Hi Mirror

I know of 3 of us but 2 of us got bfps (one 3rd time and one first FET) and have been discharged, and the other is having a break before her next FET.

Another girl was at Pinderfields in Wakefield but had EC and ET at St James's - her little boy is a few months old now.

What stage are you at? PM me if you want xxx

Hi Mirror - sorry I just got back to you, I didn't see you'd posted until now.

They do EC on whichever day it needs doing. How did your scan go today?

Do you actually see Mrs Sharma or one of the doctors? Liz did my first EC and Elissa my second. They are both lovely and most of the nurses are wonderful too. Mrs Sharma is amazing at what she does but I think she has quite an abrupt manner (to put it nicely!). She smiled at us when she passed us last time we were there and we were both shocked :snigger:

Everything crossed for you x

Hi catherine, thanks for your reply and ongoing support:thanx:

I had my scan yesterday, i don't see mrs sharma everytime i go, but its one of the registrars normally. Elissa did my scan yesterday , she is very nice, no doubts.

My scan was quite reassuring. My womb lining had a trilaminar apperance , which doc was quite pleased with. 7 follies in one ovary and 5 in the other., so do not need to adjust the dose of menopur and buserilin.
My largest follicle was 10mm, so thats good too !!!
I was given a dose of 1 water in 4 menopur , which is slightly higher that average , but my ovaries are responding well..fingers crossed !!!!
next scan on friday- day 9 scan...let's hope for the best !!
hopefully EC will be sometime next week...can't wait !

regards and best wishes for future

Glad I logged back on - so pleased you're all go for tomorrow.

I'll be 100% honest with you - I remember thinking ooh that hurts but memory of the pain - where it was, how strong it was, how long it lasted etc - vanished as soon as I thought it, if that makes sense?! I was so relaxed about my second EC cos I knew I wouldn't remember any of it! The lorezepam is excellent - you should sleep well tonight and be a bit out of it at the hospital in the morning. I was wandering off to the toilet in my gown, slippers and hat :snigger: not caring who saw me!! Dh was with me all the way through and told me it lasted about 4 times longer than I thought it did.

You will get tea and toast after :yumyum: and a sleep probably.

Will be thinking of you - Elissa gave me my bfp and Liz did it for Joeed so they can do it for you too.

Good luck xxx

hi all
i had ET today, had 2 embies put back in
one was a 4 cell and the other one slightly better, a 5 cell. was a day 3 transfer, was hoping them to do a little better than this , but nevermind...

they were both good quality as i was told, they dont grade it here my doc said

unfortunately i had 4 more embies but none were not suitable for freezing ;(

what do u think my chances are??? im just being hopeful and think it will surely work out...

i have now been put on progesterone injections and clexane injections too...and if i get pregnant , have to continue with gestone for 3 months...worth it if i do get pregnant !!!

testing on 8 june, abt 17 days after ET..lets hope for the best..its the worst bit now , the 2WW... :tired:

lots of luv and thanks again for the ongoing support

Hi Mirror - congratulations on being pupo :D Hope you've got your feet up ready for a couple of weeks of looking after yourself and taking it easy! I know they tell you at the hospital to carry on as usual but what a good excuse to do nothing!

I've just been looking back at my diary trying to find the bit about my last EC/ET. I got 6 eggs and was a bit gutted when only 2 fertilised (the first time we had no freezable ones either). Because we only had 2, I had a day 2 transfer instead of day 3 and they were a 3 cell and 4 cell - and look at me now!! So I reckon your chances are great, will keep everything crossed for you and hope the next couple of weeks don't drive you mad :P

Leeds St James' can't decide

I'm being a bit premature but need to think about it I suppose. I have had treatment at St James' 3 times and the last was succesful however we are now about to try again for our second child. I have previously been seen by Elissa who we loved but after phoning the clinic I hear she left last week. We need to decide if we go private with Mrs Sharma and solely have her for the treatment or to go self funded and get whoever is working there at the time. I have seen Mrs Sharma before for the initial consultation and as she is the consultant I presume she will be the best however I found her very cold and a bit scary. Does anyone know what the rest of the staff are like? When I finished my last cycle there were loads of trainees around but when you are spending over £4000 I don't really want someone who has just qualified.

