Help, my 8 month old keep rolling on her tummy while sleeping,

Is there anything I can do to prevent her from rolling ?

Soon as I roll her over she's back on the move again, i'm worried about SIDS or is 8 months an ok age to sleep on your belly?

she doesn't wake when I roll her back normally, any advice received grateful

Thanks Fiona

my DD started to do it about 7 months I think, I was like you soooo worried but then gave up as basically she loves to sleep in this position and seems very comfortable. I've read that SIDS is almost impossible to happen after 6+ months. Again I do understand your worries but I think it's rather natural, since they discover different positions they want to sleep this way, be in this position. Sorry can't give much of advice just to share the same experience really :)

Hey Fiona, like Ginger said I think you just need to let her get on with it. I was also the same with Will and even bought one of those sleeping aids to keep him, on his back but he hated it and just loves to travel in his sleep. As he has gotten older, his positions have got worse and I never know what I'll find these days :snigger:

Try not to worry sweetie

I asked my MW about this as I was worried as J did it a couple of times when he was only a couple of months old and she said that provided he's putting himself onto his tummy rather than being put onto his tummy then it's fine. I think it's only a problem when they are so little and imobile that they can't roll move if they get into to trouble but at 8 months she should be easily able to change to another position.

ah fiona, she is adorable - your little girl, I am sure she will be fine, I used to go and check my DD all the time but now she sleeps all the time on her tummy and seems she loves this position!

M is 5 months and does this so reassuring that others think it is ok. Her cot antics are varied but i wish she wouldn't choose 3am to get herself wedged sideways, on her front with her face pressed against the bars!

Baby bubs slept on her front from about 5 months onwards (her choice) and still does. Like has been said so long as they are putting themselves there and can also roll out of the position then its fine.

The cot positions just get better Jen. A couple of days ago baby bubs properly screamed out whilst napping - she'd managed, whilst within her gro-bag, to get her leg wrapped around two bars, in and out of the gaps! Cracking bruise afterwards.

ttc since July 06. 8 cycles of clomid. BFP on cycle 5 (Dec 07) ended in m/c at 9.5 weeks. Second BFP on cycle 8 (May 08)
