NK Cells: I wonder if it's worth having a One Stop Shop of info on this topic!??

I'm back in detective mode again!

After 2 more implantation failures in July & Aug, after my 6th m/c at 7+3 in June, I came across the NK Cell test again and decided to do some looking into that - it may have been mentioned on a forum on this site somewhere I think? (I'm on a few forum sites so it gets me a bit confused at times!!)

Anyways, some ladies, who had obviously exhausted all the tests Gynae are prepared to offer too, mentioned they had gone privately for this NK Cell test, which from my understanding seems to be a blood test that counts the level of Killer Cells within the blood and then assumes a certain level of these cells are in your uterus. If you have a high count then you can be put on a steroid called Prednisolone to lower the amount of these Killer Cells, thus suppressing your Immune System and allowing the foetus to develop without fear of being attacked and kicked out of it's new home!

Alongside these posts, another lady had mentioned that she had had her NKCell test done for free as part of a research trial, led by a Dr Quenby at the Liverpool Women's Hospital. I contacted Dr Quenby and am going to see her in a couple of weeks. She is doing research into Recurrent Miscarriage & Implantation Failure and Natural Killer Cells. She takes a biopsy of your uterus and can therefore more accurately tell the levels of these NK Cells in your uterus, and then treats you with the Prednisolone steroid.

I wonder if it would be worth compiling a seperate section on this topic, as it's probably the next stop on any investigations once you've been given the all clear from Gynae and told there's nothing more they can look into - coz obviously there is!!

See some of the news links I've come across below:

You can also read about this NKCell business in a book written by a Dr Alan E Beer, called 'Is Your Body Baby Friendly'.

Good Luck one and all!
Vanessa

Oooh!!! It's exciting eh!!! :-)

I'm on cycle day 12!!!

I've been charting for the past few months - but went and bought some pee sticks today - just to be sure!!!!

I'm paranoid I'm not gonna ovulate til day 18 or something - coz on cycle day 26 (11th Sept) I'm flying down to Cornwall for a wedding (I live in Scotland).

So i desperately want my '7days after ovulation visit' to be before the 10th Sept, otherwise I suppose I'll have to wait another cycle??

Keep in touch eh!!!
I so hope this is 'IT' - the answer to my (& yours too!!!!) problem!!!! :-)

Good luck - great to have found you!!
Vanessa