Hi

I have had 2 goes at St James and am going to have another there soon. At the moment there is only Liz and Joe and I have both of them and they are both lovely much nicer than scary old Mrs Sharma :snigger:

The whole unit is moving in Dec to Seacroft and they will be getting more staff so if you want the same doc all the time you will have to have Mrs Sharma cos I know they cant guarantee you will get to see any of the others every time.

I hope this helps

Thanks that it a great hep, think I might go for them then. I knew it was closing which is why we wanted to try again before it moves, I don't like change! We should get in before it closes by the sound of it, however they lost my doctors referral letter so got them to fax it again today, then it all starts again!

Hi

The whole Ivf units at St.James and the LGI are moving to a specially built unit at Seacroft hospital. They are moving in Dec this year but everyone will be getting letters and if you have anything frozen it will automatically move also.
Hope this helps.

Hi, I just saw this thread too.

I saw mostly Liz and Elissa and they are both lovely. Shame that Elissa has left - I never got to thank her properly cos i was waiting until LO arrived. I saw Joe on a couple of occasions for scans and he seems lovely too but had Liz and Elissa for EC and ET.

I agree about Mrs Sharma - scary and cold! She said hello once to us in the corridor and we thought she must have been talking to someone else :snigger:

Good luck x

Hi Everyone

The only doctor I've seen so far is Elissia. Have been scared by the idea of Dr Sharma too, seems she's a bit frosty!

I'm due to start down regging in the next couple of days and this is my first try at IVF so am pretty scared of the process.

i am having a problem with the leeds hospital as they refuse to send out the results of the sperm tests by post.

they expect us both to go in when only i need to. i have spoken to the receptionist and it is such a battle to get your point across. i have had a little cry after speaking to them.

we are waiting for a final 3rd sperm test done last week to see if i have improved. if not then we need to have ivf.

they seem to think that my wife needs another investigation (tubes) when we have been told this is not needed because we should just go straight to IVF. this problem has popped up because we have seen a different doctor last spring who has written we need to have the tubes tested. the origional doc said this wasnt needed because my sperm aren't strong enough to get to the destination in the first place.

obviously if my sperm have improved then we would go down the road of checking the tubes next. So why not a letter?

We have to travel 50miles round trip to get to leeds and it just seems such an inconvenience if all we need are results of sperm tests.

leeds have questioned whether we are suitable candidates for IVF because my wife couldnt attend an appointment and it is only me who has the fertility problems.

i wrote to them to say we are only coming in to get my latest sperm results, but no we both have to come in.

so we did and waited 1 1/4h over our appointment time (always have a 1/2h wait anyway).

They didnt have my latest results and went to get them. yes they were worse than normal, but the level of explanation about my sperm is minimal.

it is just a case of "get on to the IVF conveyor system please".

We are waiting and thinking about treatment in another country as we are just not happy with how leeds treats us.

Mrs Sharma is a terrible woman IMO.

She was awful to me after my miscarriage - which she called a chemical pregnancy. But I know some people on here who swear she knows her stuff.

Just dont expect her to be nice to you.

I chose to have my IVF in sheffield instead at Jessops ACU and the attitude there is wonderful and caring.

I though Leeds was terrible, they told me to consider donor egg collection as I am unable to produce any more eggs. Looked into other clinics and are now at Nurture in Nottingham, its abit of a drive but worth it. Had 8 eggs removed, 7 fertilised 2 made it to blasto and are in me at the moment!

I would recommend anybody to really look at the statistics before commiting to Leeds

We considered Leeds but heard very mixed reports about the consultants and did not seem to have very good stats.
I hunted around on the internet and was also recomended Jessop Wing at Sheffield, so we went there. It was our 1st IVF attemp and the staff are brilliant. We did short protocol in April and we are now counting the weeks to our little girls arrival.

I would Highly recommend Jessop Wing for a good, caring Yorkshire clinic.

Hi just seen this thread....

I'm on my 2 ww wait from my 2nd attempt at IVF at St james

My first time round I had Joe looking after me and he was fantastic always making me laugh and keeping me relaxed, This time round I had liz for everything apart from the EC which was done by ???? can't remember his name all I can describe is he was chinese, I was that sedated but he was good and quick only took 30 mins to get through 29 folicles and it wasn't too uncomfortable.

I think the staff, nurses and joe and liz and the phantom chinese man were lovely,

They move on the 27th december to seacroft.
