Hi everyone sorry not been about for a while but been busy at work. Ros that is great news that your probes are now ready. Bighope we had to wait for a year for our probes to be ready and then about two months to start treatment. I wasn't given any option for DR I was given the prostap. This last for a month so I'll need to snuff at the end of DR. The Gonal f injections, stimms, are given at the same time of day and I chose night time as that suits my work life better. They aren't as bad as I thought and am managing them myself. I'm back at the clinic for scan on Friday. At the royal everything has to fall in with the geneologist but for a while they were without one as there's had passed away, that meant that they weren't getting as many dates. Hope this answers some questions.

Christine xx

Wow Christine, I didn't realise you were on the Gonal F already, that is good news. Time flies from this point onwards. I'm glad that you've discovered the injections aren't so bad. I do my own too.

Bighope, keep asking questions, that's what we are here for! Keep trying your clinic, I find most of them aren't good with phones so it is normal to have to keep trying.

Re the stimms drugs, the side effects are bloating really, mostly in the second week of stimms. My first cycle I was very bloated but hardly any in my second cycle, so each time it's different. It's important to keep drinking lots of water at this stage.

Hi Nat, hope you're ok and your brother did ok in the marathon yesterday, it's such an achievement, you're right to be proud of him x

Hi girls, hope you are all doing well.

Just to keep you updated as I've been feeling a bit down today ;(. I rang my clinic again this morning and spoke to the nurse who is specialist in PGD. She was very nice. She assured me there was no waiting list and that we would have an appointment to see the consultant once the probes are ready, which was good news. But when I said I was hoping to start the treatment in July then, she said she wasn't sure and that she needs to check whether the specialists needed would all be available at that time. Can you pls tell me how many people are needed and who they are X( ????

Christine, hope you get enough rest before going back to work. Do you work only weekends or do you have different shifts every week?

Nat, sorry that this swine flu has broken out after you've booked your holiday to Mexico. I know you were so excited about it! Hope you've manged to change it to somewhere else. Anyway, you should be glad that it didn't happen while you were there!

Ros, thanks for telling me that most clinics aren't good with phones as I was thinking it was just ours!

Oh Natalie, I'm so sorry you have this worry about your holiday. I was supposed to be going to China when SARS was happening, the foreign office advised against all travel there so our company did let us change to New Zealand instead, at 10 days notice. I hope Thomas Cook change their minds, things may change over the next few days, fingers crossed. Let us know what happens ...

Christine, glad you're getting used to the tiredness and are coping with it ok. It's part of doing IVF and you know it won't be for long, and it is so worth it if t means our dreams come true  I wipe out my entire social diary for 6 weeks over tx, it is worth it knowing that I just have work to cope with.

Bighope, I've found that genetics people don't like to commit to dates until the know for definite. I think they are scared of treading on other department's toes (the ACU) and also I think they have to make sure that the super clever cytogenticists are available on the days you'll need them for. They need the specialists for PGD as most of the embryologists won't be able to do that bit. I'm not sure how many people they need to do it but each clinic won't have many with that skill. Fingers crossed you will be able to cycle in July.

I heard from Guy's ACU today, I am booked in for EC either Fri 12th June or Mon 15th June, depending on how fast my follies grow. It was a relief to have dates in concrete. The drugs people will be calling soon to arrange delivery and I start DR for definite on May 16th. Phew.

Hi That is great new Ros at least now you have dates and it gives you something to look forward to. Nat good that you are getting a refund and here's hoping that you get something else booked that you like. Bighope I work different shift every week although they are 12 hrs. I was working mon, tues, wed this week and next due to treatment and clinic appoints. Next week though I will need to leave work to go for scans and bloods. I'm then off for a few days for EC on the 8th and ET on 12th. As for how many people are needed I know that they need an anethetist, genetisit and at the royal they only have them on certain days. Going to have a rest for few days although have scan and bloods on Friday. Everybody relax and take it easy.

Oh I hope so Ros as I am totally shattered these last few weeks  Mind you having all this holiday planning has kept my mind of DR so it has flown in

I am sure Egypt will be great but so disappointed about Cancun because I have always wanted to go and thought I`d better get it out my system before we have a wee baby as its not really a place that people take kids. It's not the end of the world as by DH keeps telling me :bawl: We are just so lucky we weren't already out there when this happened.

