Newbie needs advice!

Hi Everyone

We have been ttc since June 08, i was on depoprovera injection for 8 years so after a year of trying wasnt too stressed as the injection can take a while to leave your system.

Went to doc in Jan, did 3 months of blood tests - all fine

Hubbys sperm test fine

Had HSG in September - normal.

What next???? I was really really upset this month when my period arrived as they say after HSG you sometimes have higher fertility as youve been cleaned out. Ive been so postive up until now saying things like "when its meant to be it will happen etc" but am really starting to despair and get quite down.

Been using Clear Blue Fertlility Monitor since Nov 09 , i know i ovualte each month around day 14-16. We are both fit, healthy, have a good diet. WHERE ARE WE GOING WRONG!!

Meant to be getting another appointment at fertlilty clinic in November - WHAT WILL HAPPEN THEN?

:bawl:

HI Kermac

I've been in your shoes and i understand how frustrating it is. I think as you've probably done all the tests that it will be time to refer you for treatment. This might put you in a bit of a panic and upset you that it has come to this but believe me, once you have got used to the idea of getting help you will feel a lot better than wading through the ether hoping for something to happen naturally. It didn't' for me after nearly 3 years despite having all the components of a 'fertile' couple. I accepted in the end that it just wasn't going to happen naturally.

The doctor might suggest a number things: clomid (which I never opted for as I don't believe it's that helpful if you ovulate), IUI or IVF. We went straight for IVF and it worked first time.

Unexplained is a frustrating prognosis but in reality the stats are very much in your favour for treatment as there a fewer obvious obstacles in the way. My success rate for IVF based on my good test results was 50%, despite being 36 at the time. Lots and lots of luck to you. Remember that most people get there somehow in the end.

Hi Kermac
Your story is very similar to ours, there is absolutely no medical reason they have found as to why we can't conceive, but it still hasn't happened!
As Aramass says you will probably be offered clomid, IUI or IVF. Depending on your age you might want to try Clomid or IUI but their success rates are lower and I agree with Aramass that as clomid is for ovulation induction, there's not much point to it if you ovulate anyway. We opted straight for IVF and start in a couple of weeks. It's scary but once you get your head around it, it's better than month after month of frustration, as you feel you're doing something constructive. Do PM me any time if you want to ask anything about being unexplained, I will help if I can.
Good luck
