hi girls,

i totally agree with lel, we all have good and bad days. Sometimes i dont want to get out of bed in the morning as i feel so low, but then i think i am not the only one going through this, and eventually........... someday we will have the money to start treatment.

But hey miracles do happen.

At least we have all got each other for support.

I read that you're also north wales based and going through LWH like me. did you manage to get hold of any names or contacts that we should be hounding about funding for treatment?

update

hi all,

just been browsing the net and found out lanarkshires criteria.

The woman must be age under 38.

The couple must be in a stable relationship

Neither partner should have been sterilised.

unexplained fertility for 3 or more years/ or a diagnosis

NO children living in the home ( from either partner).

So we fit into all of these categories except the steralised bit, surely we will get away with that?.

Any view or are they really strict?

Well, recieved two letters over the weekend, one fromt the PCT and one from my MP.

The PCT letter was pretty harsh and basicaly said there is zero funding for 2008 unless I am an exceptional case, but they said I am not exceptional ;(.

The MP letter said he had also contacted the PCT and he enclosed the letter that he sent. I was quite impressed, he asked why there is no funding, especially considering we have recently had a 2 million pound cash injection and that the government recomends at least one cycle of IVF should be covered and why they are not complying to this.

I am also waiting to see if the NHS will cover my blood test so that we can move on as soon as possible.

I hope all you ladies get a better result.

sorry to disappoint Kat, but in my experience they really are that strict.
also, you might want to check out the waiting list times - because these are only the criteria for getting on the waiting list in the first place. in the lothians area there is a 3 yr wait once you get on to the list....and of course, there's always the worry that whilst you're on the waiting list the criteria get even more strict so you find yourself ineligible.

My PCT's critera is as follows:

Aged between - 36 -40

Not to have had more than 3 private cycles

Neither person to have a living child or adopted child

Neither to have been sterilised

BMI between 19.0 and 29.9

Non smokers

We fit all - except for age. We are being put forward as an exceptional case as infertility is due to cancer, we are not hopeful though

it is sooooo stupid that they are making a healthy 31 year old wait 5 years until her eggs are worse in order for her to get funding! grrrrrrr

Sunshine, your so right, what a crock! It seems ridiculous that I would have to wait a futher 5 years! I can't belive the age range differs so much in different PCT's. I will so be taking this further if we are not successful just as a matter of principle!

Hi gals

This is what I meant in an earlier post about the age thing. some docs know years in advance that ivf is going to be the only option and as you say Sunshine, your eggs are getting older and more wrinkly by the year, and your chances take a serious nose dive.

Charmers - Glad you got a reply off your Mp. I always contact mine through that web site other wise he don't reply. If you contact him again do it through the writetothem.com website and not direct to him. You should have had an e-mail off them asking if your Mp replied.

1xbaby pls - I am glad your babies are better looking than you if thats you doing that dance. :D