I`m def away to bed now or I`ll never get up :snigger:

Nat good to see that you have booked up for Eygpt it is somewhere that I would love to go but hubby not to sure. At present holidays are the last thing on our mind. I have just made appoint with doctor for the day after ET so that they can sign me off work. My work is far to heavy to be going in during 2ww. Getting nervous now as am having day 8 scan and bloods tomorrow. Hopefully I will see something that will make the injections every night worth while. Hope you all have a great day.

:happy:Thanks Christine, glad its all booked :cheese:

We have only been to Sharm el Sheik, not been to see the pyramids as that's not really my cup of tea. If you like really warm weather then you'll like it as its roasting in the summer but I`m hoping it will be cooler at this time of year. The snorkelling is amazing  The coral and fish are gorgeous, the water is crystal clear.

I hope that tomorrow goes well. I am crossing all my fingers and toes for you. Are you getting fed up with the injections? Have you been feeling ok with them? I am in on Saturday for DR so I am a bit nervous too but also excited. You are quite right to get a Doctors line as this is too important to be stressing out over work etc. Some TLC will be required from DH

Missing you, girls :). Hope you are all well. Was having difficulty connecting to the Internet yesterday and I've been trying for hours now!

Thanks for the information Christine. Good luck with your appointment tomorrow xfingers. Can I ask what it is for? Is it to check the growth of your follies? Let's know how it goes.

Nat, glad it's been sorted with Thomas Cook and you're off to Sharm el Sheik :D. Starting your DR while you're on holiday is brilliant because that will help you stay relaxed and the time will go faster. Enjoy your holiday! :cheeers:

Ros, it's 1st of May tomorrow so that will make the counting down to your DR sounds better

Hi bighope and Nat thanks for your good wishes for tomorrow and yes it's to see how the ovaries are reacting to the injections. The injections aren't that bad. Some times they are a wee bit nippy and others I don't feel. I'll be on here tomorrow to let you know how I get on. Nat glad your DR on Sat are you having prostap or are you taking something else? Going to bed now so good night.

Hi girls it's me again with an update on todays appoint. It went well and I have 9 follicles on both ovaries and they are about 10mm in size which seemed to be ok. To continue on the same amount of stimms and return on Monday for further scan. Looks like this time next week I'll have had my EC and awaiting my ET on the tuesday. Hope you all have a great weekend.

Natalie, hope the injection went well today, you're officially on the drugs now :)
Not sure what day you fly to Egypt, but have a fabby time. I'm sure the sniffy stuff will be fine, lots of ladies have it. I inject my DR drugs every day for 4 weeks so I'm a bit different.

Hi Ladies, well my prostap injection went fine  Had a bit of a sore tummy tonight, not sure if it was anything to do with the injection or the chinese I had at lunch :innocent:

The only thing that is worrying me now is that when I am on the Stim injections that I over stimulate or under stimulate because they can't move the date for the biopsy so if this happens they may need to freeze my embryos which would obviously delay the process by months :bawl:

This is really a rollercoaster ride isn't it!!!

Hi Nat glad to hear that the injection went well. Try not to worry about stimms. I did and everything was fine. Bighope the reason the dates can't be moved at our hospital is they only have a genetist on certain date so that is when the biopsy has to be taken. That is what I worry about but so far so good. Take care all of you.

Hi everybody all went well yesterday, don't really remember anything about it. They got 8 eggs and then 6 of those were able to be injected. 3 of these have fertilized and are growing as we speak. Have to phone on mon pm and see if they have been able to take the biopsy from them. It will then be on to tuesday and then have the ET and hope that they stick. Thanks for all your support. Hope that you are getting on well. Take care.

Christine, glad everything went well yesterday and hope the 3 fertilised eggs will make it to biopsy, be healthy and of great quality!! xfingers

I don't know much about this stage so can I ask if there is still a chance that the 3 other eggs injected will fertalise?

I can imagine how stressful the next few days are going to be but remember it takes one good embryo and it's quality not quantity that matters! So keep the positive thoughts going ! Good luck!

Hi Bighope not to sure about the 3 that didn't fertilize. They never said anything about them, only that hopefully the 3 that did would get to the stage that they could take a biopsy from them on monday. I'm hoping that they will and that at least one if not two will be able to be implanted on tuesday afternoon. DH took yesterday off and is taking tuesday off aswell.

Oh wow Christine, congrats on 8 eggies and 3 embies, it's normal for some of the eggs not to be suitable for injecting and/or not fertilising. But it's great that there are 3 little ones sitting there waiting for biopsy on Monday. I have been curious about the way the days work after EC for PGD. I know it's day 3 for biopsy (that's Monday for you) but didn't realise that ET could be on day 4 (Tuesday for you), for some reason I had day 5 in my head - but that's much better - less time to sit around waiting! :)
I have everything crossed for you Christine.

