4 fertilised eggs is this enough?

Hi everyone,

I had my egg collection yesterday and the cons removed 9 eggs which I thought was pretty good.
Today when I called to arrange the transfer only 4 were fertilised & have got to make it through the night for transfer tomorrow.

As this is my first cycle, I'm not sure if 4 eggs is enough and am worried they will all die or fragment through the night!

Can anyone tell me if this is enough eggs so I can stop worrying before tomorrow.

I'm wishing everyone success in their current cycle, :goodluck:

Thanks

4's plenty. I only had 4 fertilise and they did me proud!

One's enough! More is a bonus. 4 is just fine!

Good luck

Hi Beanie

Nobody can guarantee anything, so while it looks pretty good to have four there, you won't know till the morning. But, worrying won't make things any better, so try not to. :( :) I know from my cycles that the wait overnight and then calling the clinic in the morning to know about transfer is the very worst of all the waits you have to endure in IVF. So, I know your pain and your worry, and I hope you have some good news tomorrow. Once they're back inside you, you can relax just a bit, until the reality of the 2ww kicks in!

Take care, and try to sleep well tonight! 8)

Hi I only 2 fertilise in my first cycle and did get a positive (unfortunately had an early miscarraige but this is nothing to do with how many eggs).

Best of luck x

Hi,

Thanks all for your advice. I'm feeling loads better now it was just a bit of a shock to go from 9 to 4. However as long as there is enough to go back in that's all that really matters.
I'm also happy to see so many success stories! It's nice to hear some success when there is a lot of failed cycles on this board ;(
I will let you all know how I get on tomorrow as I am scheduled to go in at 10am (i haven't been told to call first hope this is a good omen!).
Roll on 2ww (i'm going to go mental!)

:thanx: again,

RE: 4 fertilised eggs is this enough?

Hi Beanie and hi everyone!
I'm new to this site, i only just took the courage to participate with you all girls!
I just want to say good luck to you and I know how worried you are as I feel exactly the same. We are having our 1st ICSI, had a scan yesterday to check the follies. Was suuposed to have e/c Monday but they said need to grow a bit more (5 follies, 4 = 15mm and 1 = 10mm). I'm having short protocle that's why I'm not having many follies! Bu I'm so worried this will not be enough!

Good luck for e/t today! I can't give you much advice as this is my 1st tx but the girls are so supportive!

I just want to say thank you girls, I've been reading the posts for the last week and you are all amazing!

Thank you all!

Hi Goodie

Welcome to FZ and I'm glad you've decided to start posting. :D It's much more fun than just reading! There is so much support here whatever stage of treatment you're going through.

Don't worry that your follies are a bit smaller than you thought, but to have four all at 15mm sounds good as they should all mature at around the same speed and look good on Monday.

Hi Beanie

Just noticed your appointment is 10am - that's now!! Hope all goes well - don't be nervous, and then have a nice relaxing weekend. 8)

I used to think I was alone but I have made friends with people on here that are going through the same experience as me, your follies do seem to be getting on good. goodluck through your ivf x

Hi Goodie! How are you getting on with your cycle?
On my first couple of scans i had 4 follicles at about 14mm and then they suddenly grew really fast (aswell as a couple of the tiny ones!!) so try not to worry too much (I know this can be impossible!).
Let me know how you get on tomorrow, I'll keep my fingers crossed that everything is ok.

Hi again everyone!

Well done Beanie!!! So happy for you! Try to relax now and keep in good spirits!
Visualise all the positive things hapening inside you and keep your tommy warm (Zeta's book).

Had my scan yesterday, 4 follies between 16 and 26mm and another small one! Trying not to worry too much, have my e/c tomorrow at 11;30!
Every step of the tx is worrying, now I just hope I have good quality eggs tomorrow as I don't have many follies!

So glad to be able to communicate with you girls, it's nice to have people going through the same experience. Thankyou all!

Hi Goodie,

I'm sure you will do fine tomorrow - it's quality that counts more. I had 9 eggs at egg retrieval and only 4 were mature enough to use, but they were in great shape & I think that's more important.
Let me know how you get on & try to keep as relaxed as possible - this process is stressful enough!

I'll be thinking about you tomorrow, though I am back to work yuck!

Hi girls,
Thank you for the advice much appreciated!
Had e/c this morning and went well, 5 eggs! My cons said she'll be happy with 4 at the start of the tx so quite happy.
Im just relaxing now and try not to worry about "the call" tomorrow morning. Will probably go to work after the call to take mt mind of things till e/t Friday! It's so weird we've been waiting for this tx for ages, we should have started in Jan but problem after problem with FSH level....and now it's going so fast...probably till the 2ww!!!

Thanks everybody and hope you all doing ok and all keep in good spirits!!!!

Hope you're all ok!
Had my e/t, only 2 embies made it (out of the 4), but quite happy I made it that far so I'm not complaining!
1 is 6 cell and the other one 3 cell. They said the 3 cell wasn't very good but can help the other one (don't really know what they mean!)!

Just want to say thank you again to all of you!!!

How is it going Beanie, I don't know how I will manage during the 2ww. Will defo go back to work next week or will go mental!

Goodie that is really ace news, glad it went well. Have no idea what help the other one means??? Make sure you take it easy now for a bit.
I read somewhere that drinking lots of milk make your lining sticky for the embies to implant don't know if it's true but have been trying it to make me feel like I'm still doing something!
I'm glad to be back at work at time passes quicker but every twinge makes me panic & worry they will just fall out!!!

Let me know how you 2ww goes (hopefully quick with a happy ending!) and if you need to let off some steam you know where to find me!

Hi Goodie,

My ET was on Sat & I went back to work on Tues - but my job isn't very stressful and I only work 25 hours a week!!
Do whatever you feel is right for you, otherwise you'll beat yourself up for it.

I would have gone mad(der!) if I had stayed home for the 2ww but I am tired a lot because of work so could've probably done with an extra day or 2.

I can't sleep properly now coz nearly a week in & am desperate to know, does anyone know if it's normal not to have any real symptoms? I'm sure it is just stressing!

Good luck all xxxxx

Hi there Goodie & Beanie
I say get your feet up as much as possible for as long as possible, lasses! the less stress and jumping about the better. Get in loads of DVD's, magazines, books... anything to keep your mind occupied. A little trip to the shops may be in order, but keep it short and sweet with a little bit of a spending splurge to boost morale! Seriously, the less you do the better.
Fab news Goodie - try and keep positive and look after those little embies. Keep drinking the milk and water and look after yourselves.

Thank you Zig.
DH doesn't let me do anything, even at night if I move around he gets worried. He didn't sleep the 1st night after e/t, he said I kept turning on my stomach and he was worried something will hapen to the embies!
This morning I woke up first (can't get too much sleep) went to the bathroom and he called me back "why are you moving so fast?"
We often forget how stressfull it can be on DHs.
I try to take it easy and have positive thoughts (it's hard though!)

Beanie, hope you're keeping good!
