Hi Everyone,

Thanks for all your kind words. I am feeling a bit better and we're seeing the consultant next week to discuss our next steps. We're still unsure about where to go next- in someways 2 more IUIs before IVF won't hold things back too much longer (and they will still be NHS funded) and then we are entitled to 1 NHS funded IVF so it would give us a bit longer to try and start saving towards funding the next one ourselves. But Nikki I'm quite curious like you to see if me eggs even fertilise with DH's boys. As for his sperm- I think the count is a little low- normally 4.5-5.5 million for IUI and once it was only 1 million. He has diabetes and retrograde ejaculation because of this so it's all a bit complicated I guess.

We'll see what the doc says, but I am also tempted by the higher percentage of IVF but then if that doesn't work we don't really have anywhere else to go. Hmm..

Glad you are feeling better flower, and I'm afraid we have all our timings predicted by my blood results at the clininc- so no smiley faces for me either.

Good Luck Ladies on getting your BFP..

AFM: Another BFN looks like :bawl: as AF is trying to show up but not full force yet. I've been bleeding some but no clots just smooth bleed not enough on pad only when wipe but having some strong cramps so I look for her to be here very soon. When I go back to our RE in July I will post how the visit goes an when he will be doing IUI again. Guess it's time to do the Lap an find out what is wrong with me... ?(

Take Care will check back after RE appointment in July..

Hey Katiebee - Im so sorry I have only read your post today and Im absolutely gutted for you! Was praying it was your time this month.......hope you are feeling much better now and after having a wee bit of time to get used to it. Im sure you and your DH are having some quality time together and trying to get your head around everything. As for your next steps I know what you mean about moving on to IVF and if that doesnt work then thats it......Im not sure if being stuck not knowing is better or more heart breaking? But I agree with NikkiH about wanting to know if Nicks boys even like my eggs? What if they dont and every month here we are injecting hormones and putting all of our emotions out there......my decision was made for me as the hospital where we pay to have IUI (as its not funded by the NHS in fife) would only let me do two - so we are now paying for IVF as I would have to wait another year before getting it on the NHS ggrrrr..... After you have spoken to the consultant you will get a clearer picture of how you both should move forward. Its going to have lovely lady its just a shame none of us know when.

Thinking of you soooo much xxxxxxxx

I'm so excited can't hardly eat

I talked to my RE nurse today an we've got our appointment with our RE for June next week to have my DH SA done an then the RE is going to talk to us about going ahead an doing the Lapscope surgery.. I'm so excited an nervous that I can't stand it. AF showed up today an so that is a plus in lots of ways..

My Dh was suppose to go to his specialist this month but the appointments had to be changed around due to the holidays... So maybe it happen for a reason now..

Everyone please keep your fingers cross that all goes good with our appointment next week.. xfingers

Aghh! Last minute decision with DH last night to go for our last iui this month. Kind of makes sense as not yet back at work full time so easier to juggle the appointments. Just haven't quite got my head around starting all those scans and injections again after a 3 month break. Well, scan no 1 today so am sure my head will be jolted into submission!

Hi everyone, hope youve all had a good week.Nice to see the sunshine back.

Harry - Hope your scan went well ttoday, youll be back in the flow before you know it. Keeping everything crossed for you.

Slyfoxey - good luck fo for your appointment next week- sounds like a really positive step forward.

Katiebee - hope your appointment with the consultant goes well and it helps you with your next steps.

Flower - Re my smiley faces - i have to do my ovulation testing via wee sticks and then go for blood tests when i get a smileyface, but like Katiebee says every clinic does it different.

I had my second IUI on Tuesday, they changed my drugs again and now i need to inject - first night i was the biggest drama queen ever about the injections!! It all went a bit wrong due to us not reading the instructions properly but now i think ive nearly mastered it :o). So im back on the 2WW - test day 15th June!

Hope you all have agood weekend and have a fab holiday Lozza.

Hi everyone

This is my first post on this thread as I'm really new to FZ. It would be really nice to speak to other people who are going through or have been through IUI.

I'm due to start my first cycle of IUI when my AF comes, which is this Thursday. I'm feeling a little apprehensive but mainly excited. I didn't expect to feel like this going into treatment. I'm just wondering if anyone else felt excited prior to beginning treatment. My main concern is that I could be setting myself up for a fall by feeling this way. I'm sure its a good thing to feel positive but I can't help but think that if it doesn't work I'm going to be gutted.

