anybody know what could be wrong?

Me and my husband have been trying for our second baby for 2 years now and had a miscarriage at 15weeks a year ago we have been trying again since then and still nothing! I have had swab tests to check for any infection and blood tests to check if I was ovulating and like a general health check I think... They all came back clear. I have now been refferred to a gynocologist for further testing. My husbands doc refused to give him a sperm test because he said nothing was wrong as he had got me pregnant twice before and has a daughter from a previous relationship (altho it was over a year ago he got me preg) he really upset me refusing to do his test but he is going to come to my doc to ask for sperm test as she said she would say yes to doing one. Does anyone have any idea what else could be stopping me getting pregnant what the tests I have had so far couldn't show?

P.s I have a retroverted uterus and have had a cervical diathermy a year ago due to severe cervical erosion.

Someone please just give me your ideas? I know I have to speak to the doc but would just like to hear your thoughts until then? Please help? Xxx

Hi my lovely.
Its a tough one. There could be several factors here including that you have just been unlucky so far & that nothing is wrong.
Sometimes procedures can leave adhesions which can be a bugger.
I have secondary infertility after having 2 boys naturaly. I knew after an ectopic that it would be unlikely for me to concieve again as my other tube was found to be damaged too.
Once you are reffered for tests they will pick up on what is wrong. Unless you are diagnosed with unexplained. I may be wrong but the liklihood of unexplained I would thought would be low as you already have a child.

Sorry I cant be more help my lovely but sadly you will need to have some tests to find out IF there is a prob.

I wish you luck & I hope 2011 brings you your baby.

Hi Bethan,

I'm in a similar situation, TTC for nearly two years, my DS is nearly four and we had an early miscarriage early in 2010. My DH went to his GP and was also refused a sperm test, don't worry though when we went to the consultant at the hospital it was the first thing on the list for them to do, I've had day 3, and day 21 blood tests, various swabs, internal exams, an ultrasound and am going in on the 24th Jan for a lap and dye. I don't know what the next tests will be for you, but our experience has been excellent since we have been referred to the hospital.

I hope it all goes well, have you got your date at the hospital yet?

hun i hope your doc refers your hubby soon! my DH has a 10yr old girl from previous (he sadly does not see) ourson who is nearly 5yrs & we have just had ICSI which has worked so far!!! yehhh but he had sperm test befor my son and we were told we couldnt have any with out IVF but my son was naturally concieved!! but this time when we went to clinic and doctors and he had his sperm test again it was so low they basically said that his sperm count was now so low we had to strat treatment asap! he has testicluar faliure!! very very rare for someone his age (38yrs) apparently! so i would insist they test your DH, its so much simpler than all test we have to go through & will tell them alot! does annoy me when doc dont do their job properly!! we had to fight to get our 1st tests too as they said my DH was young and had 1 child already!! grrrrr

Hi Bethan,

Just had a quick read of this thread. I know what you mean about doctors. Unfortunately GPs are not specialists in, well anything, they're there to refer you on. I have to say I don't feel I've had much luck with the Consultants either, but I know lots of people on here have.

We've been trying for 3 and a half years and it is so frustrating an upsetting. We got pregnant at our very first attempt with DS, which as you say makes it all the harder to understand.

Good luck with your journey, I hope you get that longed for BFP soon. Take care, love, macD xxx
