urologist referal lead times and questions...

Hello All,

Sorry I seem to hog this board with posts! :whoops:

We have been told by clinic that we are being refered to a urologist.
There are a few things I am unsure about and would appricate some advice x

1. How long from clinic referal did it take for you to hear from urologist?
2. How far away was your appoinment? (I.e got letter app 2wks later)
3. What did first app entail?
4. Is there services covered by Nhs? ?(

RE: urologist referal lead times and questions...

Hi Holly

1. How long from clinic referal did it take for you to hear from urologist?
We arranged ours within 3 weeks (privately)

2. How far away was your appoinment? (I.e got letter app 2wks later)
As above

3. What did first app entail?
Looking and talking about test results; an examination and chat about the options of retrieval i.e. PESA. I'm sure you read my diary at the time but all the details were written on 29th April. I would imagine yours will be on a similar theme although as Spud's and my DH's cause is probably different, your appt may be more to do with Spud's test results and talking about what options you have.

4. Is there services covered by Nhs?
Honest answer is I don't know. We were never investigated beyond my DH having two zero count SAs and carrying the CF gene as these both pointed towards him having no Vas Deferens. The appt we had on 29th was totally our doing.

It's that waiting game I'm afraid Holly. If you have the contact details of the Urologist you're being referred to, I'm sure you could contact their office and find out what the current waiting times are.

Big :hugs: as always

We got an appointment with the NHS urologist within 2 weeks. Consultant booked us in and the letter was printed out at the clinic.
They talked us through things (consultant and urologist together).

I don't know the answer to your other questions as they were not an option for us... sorry :(