Hi Aly! Welcome!

Definitely normal to feel excited/relieved/apprehensive etc. After a frustrating time of TTC, I think it feels good to be able to take control and do something positive i.e. start treatment. It's too hard to try to control emotions just to avoid a fall though most of us would admit to trying that approach in the 2ww.

This site is great with some lovely supportive people on it so you can feel how you feel and there will be support whatever. Lots of luck!

welcome Aly48

BIG HUGGIES katiebee im thinking of you hun.

Harry way to go this may be your month hehehe

Thinking of Lozza, JLC slyfoxy Julz hope i havent missed anyone.

I dont know how to say this without upsetting anyone bcos thats not what i want to do, as you all know i took this month off and i really did not think about trying, other than bd'ing every night nearly, also buying some sketchers shape up sandals and going for loads of walks every day. Well we are in total shock !!

i am on my 29th cycle day and its very early days but im pregnant, i did a few tests yesterday on the internet cheapies and got a very faint positive, last night we went and got a frer and did the test today and its definitely a :BFP:

I seriously thought i was just getting my AF as i had alot of pain from day 25 to day 27 and what felt like cysts busting again. We are just in total shock.

Hi all.

Thanks for making me so welcome, its nice to have somewhere to come to share my thoughts and feelings.

Harry I think you summed up all the feelings I'm having. I think your right, its best just to go with whatever I'm feeling, so I'm going to let myself be excited.

I have noticed though that a lot of women seem to overstim on their first go of IUI. Is this due to just trial and error with medications? If you do overstim what happens, do they just cancel treatment? If treatment is cancelled do you have to pay for the next cycle?

Congratualtions Spookylady that is fantastic news, you must feel over the moon. XX

Congratulations Spooky Lady- what fantastic news, so wonderful especially as it's natural. Wisjing you lots of love for a healthy pregnancy!!

Welcome to Aly, I totally agree with harry om all the feelings- it's tough but will be all worth it! We do often tend to overstimulate on the first go and I think you're right, it is a bit of trial and error with the drugs. Mostly they do cancel the cycle (and for us it counted as one of our NHS goes) but for some people I know they have done follicle reduction, but I think that depends on the clinic and how much you overstimulate by.

Good luck hon and we will all be here to support you through it and to celebrate your success!!

Hope it's going well harry and your growing some juicy follies!!

Thank you all for your lovely kind words :) if it wasnt for you i dont think i would of got through the iui's.

Its very early days for me yet as i will be classed as high risk.

I am now routing for everyone of you we need a lil bean from each of you every month this year so you must keep all your PMA's up, im also chucking loads of baby dust your way so we can all still be together on our journey's.

I really dont think i could of managed to get to this point without you all and i thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Hi everyone.

Thanks for your replies, they've been really helpfull.

Katiebee, thanks for your info on overstimulating. I'm a bit worried about this happening as each attempt costs alot. Although it is our first attempt so we've only got to pay for this attempt at the min we're busy saving for IVF too because the clinic has only recommended one go at IUI before going straight to IVF. We have male factor problems, these being low motility with 14% fast swimming. The count is good though which is why they said its worth giving IUI a go.

JLC1, its nice to hear that I can come on here regardless of my moods lol. I can pretty much guarantee that there could be mood swings, I've definatly had a few of those since we started on our TTC journey.

Hope everyones having a lovely day, despite this miserable weather.

ok im going to send everyone some of our weather over, its hot and muggy here so dont complain when you get it :)

katiebee your next hun im praying for you. fingers and toes crossed for your next appointment hope it all goes well.

Aly get your hubby on multi vitamins it helps alot with the male factor, you also should be on some prenatal ones which has 1mg of folic acid in them and taking an additional 4 mg folic acid as this should be in your body prior to getting pregnant.

Who's on the 2ww currently is it just jlc1 ? keep that pma up hun :) 2 baby announcements in june would be ace for us in this thread.

Harry hope your drinking so much water its busting out of you to get them follies nice and ripe :D

Hope Lozza is having a fabulous holiday anyone know where she went?

Hows julz doing ?

magic what date have you been given? cant believe you havent got morning sickness yet, i had it all day yesterday on and off but it could of been the shock. My sis worked out my date and claims its the 14 feb.

