Hi All,
Thanks for all your good wishes....It really helped me as I was stressing all weekend that my embies were OK.
Had ET this morning and now I have 2 safely tucked away. Roll on the joys of the 2ww!
Tat - I asked about the crinone - they said the same to me as to Pamela - that I would only need the 2 weeks and after that would produce enough myself.

Hello Aberdeeys :snigger:

How is everyone? Loubylou how are you coping? I found I had a lot of cramps my first week but I tried to stay calm as not much is going to happen your first week keep up the PMA

Jane hope AF appears for you real soon.

Masha when is your apt again? Have a memory like a seive :snigger:

Tat I hope you have resisted testing early and hope you get your BFP soon

A little tip for everyone testing soon buy a clearblue digital(not the conception indicatoe ones) just the ones that say pregnant or not pregnant as my line was very faint and was difficult to tell whereas the digital one comes up black and white

Good luck all

Hi, we had our patient info evening on monday. To be honest I didnot like it, I found that info they gave us was very basic, they didnot allow us any time for questions and when I tried to ask they didnot really answer. But the worst bit is that I met someone I know there and it was very very uncomfortable, plus I am nervous that this person may say somethining to my employers who quetly asked me not to get pregnant in the next 5 years (I am 31). So ok they canot really sack me on a basis of IVF , but they ll hate my guts simply for trying to have a family. Thinking about it I hated the idea of going I almost had a feeling that it would happend I guess I should have listen to my intuition and not go. On the other hand it is over now and it is one small step closer to our dream, so not to worry.
How you feeling Pammy, any sickness yet? Our appointment is on the 31st of march, canot wait to be honest!
Let's do it

Hows everyone today?

masha - i also had the horrible task of 'bumping into' a collegue and his wife at the info session. im sure they are in the same boat with respects to keeping things quiet. Me and the guy i work with didnt have to mention anything to each other. Please dont worry.

I also found the info session boring - i mean i think we all know how and egg meets a sperm etc etc

Loubylou - hope the 2ww is treating you well

pammy - hows you

Moggle and Looloo - hows the clomid tx coming along

hi Tat , how are you? Is your follow up appointment soon? On our pt info evening they said that they normally disscuss all bad results with a team and suppose to think of all sorts of changes to be made for next attempt. I guess what I am trying to say is try to stay positive and to have a frank disscussion with consultant about all sorts of factors which could have affected this attempt and how to increase your chances if you deside to continue.
On our patient info evening I have also asked about accupuncture, Dr hamilton was somewhat sceptical saying that there was a study showing benefits and then there wasnot. However there is a centre in Edinburgh which claimed to help lots of couple with previous unsecesfull attempts (I found it in Google just bytyping Edinburgh fertility centre). I must admit i am thinking about contacting them if I will I will let you know re my expiriences.

I hope you feeling a little bit better, we all are thinking of you.

Thank you, girls for support!

Masha, I had 3 IVF in Aberdeen and met different doctors a few times, but they never changed anything in my treatment.
1st time misscurried 9 weeks
2 time ectopic
3 FET neg
4 FET embrios didnt survive
5 IVF neg

every time the same protocol, but this time I started day 2 and had cyctes, had 2 extra weeks on drugs,aspiration............ result you know.

My advice- DONT START ON DAY 2!!!!

PS I tried Accupuncture in Aberdeen, didnt help or wasnt very good place who knows?!

I feel very empty and sad and dont know how to live now.

Tat, I'm sorry to hear you're feeling so low. It's understandable and you will get through this :cuddle. Are you planning another attempt in the future?

Where was it you went for acupuncture in Aberdeen? I tried Bodytune for a few sessions and though I found the treatment very relaxing I wasn't convinced she had much experience of fertility isues. She also kept flogging me various herbs and I started to get the feeling maybe I was being ripped off!

Sorry to hear it didn't work this time Tat - it would be interesting to see what they say and whether you decide to go for another round.

I am doing HCG drugs - Repronex and IUI this cycle - the doc is fairly happy with what he sees so far...so we wait and see - last time we tried I was hyper sensitive and had to abandon the cycle. So fingers crossed but with each month that goes by it looks more likely that I will be in your neck of the woods come July.

Good luck everone!

o, poor Tat. I noticed that clinic in Edinburgh had better success rates particulary for women under 35 (almost 44% in Edinburgh and only 24% in Aberdeen, info according to HEFA). I was seriously considering it and even compared prices :Edinburgh is about 100 0r 150 pounds more. At the end I settled with the idea of Aberdeen as i live so close to the clinic , but I do think that Aberdeen is not the best place in the country to have it done and Edinburgh clinic sounds better and better according to HEFA.

Hi Ork23, maternity hospital has "orkey/shetland accomadation " upsatirs I think (it used to be a couple of rooms, but canot promise ) next time you in the clinic ask them about it , it may make thing easier if they allow you to use one of these room for short stay etc.

Hi Dooey , How are you? Are you ok?

Dammit I just typed a whole post then lost it!

