we have been told that we need to go for icsi asap before its too late (my hubby has very low sperm too)

but i was told that my fsh could go from mily elevated too really high in a matter of months & this could mean i have no eggs left!!!

any one know if this is true?? what it all really means?? is 10.9 high?? does it mean i have less eggs or am pre menapausal!! all a bit of a shock when im only 27!! :(

No, it can't happen overnight!

Also, you can't be diagnosed with *just* your FSH results, you need to know what your EST levels were on the same test.

Have a read through these threads, they explain a great deal more

Anybody out there with high FSH at 32?? (about to start IVF)

Hi Mum 82, welcome to FZ, great place to find answers to all your questions! You sound like I did earlier..in a bit of a muddle. I was worried about my results too and feeling very disheartened. My FSH was at 14 last August, then down to 11 and latest at 8. I don't think 10 is too bad at all. Anyway, read up on the links that Eeyore gave you, I found them really helpful, definitely put my mind at ease. Lots of luck to you and hope all goes well for you. xx

Your FSH levels are not that bad sweetie. I think they like them to be under 10. They cannot tell from FSH levels alone and other things need to be taken into account as well. It would be worth you getting your specialist to run through all the things they tested. My FSH levels fluctuate too, but not about 14 as far as I know. I had my first IVF in January and responded very well to drugs, producing 16 eggs and fertilising 12. Haven't got my BFP yet, but not giving up hope! Wishing you all the best sweetie xxx

Hi

They really can't base your diagnosis on two FSH results alone, you need to get your EST levels from those tests and also have day 21 bloods done to check your progesterone levels too. Can you speak to your GP/consultant and get the full breakdown of the bloods from your last two FSH tests?

think the reason they are rushing us is because my hubbys last sperm test was only 11 counted sperm!!! but they just dont tell u anything!! and havent offered hubby any more tests or reasons to why its gone down so much in last 6 yrs!!!! grrrr

hope when we get to private clinic they will spend bit more time explaining things!! ?? lets hope

That is an outrage! They simply can't diagnose you or your DH in this way.

It's not acceptable for them to say the others are 'ok' - you have a right to know the exact numbers on these tests, call them, ask for them and then post them here so one of us can have a look at them. Don't be fobbed off, you are entitled to see them.

Likewise with you DH's result, they must offer you a second test in a few months time as there can be many, many reasons as to why his result was bad - did they give you the exact mumbers in this case too, not just the 11, but everything else?

Ask for copies, rather than have them read out over the phone, that way there can't be any mistakes. When you have them, post in this thread as I've added it to my subscriptions and will then see as soon as you reply.

Hope that helps x

Hi Mum82, try not to worry too much. The nurse at my clinic told me that FSH levels are not seen to be as reliable anymore anyway. Sometimes you can get a higher reading simply because it was taken on the 'wrong' day in your cycle. Good luck, Cathy xxx

Hi

Have you read through the links that I posted for you above?

There are many reasons why your FSH can vary a little from month to month and as explained above, you need your complete day 3 blood results, not just the FSH result as you need to look at the EST level and the relationship between the two.

I have to disagree with Cathy I am afraid. FSH tests are most certainly reliable when they are taken correctly and read correctly and they are still used in the majority of clinics.

Sorry to keep harping on, but a reply of 'normal' is not acceptable, as I replied before you need to get your FULL breakdown of your results which is just a quick phonecall to your surgery - they will have the full results on your notes and have to give them to you.

Hi Mum82, just want to wish you luck hun, I hope AF behaves and you manage to get bloods on the right day.

As for the cost of the AMH, mine would have cost 240 euro at my clinic, but my GP said they could do it (50 euro). Had it done with GP but honestly wish I hadn't, it took the whole month to get the results back, just in time I might add. It definitely wasn't worth the stress to save the extra money.

Anyway lots of luck to you. xx