Ive got the family quacks appointment later today so i should be getting my bloods done for the confirmation and so i can find out the hcg levels. im high risk and have a 50% of miscarriage but fingers crossed i have a great sticky. i never ever thought i'd get this far.

Hi Spookylady

Hubbys been taking multivitamins now for nearly a year and I've been on mine for even longer lol. Not really sure if its made a difference with his sperm but it helps to think we're at least making positive steps.

Sorry to hear you've got morning sickness, but what a fantastic reason to be sick hey lol.

If your date is February 14th, then what a lovely day to be expecting a baby. It would be a valentines day you'd never forget.

Thanks for sending the weather over, looking forward to it arriving.

Harry did they say they would cancel it ? my last iui i had, i actually had 13 follies and cysts but still went through with it. I think as long as the others dont get too big they are fine.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for hun that they will go a head once that 12.5mm gets to the right size.

Hi Spookylady,

They cancelled my first IUI due to 7 or 8 follies and didn't advise follicular reduction. The doc wasn't hugely positive this morning. He said it might be ok but 5 in a similar range means we have to hope 2 or 3 take off and the others stay behind. It's this go and then IVF - scary!

How's the morning sickness?

Hello,

Magic- so good that you've not had any sickness! I hope you continue to feel brilliant all the way through. Keep us updated as you go through.

Harry- I'm keeping my fingers crossed that your follies start to behave themselves and you can have your IUI. Getting cancelled is so frustrating and you are still left feeling hormonal!

We had our appointment today, saw a lovely doc- the first time we've been able to see a doc sonce August! So they have advised that although the eggs are good and the sperm is good it's not happened so IVF is the next step. He said that we can then see how the eggs and spermies are doing together! So we will start end of sept/ early october. So back to the waiting game but I'm feeling positive to be trying sonething new and am actually loking fowards to having some time off from it all and living a normal life for a bit!

I'll be keping a close eye on you all and celebrating all the IUI BFPs!!!

Just a update of what happened today.. Sorry this is long. But was a BAD DAY. :bawl:

Went to our RE appointment this morning & my DH had a SA done his sc has dropped from 52million down to 7million. X( He had been drinking more regular cokes and his sc has dropped thanks to him drinking them his sperm count has dropped majorly. So IMO it’s proven facts that caffeine screws up mans sperm count. I told my DH NO MORE CAFFINE AT ALL!! He’s going to drink more water an nothing but water.. His count might had been low but the motility of his sperm has came up more from 69% up to 81% so that is good but I wished his sperm count was higher instead of dropped again. I’m beginning to lose hope in lots of ways on getting pregnant again. Fighting this IF is soo hard to fight but still going to hang in.

Our RE said he will not do the lap tomorrow but going to try to get it set for this coming Tuesday. He has to get the insurance to approve the surgery an then it will be a go. He don’t believe there is anything wrong with me but he wants to make sure nothing is going on with me so he going to do a lap/ HSG to make sure all things are good but he told us today he believes it’s all falling onto my DH since he a type 2 diabetic along with weight problem. Our RE wasn’t mean but he told my DH up front I’m afraid all of it is you not your wife. My DH took it good an said he understood. We will keep going an not stop yet.

Our RE said he going to check me out more to make 100% sure there is nothing going on then he said if we get to do the lap/hsg done this coming up Tuesday then after I get AF again then he will be starting IUI’s again NO injectables due to he said it will not help me since DH has sperm issues. Since DH sperm count is at 7million with motility at 81% he wants to try doing 3 IUI’s to see if can get it to work before moving on to IVF/ICSI. I’m not 100% sure what med he will put me back on but more likely taking 5mg Femara again alone with OPK testing to look for the LH surge an do the IUI’s. If after doing 3 IUI’s and not pregnant then we will be moving on to IVF/ICSI due to DH sperm issues.

I thought we would get great news about his sperm count since the last time his sperm count was 52million but OH NO bad news in certain ways. Our RE did give me a hug and said we get there just hang in there. I feel really bad right now an sad but at least have a RE that is willing to help us try to get to our goal.

Now I want to wish everyone good luck on their 2ww an may you all get your BFP soon... Will keep my xfingers for all of you all.

