Clomid - 3rd Cycle

Hello All,

I am new to this forum and would like to get opinions from any of you who are experiencing the same. I am 30 and I have been married for 6 yrs now and started trying to conceive last yr. In June 2008, my first doctor visit, he asked me to take blood test for my progesterone and the results returned I did not ovulate. He put me on clomid 50mg and did not ovulate on that first dosage. 2nd cycle, he put me on 100mg and returned I DID ovulate but did not conceive. This october, I took my 3rd dosage. I am expecting my period on the 10/17. I took EPT and returned negative. Was that too early for me to test? Upto how many cycles should someone be allowed to take clomid before taking an alternative method of conception? I am in despair now... pls help...

Welcome to :FZ:

I hope you like it on here, we have very friendly and supportive members that are sure to make your TTC journey that little bit easier, I hope you feel right at home with us all soon.

Here are some links that you may find useful.

There is an abbreviations section HERE so you know what we're all going on about.

There is a getting started on fertilityzone thread HERE this contains everything you need to know about getting started on FZ and a few guidelines too.

There is a how to search section HERE so you can get the maximum benefit from the forum.

If you have any questions about anything, just ask.

You asked whether it was too early for you to test. As a forum our advice is that you should not test any earlier that 14DPO (days post ovulation). This should ensure that your result is accurate. Also those prescribing clomid seem to vary quite widely in terms of how many cycles of clomid they will prescribe before moving onto some other form of treatment. Most seem to be 6 months (providing that the woman is responding well to the dose), others less, others longer. My clinic, for example, will prescribe 11 cycles of clomid.

I hope this helps.

Good luck and I hope you get your BFP soon.

x

hi sweetie i am also on my third lot of clomid but only at 50 mg. a hpt will work 14 days past ovulation. so if your not due on until 17th then to be on the safe side that is the day that a test will work. if its an ultra early one then maybe the day before.

hi there.

thanks for the quick replies... I'm so glad with the support of all the members here.

For Bubble's reply, you mean clomid can be taken as much as 11 cycles??? I've read articles saying it cannot be taken for more than 6 cycles as it may cause cervical cancer among other diseases. Can you please enlighten me on that?

I will try to do ept again on the day of my expected period, Scazkat. I am just wondering... what could be the possible symptoms i would feel this early in case I am pregnant? Is it too early to feel anything as well? Sorry for these stupid questions.....

Thanks

I was given 12 cycles of clomid conceived on my 8th cycle but ended in MC and again on my 11th cycle but that ended in an ectopic pregnancy. I went for a review appointment with my con on the 6th month of clomid and they said since i was having no side affects and was ovulating well etc they would carry on for another 6 months.

I was on 50mg and ovulated well but I dont know if doubling the dose to 100mg counts as 2 months cycles if you know what I mean.

Wishing you well x x x
