7million sperm count - good/bad

We are now in “the system” for IVF. We have male factor :bawl:. DH’s sperm count if 7million and some doctors have told us you can still conceive with this count and some have told us that it would be impossible to conceive with that amount of sperm.

I just wondered what people’s person experiences were – has anyone conceived with a count less that 7million?

As things stand at the moment we havent had intercourse for nearly 3 weeks, we havent discussed it but i think we both have the same attitude of "what's the point"!!! ;(

Hi Angel Mouse,

I was pretty much in the same position as yourself. Nothing wrong with me but dh had a fluctuation sperm count.
My dh's last SA was six million which we used for icsi and I got my bfp last month.

I also did fall naturally but had an early loss.

I think it can happen naturally, but it may take a lot longer. It only takes 1!

Not personal experience but I do have a friend whose count was 5million and he and his wife conceive naturally. They had been trying for 6 or 7 years, 5 failed treatments and she fell naturally about a year after her final treatment. It's not impossible, just more dificult.
Other factors that need to be taken into acount are sperm motility and morphology. A man can have a low count with good quality sperm while another has a good/normal count of over 20 million but with poor motility/morphology/clumping/large numbers of inactive sperm. The guy with the high count could then be even less likely to conceive naturally than the guy with the low count...

Hi Angel mouse, my DH had only 4million/ml and I conceived twice naturally in 2 years but the first one ended in miscarriage. So there is some scope but as Katy said, it takes longer to conceive.

I was doing ovulation charting , BBT and everything till June. Then decided to give up everything and fell pregnant in July. So I think stress is one of the commonest factor that affects the fertility