THanks for the support too.

Harry dont stress over it, i know its hard hun but let me do the stressing for you :) fingers toes lips and everything else crossed for you. xxxx
Katiebee so sorry its going to be a while, but the break will do you good and get your hormones down and make you more relaxed, now you know your taking a break keep off the net for at least a couple of days and get your romance back, do loads of b'ding and enjoy yourself. Thats what i did hun, keeping everything crossed and praying we may get some good news from you in a month or two, a lovely lil boy :)

Slyfox lol males for you what can i say, they are all the same, your mortility is really good though and you only need 1, think of this as the calm before the storm , its god testing you hahhahaha me thinks you might also be getting a boy in the not to distant future.

Morning sickness is yuk it keeps coming on in waves and i keep going dizzy. My family quack rang me this afternoon my hcg results came in at 72 not bad at 4 wks but she states it early days yet i have another hcg on friday, shes been in touch with my gynae quack and hes told her i need to be on the blumming horrid progesterone suppositories and increased it to 2 a day for 12 weeks :/ Also got confirm im AB NEG so another point added to the high risk category lol.

Hi ladies,

Sorry I've not been on but been having a bit of an awful time of it.

Last Thurs we went for our 8wk scan to find out there was a pregnancy and yolk sac but not fetal pole or heartbeat. We were gutted. They said at this point they really should see baby clearly. We were told to come back for another scan in a week... tha makes it tday.

Well after being kept waiting nearly an hour we finally got taken in and they did a scan and sadly there has been no change. The sac has grown ever so slightly but not by enough and is actually dating 6+3. So it is the end of the road for us on this pregnancy. As you can imagine we are devastated. Can't quite believe that we had been so lucky after all this time and it has ended so quickly.

We are taking today to decide how we progress and if we opt for a natural miscarriage, medical or D&C. I think we will likely go with the D&C. I don't feel pregnant anymore and can't bare the though of this dragging on for weeks and not sure I can deal with all the bleeding and cramping and everything. At least this way we can get some closure.

I have asked about the next tx and they said at the review they now recommended ICSI as the last IUI sample was so low and apparently a lot of them were stuck together. But the dr did say that she would bring it up at the review that we did still get a BFP so would it be worth giving us our last shot. I'm not keen and would rather go back to ICSI but DH is hopeful for it and wants to get all out of the NHS that we pay our taxes for. But then we should be at the top of the ICSI list in Sept, fine, a couple natural cycles then get ready for it, but no of course, they would only call us up then and likely tx wouldn't start until the new year. It is just ridiculous! So we have decided that if they don't give us the IUI or if they do and it is unsuccessful that we will talk about going back to the private clinic where we had our first ICSI.

I hope that none of you have to go through this, the reality is some will, some won't and some already have. Sending you all the best of luck with your TXs and hope that you all get sticky BFPs!

jxx

Oh no Julz, I am so very sorry. Will be thinking of you as you decide what to do over the next few days. I think a few of us have had miscarriages - I remember hormones and emotions all over the place. My miscarriage was spontaneous (I think you call it that) so didn't get a choice about what to do. The cramps were bad but didn't last very long but I guess in your case, the waiting for that to happen could be hard and I can see why you might favour the D&C. Whatever you choose, really hope you can get some rest and some space for the two of you to comfort each other.

Slyfoxy, sounds like you've had a nightmare too! Men! I try to get my DH to cut down on beer (his passion!) and cycling and it's such hard work. Glad yours has taken the RE's comments well - that could have been tricky! The motility sounds good though and surely it just needs one of those 7 million little swimmers to do its work...Good luck!

Hi ladies.

I've spoke with some of you before on here but not all of you so just saying a quick hi.

Quick update, My AF arrived this evening so I'm going to ring fertility clinic tomorrow so I can start first IUI. KInd of excited, but very nervous.

Spookylady, hope everthings going ok with you and your morning sickness/dizzy spells aren't giving you too many problems.

Harry, hope things with your treatment are going ok. I'm only just about to start my treatment so alot of what you talked about in your message I don't understand. I really hope you get to go ahead with your IUI.

