ISIS Colchester???

Hi,

I'm looking into clinics for my 2nd IVF attempt as I'm still not sure about the funding.

I have been extremely happy with Bourn but it is quite far for me. I did most of my TX in ipswich. I only had to go there for E/T.

Has anyone used ISIS in Colcheter and can comment on the tx there?

Maria, I have no personal experience, but have posted a reply in your diary.
I think they have an open evening on one Wednesday each month. Might be worth popping along to one of those?

Colchester ISIS

Hi Girls
I have just had my treatment at the ISIS centre in Colchester on the NHS even though we did pay to have the freezing and the Blastocyst.
All I can say is that ALL of the staff from the bottom to the top were so nice, nothing was ever to much trouble for them if ever I phoned up with a question or a worrie, and when I needed extra blood tests the staff came in an hour early to do these blood tests because I could not make normal clinic times because of work.
I was really lucky to get a BFP after my first go and all the way up untill having my confirmation scan the staff at all times were so nice and supportive.
I can only say good things about ISIS Colchester, and although I was an NHS client I was not treated any other way other than top/number one.
Good luck all you girls about to under go your treatment.

Hi Pinky,
I'm happy for you you've started!!! I'm hoping to start d/r in May. I have chosen Isis in the end cos it's closer. Can you tell me how they go about things? Like what do they do to decide the medicine and how is the staff?
Thanks

Hi Maria,
when u have your initial app with the dr they discuss your treatment plan, obviously it depends on your fertility problems, i have pcos and have one period in two yrs even clomid done nothing at all for me, i had a short treatment plan (i can tell you my exact meds and treatment plan if you like)

but basically after that you mostly see the nurses and they are all so lovely, in my personal experience once you have that first app it all moves along very quickly

hope this helps, an questions just ask xx

I have a nurse appointment first. Don't know why. I think it's just to prepre the paperwork for the doctor. I had mild OHSS last time so I was wondering if they change drugs with that. I used menopur. Are the appontment times flexible?

Had my appointment today and was very happy with it. Now I have to wait for Ipswich to post the IVF details through and then I can start D/R after another 2 appountments. One with the consultant and to scan me, and the other to do the HFEA paperwork. I'm so excited. eventhough I would have preferred to start NOW!

Isis - now Bourne Hall colchester.

Just thought I would let you know that Isis fertility centre in colchester essex, has joined forces with Bourne Hall cambridge, and Isis is now renamed Bourne Hall colchester.

So anyone closer to colchester that is referred to cambridge, after their first consult at cambridge, can now choose to go to colchester for treatment instead! Great news for those travelling gazillions of miles to get to cambridge!

Good luck with your cycles,

No it doesn't matter, you still register at Bourn and then if you request colchester instead, they send you in the right direction. Easy peasy!

Do you have the monitoring in Colchester and everything else at Bourn or do you do e/c and e/t in Colchester as well and only the consultations at Bourn?

Hi Maria

Hope you are ok. We were waiting for a while at Cambridge for an appointment for my DF and they kept being canceled becuase a doctor was sick so they asked us to go to Colchester instead they have now asked us if we want to stay at Colchester and if i do i need to inform Cambridge. I have left a message on their anwser machine today but have had nothing back ?( ?( so im glad you said about the letter maybe I need to make sure that I get one of those thanks!
We went their on Monday its not as grand as Cambridge and is just an office block on an industrial estate but it was a lot smaller and the staff seemed friendly and knew our history well which i think is the most important thing dont you? Nice not to have to tell the story again!!! Im happier there esspecially as its closer to home. Good luck :)

Hi maria and nisey, just to let u know I have now had 4 treatments at Bourne Hall colchester, had an FET last wednesday there, so in the 2ww now!

It is a small clinic but nice and personal, very friendly and they always have the time for anything. It has changed a little since becoming bourne hall, but probably for the better. They have a new doc there - a greek man who lives and breathes IVF, so you will be in good hands by the time you start your treatment. He does 2 days a week at the mo, but will be doing 5 soon. Terry the embryologist is a bit of a legend and has done it forever! I have never been to any other clinic - so its all I know but I like it!!

However - if this FET doesn't work, I think i will change clinics and move to London, but purely because 4 treatments means time to move elsewhere and try someone else out! I am sure everyone would do the same in my situation.

Best of luck with you tx, and it is a lovely clinic, everything done under one roof!!

Maria - I was just introduced to him as Stavros! Didn't know his real doctor name!! I am sure your letter is just caught up in the Easter hubbub, they were closed from friday to today - except for early egg collections. If you are worried - give them a call tomorrow when they are all back at work, it won't hurt to ask anyway.

Nisey - I am going to say don't be worried about it all, BUT... easier said than done. We all do first time round, after that at least you know what to expect. Its the not knowing that makes us all go a little cuckoo!! Where in essex are you? Do you have to travel far to get to Colchester? PM me if you ever have any questions, I would be happy to help in any way!

see you,

Hi - ok so maybe I am a bit deaf and the embryologist told me his name was diakos, and I heard stavros!! Quite possible I suppose.

Anyway lynsey, don't panic, he is doing two days a week at present in colchester, but in the future will be doing 5 days a week there. I think it will take quite a while for this to take place, so i am sure your next treatments will continue as planned. Sorry if I panicked you, don't worry about it.

Anyway - gotta dash,

Well I rang isis/Bourn again and they said (again) that my letter was ready to go and my consultant appointment is on the 23rd of April. So I said :what: I've already planned the tx at bourn cam. So they checked and called me back. I don't need to see the consultant again, just the nurse and sign some forms (again as the licence is a different one at isis). Finally I have a date: mon the 19th of April at 3 pm :weehee:

I'm a bit scares but excited too.
:xxx:
ps- Dr Mauro told me Dr Efstathios Diakos was going to move to Colchester 2 or 3 days a week. All the other doctors are fab at bourn so don't worry lynsey blowkiss

If you go on the bourn web site you can see Diakos on the permanent Colchester staff.
I Ilike Mauro as the first transfer she did I got pregnant and the e/c and other e/t she did were good too.! Haven't met the other one though. I think Billie didn't like him either...

No they don't - as far as I know the nearest is London. I am having them done at ARGC at the mo. I think there is another clinic who do them too. Will look into it and let you know!

There are only a handful of clinics that do the whole immunology testing, especially the chicago tests.

Thanks for your post in my diary. I thought that level 1 could be done at your GP. I will ask once I get to see some one at Bourn! My appointment is on the 24th but I might change it for a consultation instead. See what they say!

I'm still here! it's a bit lonely here in the Bourn Colchester thread!!

I'm about to start my cycle. My next a/f is due around the 20th of September. After that I need to go and collect the drugs and then xfingers I can start with my october cycle, with e/c in November (if I get to that!)

Sorry about your BFN Nisey. When are you having your next cycle?

Can someone explain to me how it works here? I am meant to start with my next a/f, due on the 15th October. I rang with the date and got told someone was going to get back to me. Nothing. I have rung 2 more times, but no joy. The nurse keeps on saying she's busy and she "hasn't done it yet". Done what? At the other Bourn they give you an appointment, you turn up, collect the drugs and schedule, then you call on day 1 they book you in for the first scan, you start jabbing in the evening. The nurse said they'll send the drugs with a courier :what:Some of the drugs I have never used before! Is she just going to post me a schedule? What's going on???? HELP!
