Coffee and sperm

Hi,

My DH finally got to see an urologist last week. Prior to this he had had two semen tests done and our GP had thought the findings (can't remember the exact figures any more) were below average.

I do remember that there were antibodies found (40% in the last one) and his swimmers were 'sluggish' but generally swimming in the right direction. All other things were either in the normal range or above normal range.

DH likes to remind me that the quantity per whatever was 4x the normal range. :snigger:

So DH went to the specialist and the dr looked at the results and said they were all normal and fine. ?( That DH was doing everything right and since we have been TTC for three years, the fault obviously lays with me.

I haven't finished doing all my tests yet, so despite getting the all clear so far I know there could be something wrong with me. But the specialist said to DH: "I've seen much worse results than this and those men have all conceived naturally".

How on earth does that help matters?!

The dr did order a blood test and another SA to if there's perhaps an infection. But then was told to book another appointment for three month's time.

On leaving the dr said to drink a cup of coffee (which DH hates) an hour before sex as this will hype up his little swimmers. Has anyone heard of this? Is it true? Can it help?

Hello, I dont know how true it is, but I have heard before that caffiene can perk up the swimmers! Its bad for women ttc but small amount is good for men. Maybe try coke if he hates coffee.
Have you tried the herb Maca? Thats supposed to be really good for the swimmers.

I don't drink coffee and the dr laughed when DH asked if coke or red bull could substitute.

Have heard of Maca but I struggle enough to get DH to take zinc once a day, he would not like a cocktail of tablets to take each day
