NHS funding critera?????

Hi Everyone,

We found out on Monday that Hubby has azoospermia.
Been trying for four years unsuccessfully so went for tests and this was the result.
Anyway went back to the doctors today to find out some more advice whilst awaiting referal to fertility clinic.

He told me today that there are a number of criterias for funding for icsi/ivf on the nhs and that he thought that the rule was you must be between 35-37??!!!
why there has to be a two year only window baffles me?
any how I am 32 and hubby 33.

Does anyone have any experience of this and any ideas what is needed to qualify?

he also said that they only fund one cycle ? i read somewhere that it is three?
also i read that it is under 40 but over 30? and that you must have been trying for at least 3 years?
i have no idea where i saw this as i have researched so much my mind is boggled!

Please does anyone know the facts from experience?
We fall under Buckinghamshire , just in case anyoneelse is also in this area and knos thier rules or how where i can find out?

Thanks x

The rules depend on the Primary Care Trust you fall under, the rules vary some offer one cycle some three. Some have age criteria some go by years of TTC.

Have you looked online for any info - or maybe one of the girls from here may have been treated there.
Good luck x x

Hi HollyBolly

I have just tried myself your Bucks PCT and nothing come up :-(

Normally you just type in "IVF" in the search box and lots of stuff come up...

The only way you are going to find out the criteria in your area is by phoning them.
