Your email has been forwarded to me by Dr Quenby. I am sure that you
can appreciate she is unable to respond to every individual patients
emails, due to workload commitments.

You should have received your results letter. A date for Thurs 16/10
has been arranged between 4.30pm and 5.30pm to discuss them.

now i know it doesn;t look shitty but if someone had bothered to tell me the results would be 5 weeks and not 4 i wouldn't of had to email them, scotwife has hers in under 4 weeks

the trouble is most cons don't realised there is a whole infertility world out there and we talk and talk alot. maybe im an being over sensitive but for £480 i do expect a little bit of personal care!

I think that's quite a dismissive and snotty response. Like you say when you're forking out that much money, you do expect an appropriate level of service and to be given the CORRECT response times! :cross:

Anyway - I'm glad you've got some answers and a new line of attack, that's the important thing. Good luck tomorrow! :xxx3:

that is what i cannot understand about people like them. we look up to them for help and pay them so much money for there services surely we deserve to have all our question and problem answers to at all time.

i remember when i went to see the director of my clinic about my failed cycle. he was so patient and even when everyone kept knocking his office door as he was due to do EC for a patient he just told them to wait and said to us we should talk and ask him as much question we like and he said if he cannot be here for us then there is no point in his job.

glad you got your result back Kara. it be nice to see what the next step is on thursday.

Hi Kar, I'm glad you're happy about your result, it must feel good to have some concrete information.
That secretary should learn to be more customer friendly, it's part of her job. I'm sure the consultant wouldn't be too happy to find out how unprofessionally she's behaving.

Hi Kara

Just wanted to add to this. I spoke to Diane at Liverpool on Monday and was thoroughly put off by her manner. She just seemed in such a rush to get me off the ‘phone, and I think our conversation lasted less than 1 ½ minutes anyway! I think Dr Q would be quite shocked if she read this thread, as she sounds like a very compassionate soul.

I rang up L’pool Womens’ a few weeks ago to ask for details of the NK trial and was told they would be posted to me the next day. A week and a half later I had heard nothing, and emailed Dr. Q directly. The documents were emailed to me straightaway and Diane told me they had been sent the week before 2nd class. Even 2nd class doesn’t take 10 days! A bit of compassion wouldn’t hurt; after all anyone taking part in the trial could end up taking the placebo and miscarrying – this is a big ask.

I’ve decided to just deal with Care in Nottingham, and may consider going privately for the biopsy at L’pool if needs be. It’s just all too emotionally draining to be battling all the time and travelling here there and everywhere!

Sorry rant over!

So pleased you have some answers now. It can be a relief to know. You’re surely much further along the road now.

Good luck for tomorrow.

KT.

Sometimes steroids are not enough to lower NK's, can't remember how it works with CD57 but will take a look now.

I have been on steroids for nearly two weeks now (10mg prednisalone - equivalent to just over 1mg of dexamethasone) and they haven't even touched NK Cells.

It will be interesting to see what she says...

I will be back with Beer's recommendation

I am not sure about the treatment for CD57, will have to check book.

I have heard prednisalone mentioned but I also think that maybe Humira could be involved too as CD57 cells encourage TH1/TH2'S (see Info on CD57) and Humira is used to treat high TH1/TH2.

Good news that you have your results and atleast you now have some kind of an answer as the word 'unexplained' is just pants and really is not helpful at all!!!! Perhaps the secretary needs to be made aware of her inappropriate behaviour, she should be sensitive in her role as it is a very delicate subject we are all dealing with. Takecare

I read up on CD56 in the uteurs and CD57 last night in Beer book and treatment will depend on your history. It seems that Humira would be an option and sometimes even LIT or IVIG.

It will be interesting to see what the cons says, will be suprised if they only offer you steroids as from what I have read you may need more than that.

i have a few question for her

i need to write this one down now

1. what precentage does steriods lower the nk cells by?

Sorry to butt in but I think if I were you I'd be interested to know at what levels they've had success in lowering the nk cells, i.e. is it just with very high levels they've been reduced?

on average they are able to lower a level of say 14% to 9% or steriods which is still high but with longer treatment this could be lowered again

my questions for tonights telephone consulatation

1. what does a level of 6.2 tell you?

2. Did you test for the 16+/- marker? am i right it think the 16+ is killing power?what does this tell you

3. What makes nk cells high?

4. Could this be the reason for recurrent implantation failure?

5.Would you prescribe anything other than steriods? humria/IVIg?

6.what presentage would the steriods lower the nk cells by?

7.would 0.75mg of dexamethsone been too little to have an impact on the nk cells

8.what is the different between dexamethsone and prednisone?

I think you have the questions covered Kar.

Unless they test your blood with steroids (like they do with IVIG) I don't think they will know for sure how they will impact on the levels.

Have you taken steroids previously? when did you take them, what did you take and for how long?

Definately get a copy of your results.

i took dexamethsone once of a fresh cycle and once for a fet

i took 0.75 a day from egg collection, which is no where near enough to lower nk cells so i gather

as far as i know Dr Quenby would prescibe 20mg of prednisone from et, im wondering to maybe ask for it from day 6 of stimms

20mg is quite high, I was on 25mg and know that was high dose.

I know Beer would say you have to start before. I started mine on day 6...I believe that you need it before otherwise it seems late to start it on egg transfer, it needs to build up.

Good set of questions, will be interesting to see if she does use any other forms of tx's such as humira of ivig. Also think it's a good idea to start the steroids earlier. Let us know how it goes.