Bighope, nope, I don't need to go back to the hospital before DR. I have injected lots before so they don't need to go through that with me. My drugs arrived yesterday and are sitting in the fridge waiting for next Sat! Then it's all go!

Hope you're all having good weekends, hi Natalie! x

Hi Girls thought I'd let you know that we are now down to 2 embryos. Out of the 3 fertilized eggs they could only biopsy 2. We now need to phone at lunchtime tomorrow to see if either of these 2 are of the right genetics to go back in. If they are then they are being transfered tomorrow pm. Hope I have some good news tomorrow. Finding it difficult to stay strong. Take care

Christine, I have been wondering about your embies today, two is ok hun, you only need one to work for you :)
I am so badly wanting tomorrow to be a happy day for you. I can understand it being difficult staying strong at this stage. You've done so well hun, not long to go now, have a relaxing bath (or whatever else you do to relax) this eve and try to sleep through. Good luck sweetheart, please let us know how you get on, I am praying that you are PUPO this time tomorrow x

Christine, 2 out of 3 are good odds so keep your hopes up and always think positive! (easier said than done!)

Hope all goes well with your 2 little embies  . Best of luck!

As Ros suggested, do something that would help you relax so you body is ready for ET tomorrow xfingers

Looking forward to hear your good news tomorrow xfingers

Hi to Ros and Nat. Hope you are well.

Hi Christine, been thinking about you lots, hope things are ok x
Natalie, how is the DR going? Are you on stimms now? Sorry I'm a bit behind with your progress.
Bighope, what's next for you? If it's 8 weeks since they started your probes they will be ready soon I guess?

Christine, been thinking about you too! Hope things went well on Monday. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Ros, we were told that the blood work would take around 3 months so we are still waiting. I find it so hard and stressful!!! I'm thinking of ringing my clinic next week although the last time I rang, I was told that they would contact me as soon as they have the probes ready. 4 days to start your DR. That must be exciting! .

Let me ask you this, is it true that women gain weight during IVF cycles? I don't mind really, I'm just curious to know ?(

Nat, seems that you haven't come back from Egypt yet. Hope you are having a relaxing time!

Hi Everyone Just to give you the news. Yesterday we were told that we now only had one embryo left. We went into the clinic and were then told that the one left was 7 cells and that it was graded 9/10. So I am now PUPO. It's great news but now I'm a bit deflated. Now on that dreaded 2ww. Don't know how to feel. I'm just numb at present. Hope that you are all well and looking forward to starting your treatment. Take care everybody.

So glad to hear your great news, Christine! Congrats on being on the 2ww :thumbsup2: and hope that high grade embryo will be strong enough to find its way to implant and keep growing. xfingers

All you need to do now is to try to relax as much as possible and let your body do the rest babydust

Thanks Bighope I am taking it easy. I got 2 week sickline from Dr yesterday as my work is too heavy and stressful. Just sitting on internet and keeping up to date with FZ. Hope you don't need to wait too long for the blood results.

Oh WOW Christine, this is awesome news, so so happy that you are PUPO with such a fab embie. 7 cells is great hun, I have everything crosed for you.

Bighope, yes, I have put on weight with my cycles, I think a certain amount of it is bloating from the drugs, but also it's very easy to comfort eat when on tx (don't ask me why!). There may be some more scientific reason which other people are aware of. I shall be watching myself more closely this time, I managed to lose the excess 8 lbs I put on last year after Christmas but it needs to stay off!

I reckon call your clinic next week just to 'see how they are doing' with your probes ... mine took 10 weeks to make

Hope you are all doing well girls.

It's good that you've taken 2 weeks off work Christine because your job is too stressful and all you need now is to relax and hopefully we'll hear great news from you soon : )

The problem with our probes is that they are not being done at our clinic so when I ring, they can't really tell how things are going and how longer they might take! ?( Our blood samples have been sent to Italy to have the probes done there (They didn't explain to us why they've done that but they said they can't be done here because our case is too complicated!!!!)

Have a nice weekend everyone.

Bighope x

Hi Girls sorry big hope that you are no further forward and that your clinic can't help with timings but I would have thought that they could contact the clinic in Italy and then let you know. Hope you hear soon. Roz only one more sleep you must be getting excited. Good luck
