it!

I think they start you off on the lowest dose injections to make sure theres no risk of OHSS! x

yes i can carry a baby fine its just a higher chance of miscarrage and early birth and this doubles if its twins my womb is only a wee bit heart shaped though so it should be alrite xfingers

Hello Lynn, Fairydust, PrincessRebekah and Princesslittlehead!

So sorry I haven't been on here for such a long time but life has been rather busy and stressful over the past month/6 weeks. As some of you ladies have joined sinces I vanished, I will give you a brief overview of what was happening with me.....

I was due to have my first IUI in April but they found a cyst on my left ovary which turned out (after lots of tests) to be an endometrial cyst. I was put on a 6 month waiting list for removal by laporoscopy but got a phone call at the beginning of June to say they had a cancellation. The cyst was removed on 14th June and they found moderate endometriosis which was also removed. Whilst this was going on and for the duration of my recovery I also had building work going on at home! Then on 23rd June, the day before we were due to go on holiday, my niece was born who had to have an operation on her heart at just 4 days old.

The up side to all of this is that my cyst is now gone, the endo that I didn't know I had has been removed, we can start IUI in July and my niece is a little fighter who is now home and hopefully won't need another operation until she is about 5 years old :)

The only worrying thing following my op is that the consultant has said that we need to get on with treatment before the endo comes back in case that is what has stopped us from getting pregnant. This means that they feel that IVF would be the best way forward. However, we can't afford it having just had our kitchen extended. Therefore, we've decided to give IUI at least one go first and to give us some brething space to save some more money for IVF.

Lynn, I know exactly how you must be feeling about your cyst. It's so frustrating!!! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that yours goes away or at least shrinks before they scan you again.

xx

Hi girls

Rebekah - that is a tough choice and im sorry but i have not been in that situation before. Its difficullt to say, but i think if it was me i may be tempted to go with more to increase my chances but then its easy to say when your not in that position. Have the hospital advised at all?

Hi fairydust have you any idea when u start iui?

Hi wannabemum82 wow youve had loads going on? I hope you are ok? Glad to here you can start treatment xfingers for you.

Hey girlies. Hi wannabe. So nice to hear from u again. U've had a lot to deal with recently. When do u think ull start ur iui?

There seems a few of us about to commence on iui around the same time which will be nice. My cyst is now 1.1cm which means I can start my nxt tx soon. They took bloods off to check my hormone profile and if that's fine then I'll get started on provera to bring on af. So I hope to start stimming nxt week.

Hi to rene princesslittlehead princess Rebekah fairydust.

Its something I don't know a lot about but I just googled it. I couldnt find a def scale to look at but one article I found says anything over 15 is fine. Women with pcos have an extremely high amh level. I don't know what mine is but I'm gonna ask now. If ur worried I'd phone clinic and ask them. Xxx

Congratulations Babymaybeme!!! That's wonderful news and so encouraging to know that it worked on the 2nd cycle :)

Lynn-so glad to hear your cyst has shrunk and that your hormone levels are good. How long do you think it'll take for AF to arrive???

PrincessRebekah-I had my AMH levels checked back in February and mine was 18.25 which is slight low for my age (I was 28 at the time) so, at 25 years old, yours result sounds fine however, I would ask your clinic to clarify as differnet clinics use different methods of measuring AMH from your blood test. Most ladies AMH reduced as they get older as you only have a certain number of eggs and the number of eggs reduces over time, up until you reach the menopause.

My AF is due at the end of next week and I can't wait! I really want to get on with treatment now that the endo has been removed as I really think this might be what has been preventing our dream becoming a reality ;). It looks like we will be buddies Princesslittlehead xfingers

How we all doing girls? Nice weekend? I spent the whole weekend gigging and im worn out! [zx062] 8|

Currently on CD23 of a 30/31 day cycle and am awaiting my HIV/HEP B/C results to be sent out- I already know theyre fine but the surgery have them on their computer and ive requested them to be sent to me. Apparantly that takes 2 weeks!! :cross: Theyve said they'll be there by this friday (CD27) and as soon as we have them, we can start IUI! Woohoo! We've filled in the all the consent forms apart from 1 of them, and I CANNOT WAIT to get started! :snigger:

Hope you're all well!

Hey everyone, just poping in to see how everyone is??

I managed to get my first scan changed to today instead of tomorrow so its at 3pm!! Plus nearl;y had a nightmare yesterday i rang the clinic to ask about changing appts and they said the new machine they have ordered still hadnt arrived!!! its to clean the sperm....they have had to cancel peoples iui cycles as it was suppose to arrive last week. But for once a bit of luck, it finally arrived yesterday afternoon so i can go ahead with my cycle!!!

Excited but nervous. Ill let you know how many folis I have! x

Hello, Im back and very excited!! My lining is over 9 and i have around 4 large folicles a couple measuring at 16 so I have to take my trigger shot tomorrow at 7pm then have the actual iui on Friday morning!!! Im so frigging nervous but excited at the same time. They showed me all the equipment and what they do etc and then at the end, how to do the injection. DF is doing that for me but im scared!! He has to do it in my bum

Can't believe its all starting!!! Oh n I asked how many cycles i would get and apparantly i will get 6 so very pleased with that.

Hows everyone else? x

Hi Ladies

It seems like it's gotten a bit busier on here now!

Princesslittlehead-I'm so excited for you hun woohoo I really hope it works for you first time but it's great for you to know that you get 6 goes at it. Unfortunately. I have to pay for my treatment so I'm really hoping it works first time too. I'm sure the injection will be ok...at least DF can give you lots of sympathy afterwards ;)

Princessrebekah - you are the same CD as me (CD25 for me today) but my cycle is usually 27 days. It looks like we'll also be cycle buddies!!! Keeping my fingers crossed that your results come through in time xfingers

Lynn-any sign of AF yet???

Fairydust-I hope you're ok hun. I know it always seems like things are getting in the way of your dream but you will get there! :xxx:

AFM - AF is due on either Friday or Saturday which is a bit of a pain as my clinic doesn't open at the weekend and they like to scan you on CD1-3 before you start treatment to check for cysts so I'll probably have to wait until Monday for that. I'm a bit nervous as I got as far as the first scan in April and that's when they found the cyst that I had to have removed....I really hope this time I can start IUI.

xx
