Clomid and ov testing and bloods

Hello,

Just found out I ov'd on my first month on the bad stuff! The cons has now prescribed it for a further 5 months but has not mentioned any testing or anything, not even a cd21. I don't go back to see the cosultant until I finish the next 5 months.

Can I use opk's whilst on clomid or will I get dodgy results??

Thanks guys!

Hi Flic, I too was told I OV'd the first month of Clomid and also had another 5 months of it with no observation whatsoever. Needless to say I never got pg and am now on IVF but do wonder if they'd monitored me would it have worked??

As for the OPK's, I have heard that they don't give a 'real' result. Don't know why or have any other info on it.

Hope everything works out for you. x

Clomid can interfere with the results of OPKs and give false positives so shouldn't be relied on. Your best chance of success is to BD every other day from about day 8 - day 20 (on a 28day cycle). You don't have to BD on the day of ovulation - there is no magic day for conception.

You could ask your GP if he was willing to do the day 21 bloods for you?

Do you know what your result was for this month?

ttc since July 06. 8 cycles of clomid. BFP on cycle 5 (Dec 07) ended in m/c at 9.5 weeks. Second BFP on cycle 8 (May 08)

Hi Flic!!
Me, well i have been on CLomid 50mg for the last 8 months, and have ovulated each month, i hasten to add i have only ever had day 21 bloods, and, the last 3 months not even had those as my specialist said "no need, we can see you ovulate each month now!" i can be on clomid another 4 months, saying that this is my last month, im going to start IUI in Jan/Feb, fed up with clomid if i am honest!!

My last bloods were 51, before it was constantly 1!

I might call my GP and see.

If I'm on 50mg for another 5 months would they consider upping the dose to 100mg if I don't get pg?

I'll not waste my money on opk's then!!
