Could we get pregnant naturally?

Hi,
PLease help - I'm very confused!

My DH and I have been trying to get pregnant for 11 cycles now. 5 months ago my DH had a sperm analysis and the morphology came back as being very low. The results were:

4.5 ml volume
87 million per ml
57% combined a and b motility (23% rapid progressive)
2% morphology

He gave another sample a month and a half ago and the results came back:
4 ml volume
80 million per ml
35% motility (8% rapid progressive)
10% morphology

The consultant said that it was mild male factor and has referred us to bourn hall. He said that we would probably have IUI before moving to IVF ICSI.

Is it possible to get pregnant naturally with these numbers? My husband is taking loads of supplements but I am worried he is having too much Zinc as I've heard that this can have a negative impact on motility. Also, should he cut out coffee. He only has a cup or two a da but I've read different reports on this.

Thanks

Molly,

I would say anything is possible!! It only takes one, remember. Of course, an IUI would give better odds. It might take longer trying naturally...but I am sure it could happen!!!

Thanks holly and tracey for your welcome and kind words. I've been reading the
posts on here for a while now but never joined in. This week has been really hard
though with a good friend having her baby and a colleague announcing out of the
blue that she was off for a scan. And AF arrived. Posting on here has already helped.
Infertility is just so cruel. Even typing the word is hard. My DH keeps telling
me that I have to keep positive but as the months tick by it just gets harder.
Thanks for listening

Hi,

sorry, it's me again. I don't know if sperm scientist or Paul can answer this but are my DH's numbers enough for IUI? I guess my consultant thinks they are if he has suggested that this is what Bourn Hall will probably go for first. What do you think?

Thanks
Molly
