Staying Posiitve

Hello all

Just wondered how everybody was at staying positive - I'm IVF pre- ET and I'm the most negative person around (DH says it being so miserable that keeps me happy) - I'm trying to see a positive - but don't want to get my hopes up for everything to fail.

Any tips of positivity?

Hi kd40,
It can be hard to stay positive, especially if you are not normally a positive person!
I'd advise that you keep yourself busy instead. It helps if you have some distractions, and some milestones other than those in a treatment cycle. For example, focus on really healthy living. Learn some recipes, go for long walks, take up a class in something.
Hope that helps hon!

Hi kd40,

Mavis is right, it can be difficult to stay positive during TX but it really does help how you feel if you can try. I found that you have to try and find things to distract yourself from what is going on, I got caught up in a good book for example. Trying to take it easy after ET is vitally important from an emotional point of view, have you thought about having some acupuncture done? I found this to be very helpful.. You can find a list of registered practitioners on the British Acupuncture council website (please note that this site is not endorsed by FZ).
I also tried to use visualisation to help, I imagined what my embryos were doing, snuggling down and implanting and getting nice and comfy in Mummys tum :-)

good luck xx

You could try hypnotherapy. You can easily get hold of CDs online for hypnotherapy specially for IVF treatment. Zita West is very well known. I found hynotherapy (that I did at home) really helpful. It made me feel great and really positive. Walks can be good too. But don't worry if you're not feeling positive all the time. That would be a tall order! Best of luck, Cathy
