BOUNCING BACK !!!!

Thought I would start a new thread as I am actually trying to buck myself up and start looking forwards.
Onwards and Upwards for the "never give up girls" !!!
You all know who you are. :]

Well I phoned the clinic yesterday....nurse not available.
Phoned clinic today...nurse available...good step forwards.....I tell her my wishes for the next cycle....need to speak with specialist...she is off sick....step backward.....maybe the Dr.....off on vacation all week!!!
[zx132]
Dont worry I am laughing, as what else can you do!!! [zx081]

Will update again when I have made some progress.
But hopefully round 3 will start...eventually :D

Good luck to everyone

Moomin,

Bog off nosey knickers!! Just kidding xxx

I am going to request they downreg me this time and increase my doseage so we get at least 2 follies up to the right size. Then we have control over my ovulation anyway.

Just got to convince them now....

I love your threads - you are a funny monkey!

Good for you about questionning the treatment. I've never been quite sure why some clinics don't down-reg with IUI. It's all I've ever known, so it was odd to me to talk to others who just have injections on a normal cycle. It will be interesting to get their take on matters.

is this an NHS or a private cycle?

Private cycle (unfortunately), my ever shrinking bank balance is getting lower than a snakes shadow!!! 8o
Making DH work lots more nights......bless him!! And I am increasing my dog walking/sitting business again.

Lisa am I right in thinking you downreg on about day 21???
Hopefully I can do that this month and get straight on with it next month. Dont see why not do you?

Thanks for the kind words Jen...I just have never been good at giving up on things.

Yes, it is Day 21. You will take a Pill for 7 days (possibly) from day 19 of a cycle (this is to ensure you get a period at the end of that month)

If they do change to a controlled cycle, it will increase the cost a bit :(

Min - no problem. The whole procedure cost us £1300. Broken down roughly I think is...
£460 for all the drugs (injections, trigger, sniffers (downreg) Pill, cyclogest
£100+ consultation
£50 HFEA fee
£400-500 actual insem
£200 for the blood/scans (I think they were £50 each and I had 4)

It may well be lower than that Min. That's not certain by any means

When you talk to them, you can ask them for a breakdown of costs - by each drug - the sniffer, the trigger, the pill (if needed) and the support ( cyclogest pessaries?). Then the actual drug you are going to inject.

Then, find out if the cost for the insem auto includes ALL scans and bloods you are likely to have. Some clinics will say they have a "package" that will say, include 4xbloods in the Insem price. But scans will be extra.

It can be very very confusing. But if you ask for a breakdown, they should obllige

the trouble I had with mine, is that the drug I used for the IUI private was a differnet one than I'd had for my Ovulation Inductions. SO it took a couple more bloods/scans and ampules than I would have needed had it been the same drug as we knew how I reacted to it.

Kara,

Yes I have thought about it. I have phoned another clinic but then I have to have all the consultations etc all over again!!! More money!!!
But it still is an option if I dont get what I want this time.

I also went to see my GP yesterday about the NHS list for Hampshire. It seems that the 'powers that be' are still bickering over who is going to do it....and what the criteria will be. So that is a long way off yet.

Oh the wheels turn so slowly with this lark dont they???

Clinic phoned me......yes phoned ME!!! 8o
Looks like my nurse is happy to go with my requests and is taking it to the consultant. I might well be their first guinea pig doing the cycle this way!!! You never know I might start a trend down here!!! I told them I want to throw everything at it this time...might be our last go.

Will know more...and when next week. Will keep you all posted.
Hoping to downreg from day 21...which will be 9th March. Hopefully the fertility wheels can turn fast enough to catch that date in time.

Hope all is well with you all

Jenny,

This time I want to downreg (like for IVF) so that I cannot ovulate until the HCG injection. This way we have more time to fiddle with the menopur doseage to give me 2-3 eggs instead of one. Plus I am going to pay for 2 insems this time on the 1 cycle. If that doesnt work then I think unless the NHS offer us a go then thats it for us.

Hi Min

great news hun!

And to have 2x insem's - thats great. It's done a lot in the States but not so much here unfortunately, we should at least be given the choice I think,

But, good for you asking and pushing for what you want! They obviously know not to mess with Minnie ;)

9th March isn't that far away... but it's plenty of time for them to get the process underway.

Tons and tons of luck Min
