London Womens Clinic, Swansea

I just got told that for my e/c and e/t is going to be in London,I live in Wales humph

All my other treatments have been in Swansea but they have given the NHS a contract, hence we have to go to London!

I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with them.I have been told that they will give me a list of hotels, but I would prefere to travel down and back the same day.Does anyone know if ,for any reason, I would have to stay overnight? mmmmmm

Any advice is welcome, its great to get other opinions. blowkiss

Its in the welsh blood I guess high5.

Unfortunatly yes it would be London for you too! But the swansea clinic has a good sucsess rate, only two of my attempts were there, the 1st I wasn't well and they second with FET 20% chance they said, and I got pregnant(ectopic)but a healthy growing ectopic!!

So I think you should get lucky!!And No London for you thumbup happydance blowkiss

How come this has happened??? do you know why? so are LWC in Swansea now only going to do NHS patients???

sorry for all the questions - i'm just trying to prepare myself for the ??? next time!

Im from Cardiff.

lmao Im also English but have lived here so long my hubby calls me 'adopted Welsh' :]

The swansea clinic gave the nhs the contract for treatment which means that they only do nhs and there is such a need for it that there is no room for private treatment.NHS ONLY
I'm afraid :(

You can still go for initial cons and scans ect but e/t & e/c in London. No alternative. The things we do eh? :)

Hi Ravan and welcome! I can't believe you are having to travel so far for your EC and ET. what a nightmare. As you have been through it all before I guess you pretty much know the score on how you will be feeling afterward. I guess it's a personal choice whether you decide to stay overnight or travel back the same day. I would be tempted to make a trip of it and stay in a hotel for the duration so that I could relax a bit and rest up. I don't think there would be any reason why you couldn't travel back the same day if you wanted though.

Don't worry about posting on here rather than Icsi/IVF. I am sure some lovely moderator will come along soon and move the post for you.

Hope you find the site useful anyhoo. I certainly have!

RE: London Womens Clinic, Swansea

Hi Kambec
Yep, as a Llanelli dweller, there aren't too many other options!
So far so good with the LWC at Singleton. It was only my second visit there today, where I received my first Suprefact injection as part of my one any only stab at IVF. How far along are you? At this stage I'm feeling great - easy to say when you're one day in, I guess - and pretty confident, but from reading a ton of posts I gather it's a rollercoaster!
LWC seems fine so far, Dr M went totally in-depth as to our treatment options so I feel like we've been well-informed and they seem on top of things there, but I don't know anything else! I'd love to get in touch with fellow Welsh birds in the same clinic/boat!

Hi claire

Nice to hear from someone else at LWC cardiff - i was beginning to think i was the only one!

Have you decided what treatment you are having yet? i am starting my next IVF attempt on wed (really excited). Got an appointment on tues at cardiff to pick up all my drugs etc. I have all my scans etc there with egg collection/transfer at swansea. Which consultant did you see? Dr T did all my treatment last time (she is lovely), but i have heard that Mr M is good too.

Keep in touch and let me know how you get on

Hi Moocat and Claire

I'm having IVF in LWC Swansea - hopefully starting tomorrow (so long as the chemist gets my drugs back in time!)

I've got a scan booked for tomorrow. I'm under Mr M, he's lovely, i haven't met Dr T yet

Hope everything going ok for you both

help please on fertility clinics

Hello there again,

Im starting the journey of fertility treatment, but already confused with it all...

Ive got endometriosis, been ttc for a year, and have finally been referred to a NHS specialist, with a 4 month waiting list. To avoid the waiting list Ive gone privately and booked my appoint for monday. Its still in the private wing of my NHS local hospital in gynaecology dept. Im paying £120.

Ive had trans v scan, Hubbie has had a sperm analysis all ok.

Does anyone know the answer to this....when I have treatment (which im guessing I will need blood tests and a hycosy next) will I get referred again to an IVF/fertility clinic where there will be another waiting list and ill have to pay privately again? In which case is it worth just going straight to an IVF clinic/fertility clinic ie LWC cardiff/swansea and paying their consultation fee instead of both? Many thanks for your help

Got my first IVF appt tomorrow with Dr M. Really nervous. Of course this would be my fertile weekend and hubbie has to give a sample tomorrow so no nookie for us this weekend.....typical lol. Fingers crossed.

Well had the appt and Dr M is lovely. I was a bit apprehensive 'cause I'd heard he could be a bit clinical but he couldn't have been nicer. Although perhaps when he had the ultrasound wand up my bits wasn't the best time to tell him he needed to work on his Scottish accent..... O.o The nurse counldn't find my uterus and so I had to have a second scan which showed all was there.........they wanted to know what I'd done with it so I said I'd left it at home 'cause no one had said we'd need it on that day! Got some funny looks.
They've done an AMH test to see what my ovarian reserve is like and we go back on the 25th June to find out what's what. Fingers crossed. In the meantime Singleton have sent us a letter out saying to get in touch about starting IUI.

HI Scared, Sorry to hear your last cycle didn't work. I haven't started the treatment there yet but have an appt on the 25th to get the result of the AMH test Dr M did. How come such a long time between cycles? Do you have a date for when this cycle is starting?

I'm in limbo a bit at the mo. 'cause I got a BFP naturally but am spotting. Constand pink mucous...........so not holding out much hope. the girls at work were laughing at me 'cause I'm carrying around sanitary towels in my pocket jic the worst happens. Luckily the LWC nurse said that they wouldn't bump me from the nhs list 'cause of my history of m/cs. So if this one does go pear shaped then I should hopefully get my IVF appt anyway.

I would just like them to start figuring how why I continually miscarry.