Hi Slyfox, I haven't spoke to you before but just wanted to say hi. My DH has a few issues with his sperm. When we talked about him cutting out his caffeine intake due to cola he was not happy lol, but luckily I do the shopping so I just stopped buying it. He was never really a big alcohol drinker so he never missed that but sometimes I do catch him looking longingly at cold cans of coke when we go to the local shops. I had a lap/dye not long ago just to check if things were ok with me too. Hope all goes well with any future treatments you have.

Hi Julz, again I've never spoke to you personally yet. I just wanted to say I'm so sorry to hear what your going through, I can't imagine how you must be feeling at the minute. Take care of yourself sweetie.

Oh Julz, I' so so sorry to read your post. I can't write anything that will make you feel any better but I'm thinking of you and your DH and sending you lots of love and a big hug. How awful and what a difficult choice. we are all here with you for whatever steps you decide to take next. There is so much waiting for things that I think it makes it all a lot harder. Like you say you have got a BFP with an IUI so it could work again. Good luck dealing with the bloomin clinics and their waiting lists.

Sly fox, sorry you've been having a tough old time of it too. I know you worried about Mr's sperm count, but mine had 4.5 million each IUI and the clinc said that was fine- as the pop it above your cervix. Apparently when you go au naturel only about a million get through your cervix anyway... so I think you are in with a good chance and there are ladie son here whose DH's have had 2 million and had successful IUIs. Keeping my fingers crossed for you. As for the issues of getting them to look after themselces is so o hard!! Mine has cut down on drinking but keeps saying all these men becaome fathers who drink and smoke etc etc.. Hmm.

Harry- any news on your follies and this cycle.. I'm hoping things are looking good for you hon. If not then I guess yuo'll be great at producing follies in IVF!!

Aly- how exciting, you'll be a pro at all this IUI business before you know it! Good luck at clininc and let us know how you get on.

I'm letting it all sink in that we are having a little break and am thinking about booking a hol in August- anyone have any ideas for somewhere warm but not too boiling?

Hi Ladies

Rang clinic this morning as advised. I'm now on 2nd day of AF, Monday is my 5th. They've made me an appointment for 10am Monday to have a scan and to go through how to use the medications.

Katiebee, I hope I'll pick it up easily and become a pro. It seems confusing but I'm sure when your in the middle of it all it just starts to make sense.

HI Ladies

Julz, so sorry to hear your news, sending you lots of hugs and strength to do get through the coming weeks, make sure you take time out for yourselves xx

Harry how did your appt go today - hoping you didnt have too many big follies and you are able to carry on.

Katiebee - so pleased to hear your appointment went well.Enjoy your couple of months off and good luck for your IVF

Skyfoxey - sorry to hear your having a hard time - sounds like you have a plan though and a willing DH which is a real big positive

Magic and Spookeylady - hope your keeping well

Flower - hows things with you?

im just nearing the end of my 2ww - test day on Tuesday. Its gone really quick(unusually) but i think this is because i started my new job and ive just been so busy i havnt had time to think about everything else - so its been quite a blessing in a way as i havnt spent the whole time looking at early pregnancy symptoms on the web!! Not thinking im pregnant, as have period pains tho have had quite a few days with huge nips(TMI!!) but my DH is loving it so there is a bonus to be had :o)
We are having a world cup party tomorrow so have lots of friends over with most staying which means i have no oppertunity to cheat so am now deterimined to get to official test day.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend

Surgery Tuesday Evening..

:hello: my lovely lady friends.
Here is what is going on with me now.
I went for my pre-op & pre-testing yesterday morning. The pre-op wasn't bad first thing that happen was we meet with my RE main nurse she checked my blood pressure, temperature, pulse an weight, then she said anther doctor will be coming in to talk to us asking me questions about what I was allergy too. The doctor came in & was very friendly, shook our hands an then sat down he started asking me hundreds of questions plus questions about my family history alone with monthly cycles how they ranged. He took all of them notes & explained some about the surgery that I will be having plus told me all about the risks there is when having this surgery. Then he said our RE will come in to explain more about the surgery & other things he will be doing a HSG if he find any problems he will do a Hysteroscopy instead of doing just 2 things. Our RE came in to talk to us about the surgery he explained it all, told us about the risk an said he will be doing the HSG first then after that doing the laparoscopic surgery. I will be totally be asleep while this is all going on. I asked him seem like hundreds of questions. I asked about could they give me something to help calm me down an he said oh yes they will an I will not know hardly anything an later will be put all the way under. They will be numbing me from the shoulders down an a machine will be doing the breathing for me because he don’t want any movements at all or it could cause injury.

