normal AMH.FSH yet poor response...anyone?

has anyone else had to abandon a cycle due to poor response yet normal range amh and low fsh?

the only thing that looks a little wrong with my bloods is LH is very low at 0.1 and this can indicate prolonged down regulation!

just interested as to how many of us have this issue

what protocol did you use to get a good response

i have responsed ok on 3 cycles yet last cycle was abandoned on day 11 of stimms

Hi Kar, well as you know my first attempt was cancelled due to poor response,(which was long protocol) and if i'm totally honest, i really dont know what protocol suited me best, i've tried long short, and antagonist, and i think overall they were all pretty much the same, but i think the short protocol i had a few more follies.

LOL Dont think i helped much but wishing you lots of luck

unsure if i will be classed as a poor responder:

my AMH is 22.1 FSH 7.something and after stimming for 12 days on 225iu menopur i only got 4 lead follicles (18-20mms) 3 eggs/2 fertilised, both poor quality!!

will find out on thursday when i should go back for follow up appointment. was my 1st cycle but with my AMH i expected a much better responce!
dont know about the bloods - day9 of stimms i had a blood level of 42? and on day 12 it was 14?? i am clueless as to what that means!!

i hope your clinic takes good care of you

xXx

i had prostrap then suprecur till EC
menopur 225iu for stimming 11 days

with my higher amh i had thought i would be on a lower dose of menopur but i am 13stone (and a half thanks to pigging out on this cycle! oops)

will find out tomorrow when my follow up will be, was a private cycle and i dont know if i will be able to afford another cycle. if i stay at this clinic they probably wouldnt change my protocol so i would want to change and go elsewhere

im with the clinic on the down reg thing- im hoping that is what happened to me!!

your FSH sounds fine on the natural cycle! maybe you over suppressed DR?
i dont know about LH levels as mine have never been checked

with your amh level yes this dose should be ok yet sometimes there is a red herring and you sound just like me as all points towards good response.

also weight does come into it with stimmulation drugs

the thing with a first ivf cycle is it can me hit and miss as they will learn about your body, i will be very surprised it they don't up your drugs

looks like you would have down regged for a while and maybe your like me as were just over supressed (im hoping thats what happened with me !!!!)

i got my prostrap on the 15th may and didnt start stimming till 4th june. had the suprecur when the prostrap "ran out" from the 11th june but i really felt i had ovulated from both ovaries (the left particularly more so) but no big follicles on hte right on the day 9 scan and none on the right-where i had most my pain and discomfort!!

i really hope i get answers! i am quite hefty (but i did loose 5 stone to get referred! i was 17 stone in dec 07 and have gained some weight back)

plus i was never sure if i took enough nasal spray as sometimes it didnt seem to work

Hello!

Could anybody, please, tell me what might be the symptoms for poor response? And is there a way to avoid it?

Thank you,
Olia

the only real way to know if you are responsing poorly is to have a scan and see how many follicles are present

nothing can really be done apart from increase the dose of drugs yet many try hot water bottles, drinking milk for the protein things like that

sometimes and very often is the case, less is more. quaility is what is needed in this game

good luck
