Vitamin supplements with twins

My obstetrician has put me on iron tablets, calcium + vitamin D as well as a mega dose of folic acid to stop the twins depleting all my reserves.

He told me it was best to take one (either iron or calcium) with a glass of orange juice because the vitamin C helps absorption and not to take the other at the same time as milk/dairy. But in my relief at seeing my babies happily kicking each other in the head I wasn't concentrating and I can't remember which way round it was. Please can someone remind me???

Thanks lovely ladies.

Hi Newlywed

You'll probably find something about what *not* to take the pills within the leaflets that come with them.

My pregaday tablets (iron) state ...

Quoted

If you drink tea, coffee or milk or eat eggs at the same time as taking Pregaday tablets, your body may absorb less of the iron contained in the tablets.

So guessing that it's the calcium pills you take with OJ and for the iron ones you just avoid taking with milk/dairy.

Why not just give your obstetrician a wee call to clarify which is to be taken with what.

Vitamin C increases the absorption of iron, so take the iron with your OJ