Now that part scares me but the RE and his staff told me everything will be fine don’t be scared. After that meeting then we went to the pre-testing area. What they do there is take all information about your insurance, asked who will be with you & then you go have blood drawn, then a nurse comes out to talk to you about what you can eat & what you can take, ask you more questions about your history. I was told I could eat like regular today and tomorrow but Monday morning I go on a clear liquid diet then when Tuesday morning comes at 7am I will not be aloud drink or eat anything until after the surgery. The nurse told me if I can't keep no food down after the surgery they will be keeping me overnight to keep watch on me.

I go in the hospital at 1:30pm to check in,they will get me ready for my IV to be put in my hand, they said they will numb my hand before putting the IV in so it will not hurt as bad, then given a medicine to help calm my nerves, shortly will have my HSG then onto my lap. The first medicine will make me really sleepy. I will not know much anything at all then shortly they will put me under for all the stuff.

We will be leaving home Monday morning 11am to get to our hotel & stay there that night so will not have to travel for 2 ½ hrs Tuesday morning, then check into the hospital we’re trying to make things easier. We will be staying at the hotel Monday until Thursday then home. This was lot of my DH idea due to he wants us to be close to the hospital incase infection sets up or something happens. He wants me to be protected as much possible. He a little scared but keeps telling me over an over everything will be ok..

Sorry this was so long but wanted to give everyone update of what is going on with us. Please forgive me for this been that long. This information will give others a idea what may or may not happen to them.

So please pray, keepxfingers that everything goes great that nothing really bad happens… I will not be back online until I get over this surgery. My mother is going be staying with us until I can get back on my feet. So guess you say she's going to baby me for a while.. We go back to our RE July 7 to be rechecked an then around July 26 AF show back up then we will be preparing for a start of IUI's again.

Thanks for all of your support.

To everyone I will keep my xfingers that you all get your BFP's very soon. I will be thinking of all my friends on here & praying you all don't have to go through all this stuff I'm going through to get your BFP an baby to love. Hopefully my 11 yrs of TTC for another child will soon be over.

God Bless you my friends.

Love SLYFOXY

Hello all,

Hope you had a great weekend.

Slyfoxy - lots of luck for the lap if you get this before your op. Hope it all goes smoothly.

JLC - well done on resisting those test sticks until tomorrow! And loads of luck for the big test day tomorrow.

I'm scheduled for IUI tomorrow. Follies started behaving and this morning had 1 at 20mm and 2 at 16.2mm. Clinic wanted to scan on Sunday but was going away for the weekend so had a funny weekend of doing ovulation tests and carrying my Pregnyl around in case of a smiley face, trying to find somewhere to keep it cold on the flight, in the hotel etc! No smiley faces on the sticks so I was back there this morning and will do my trigger shot this afternoon. Has anyone else had to do their own Pregnyl injections? Looks complicated but will just have to work it out!

Hi Harry,

Great news that it's all set to happen for you! I have done mine each time, I have always needed more than 1 set of hands to hold the little vials while I take the liquid up! The instructions on the packet are v good and you will be fine! They can just be a bit fiddly breaking open the little bottles! Good luck hon.

Sly- I'm hoping and praying for you too.

JLC1 good luck hon for testing, let us know how you go xx

Oh I'm so sorry honey, give yourself sometime to feel sad honey. It's so hard everytime it doesn't work. You are one step closer to your BFP and it will be your time soon hon, it's just horrible not knowing when that will be. Good luck talking to the clininc and working out the next steps. Sending you lots of love and a big hug xxxx

Thanks girls for all your support, it means a lot to me.

Ive stopped sulking, spoken to the clinic, cant get a review appt til 7th July, they offered for us to do another IUI whilst we wait but think i need a month off from all the drugs, agreed with them that i would take clomid only and do a monitoring cycle to see if my lining has grown on its own(with the help of acupuncture) or if only the drugs are making it grow. Then we can have a review appt and see if we have another IUI or need to go another path.So im happy i have a plan and going to look forward to a month off.

Hope all went well today for you harry and Slyfoxy.

Good Luck Flower - make sure you tell them ovvies not too get too excited this time :o)