Hi Ork23, welcome to the Aberdeen lasses! I hope your next round of treatment is the one xfingers

Tat, the acupuncturist I went to was in Rosemount so not the same one. Don't think I'll be trying it again either. Hope you're doing ok hun.

Hey Pamela, how's pg treating you? Not long till scan now, I'm sure everything will be just fine :D

Masha, Jane, Dooey, Loubylou, Sarah, and all the other Aberdeen girlies - how you all doing?

My first clomid round wasn't great - the side effects weren't too bad, but my cycle was still only 22 days (ovulated CD12-13) so no improvement from my normal cycles, and obviously no BFP! I know it's too early to get too downheartened, so we'll see what this one brings. If it's no better I think they're going to up the dose next time - yay more mood swings! Still, DH is home tomorrow and it'll be time to start BDing all over again :snigger:

Take care everyone

Hi Masha

Hey,
Its brill they have rooms, but, with the joys of comin from a island as small as Orkney is that IF you want to keep things quiet, it isn't easy.. Also the people that use the shared rooms, are usualy pregnant. .

Just got word to go down in the start of April! 2nd time lucky? Hope they give us starting drugs and we can tootle up the road with them. Not looking forward to taking the drugs again as I was crazy! :cross:  :snigger: Not so good for the people in a 4 mile square radius of me! Ork x

Hi Ork, It is very difficult to keep things quiet here in Aberdeen as well, if fact I think I am giving up on privacy I will not tell anything to anyone, but I will not deny. Is not it awful that we have to hide that as dirty secret because of society, employers, etc.
There is nothing shameful about IVF and yet it feels like it is. A friend of mine was brave and open about it , the result -her employer gave her extra duties on a day or presumed FET :cross: She wishes she never opened her mouth as now she feels expoused and insulted.

Keep positive Loo loo hun, I am keeping my fingers crossed for a BFP on Wed.

I dont see why we should keep it a secret, I think others just dont know enough about it to understand what its like, I mean before we went through investigations I didnt know anything about IVF but now if anyone asks me I tell them, Im not ashamed at all.

Thats a disgrace about your friend masha

My work has been quite good about the treatment, A little funny with time off but only because we only have a few staff and just enough to cover.

Fingers crossed looLoo

and so sorry Masha that you have to go through that - for me I have no choice - I can't just get a 10 week holiday without everyone smelling a rat - so my work has put me on a 6 month contract and we will set up a new one when I get back - or I will try to do some work from Scotland. Even though it means my work isn't solid, it does mean that I don't have to hide. It must be a nighmare having to make excuses for getting to appointments...just tell them you have a rare and only slightly contageous condition....that should shut them up.

I'm OK - a bit frustrated today because we are trying the stimulating drugs this month - the last time we tried I had to abandon because I was hypersensitive and had too many follicles (14 or something) so this time my doc is being cautious and I only have 1 big one....basically I ovulate with 1 every month every month anyway - so I feel a bit like I am throwing 1000 quid or so down the toilet for no special results.....I thought the point was to get more eggs and increase my chances.

The doc pointed out that I only need one fertilised one anyway - but I am sure that I get that every month anyway....ugh.

I donot like phrases like "you need only one" either It is not really true in my opinion. Couples without fertility problem need just one as they ve got all the chances every month for ?12 months or ?24 months. Nobody offers 12 IVFs to us so why do they compare?! So I can totally understand the frustration, and can I just ask, is it Dr Hamilton who said it?
Anyway, donot listen to me much as I am very very grumpy woman :cross: :P and may be completely wrong with my attitudes, and hopefully this one expensive egg of yours will produce the most beatuful baby and you ll forget all the frustration of the process!

Aw thanks Masha - sometimes it is nice to have someone grump along with me instead of trying to be all shiney and positive, which is what most people do....sometimes I just need to grump!

Actually I haven't even quite made it to Aberdeen yet - this is my doc here in Cayman....I am trying drugs this month, natural next month, 1 more drugs and then in July I will head for sunny Scotland to start my IVF. I had all the tests, consultations at Christmas when we were over so we are ready to push the button this summer if I don't manage to get knocked up before then, but based on my track record I would place my bets on a trip to Aberdeen this summer.

We had the insemination today so fingers are crossed and 2 WW starts.

Hello Ladies

Hope you dont mind me jumping onto your thread.

I am currently attending the Clinic in Aberdeen. Had one attempt at ICSI in Jan/Feb. Sadly this ended in a BFN :(

But I am starting a chemical FET cycle on the 8th of April and was wondering if anyone else on here had done one or is doing one in Aberdeen?

Good luck to us all ladies

A x x

hi everybody,
It is 3 days till our ivf appointment, they promised spray and other meds would be given, so we should be able to start in 18 days from today. Somehow I feel that someting else will happend, they ll forget the spray or something and explaine it in a way like "well you ll have to have injections anyway so doesnot matter 20 or 40 doesnot it" X( (I ve heard this before unfortunately). On the other hand I feel exited and hopefull, of course I do, canot wait to be honest.

Pammy and Dooey how are you. We know that you both had scans, how was it? I hope everything is fine, isn't it? :shush: :shush:
