Waiting for a match!

Hi All

Another milestone has been reached in the long, long process of DIUI. We had to have implications counselling due to using a donor, this has now been done, As has the meeting with the treatment nurse who showed me what and how to inject myself - eeekkk!

All we have to do now is sit and wait for donor to be matched! We had to list both mine and DH's characteristics in importance order. Here's hoping there's a Tall, brown haired, blue eyed donor! If not green eyes and short like me. Hair colour most important as both brown! Fingers crossed we will hear soon

Thanks ladies! I'm holding on and hoping we hear soon!

Milner - 2 months does sound good, I hope we can be that lucky!

I really just wanna get on with it now but as they say patience is a virtue and besides it gives me a few more months to save the cash!

Good luck to you all, especially for tomorrow Nicky!

ah honey hope you get a match soon- we had allsorts in the end- first donor was very very tall (like me and my family) but he reached his quota, then it was a blonde guy (like dh) and in the end we even had insem with a ginger bloke although the clinic checked with us a couple of times first lol- it didn't worry me I often dye my hair red!
Hope you get a match soon. It upsets me so much about the shortages, the last thing you want to do is wait now!

Indiechick

What was the counselling session like? We have to book one soon - in fact I think I might get it into the diary soon especially with the potential delays in finding a donor. If my lap goes well then I am hoping to start tx around April time so I don't think this would be too soon.

Donor counselling session is on 12 Feb (assuming the op goes OK and also that I am sufficiently recovered to Have already been told that they do not have a huge number of donors so we may need to compromise on our requirements but neither DP nor I see this as a major problem...just getting to that stage would be a major achievement which seems a lifetime away right now. :O

Hi Ladies

Thanks for all the responses. What a pickle I'm in - we were all set to start my first cycle and then the consultant rang and asked us to hold off as he had made an application for funding and advised us to wait for a result on that before we continued. Obviously funding would be great and I glad he has applied but the possibility is that we could lose the donor we chose. I realise I do have other choices as eventully we had another 2 donors to choose from totaling 6 which is amazing, just feeling a bit gutted that my journey is being delayed again!

Cookiesal - counselling wasn't counselling in the way I thought it would be, they just ran through the implications and checked we had a good understanding of what we were doing - fingers crossed all goes well for your op! Let me know how you get on!

This infertility lark is all one big waiting game, but your right my time will come, I just need to hold on till then!

My cons said he applied begining of Dec, but Crimbo will have held it up. I know they had a panel meeting last week but don't know if my case was brought up at that one, if not it should be in a months time. I'll keep you posted!

Yay, we got donor matched today. happydance Finally something positive that makes us feel as if we are getting somewhere. I am so chuffed, the clinic didn't have a huge number of available donors and it came down to a choice of 2, both of whom were CMV compatible with me and it was an easy decision as one has the same eye colour as DP. (plus our lovely nurse said he is handsome).

Just got to wait for my AFs to come back now once the Prostap is out of my system. Bring it on!
