It is very much a case of trial and error, when I had my tx abandoned it took me a while to get back to normal with my cycle ....everyone is different I seemed to over down reg?! Straight away they decided to change the protocol and not down regging has been nice.

It's a blow when you don't respond, it's a part of the tx you don't contemplate ....... good luck for next time.

Well good news - I am responding well to the puregon and menopur - had another scan this morning and now have 10 follicles growing - largest is 17mm smallest is 11 mm so I need to be on drugs few more days and all going well be ec on Thursday next week. So it just shows you that when they find the right mix it can work - when I was on puregon I did not respond at all but combined with menopur works. Good luck to you all x

Hi girls
Good news I have 4 follicles measuring 17mm and 6 others that are catching up - had last scan today - I have last of menopur and puregon tonight (Hurray) then couple more injections tomorrow then ec at 9.30am on Thursday - excited and nervous! Apparently one of my ovaries is behind the uterus so bit fiddly to get too - trust me not to be normal! So fingers crossed it all goes okay - looking forward to no more injections on Wednesday my tummy looks like a pin cushion!
Can't wait to hear how things are progressing your end xx

Hi Claire, Kags, Jo and all of the other ladies on here

I have a question please....when your cycle was cancelled were you told to go away and wait for AF naturally or did the clinic give you something to bring on AF? I have been told by my clinic that my AF will arrive within 2 weeks of stopping the drugs, is this correct?

I am worrying that it wont happen naturally as I dont have AF's on my own ?(

also, once AF arrives how soon before I can start stimms again? getting impatient already :snigger:

Thank you xxx

ps. so pleased for you Claire, sounds like everything is going really well, great news

Hi Sunflower

Yes I was told the same and my AF did arrive around about day 15 or so. I had to wait a month then (as it was christmas) until I started the treatment again. It was the best decision as now I am getting results with the mix of puregon and menopur - so don't worry - I was very disappointed at the time - but you will be up and running before you know it x

I have got to have bloods taken during the first 5 days of my period, do you know what these are for? I assume hormone levels but not sure if they will start me stimming straight away or if they need my body to have a break for a while?

sorry for all of the questions - Im a bit confused by it all ?(

thanks x

Yes it is probably for your hormone levels I would think - I didn't have these but it sounds like your clinic are being thorough and you are in good hands x They did suggest I leave it a month for my body to get back to normal so that may be the same for you x

Claire H Fab news about the EC......you go girl.

Sunflower my period came about 2 weeks late. I did not worry at all about it to be honest. In fairness the less I see of the witch the better in my book.....just chill.
I would imagine you will not start another cycle straight away, your body will need a break from the drugs. I was recommended a 3 month break but maybe some clinics just go for it.

Good luck girlies

3 embies :thumbsup2: thats fab hun, so excited for you

I have been having spotting for a few days and started full flow AF today ao I am at the clinic for blood test tomorrow, I believe they will be checking FSH ?( Ive read that is should be low, anything above 9 is classed as poor and it is likely that my ovaries will be harder to stimulate. Have you had bloods done this cycle, what was your FSH?

Take care of yourself and those lovely embies  xx

Hi Sunflower

Yes you are right about the FSH levels few tests mine were around 7-8 but then started treatment and didn't respond to puregon they said FSH was 14!! I was really shocked anyway they abandoned the treatment and I started 2 months later and FSH was 10.4 however with different drugs I still have managed to get 9 eggs and 6 fertilised so don't worry xxxxxxxxx If an oldie like me can do it so can you xxxx

Poor Response to stimms

Hi

I had my first follie scan today and it looks like I am not responding well to my drugs. gonal f 225ml dose. Think I had 2 follies at 8mm on one side and lots of little ones.I was a bit upset and didn't note down the appropriate info!

Have been told to call tonight at 5 to get the results of the bloods to see if they will up my dose. I am really scared that the cycle will be abandoned!!! :bawl: My gut tells me to be positive and give things time as I have only had 6 doses!! My head tells me otherwise.

Has anyone gone through something similar on this roller coaster ride.

hi ya

im sorry i havent been through this , but i remember on my last cycle they said that on the first follie scan and bloods if things werent progressing as much as they would like, they up the dose

Also my first bloods and scan are day 8 of stimms so i would try not to worry to much cause its early days and also if anything they can up the dose if they feel they need to .

try not worry to much hun i know its hard as this whole thing is a rollercoaster of emotions.

well this is exactly what happend to me last Aug and my cycle was cancelled. it is very hard to except and hopefully you won't need to do it but this is soooo not end. what I understand that 1st IVF is such trial for doc to understand your reaction, your dosage and etc... I was offered completely different drug (well mixture) for second time (pergoveris - is new and apparently very good drug for poor responders) but got my pg naturally (miracle one, considering all)... wishing you all the best and hopefully things will improve but as I said and thanks to FZ I understood later this is so not end... and it doesn't mean at all you can't produce eggs... hugs and all the best

Hey Andrea,

Sorry to hear the your stims have got off to an stressful start but try not to worry, your first scan is very early on in the game and your follies will easily get growing for you as stims progress!
How did you get on with your bloods? have they upped your dosage?

Hi Andrea

Really pleased to hear that you are feeling better. I had my day 9 scan today and wasn't great news - a few small follies on either side. Had to have another blood test to try and find out what was going on. Have spent all day in a daze worried they were going to suggest abandoning cycle but they phoned and told me to up the dose of Gonal F. Trying to stay positive for scan on Friday but can't help thinking the worst. IVF is such a rollercoaster!!

Good luck for your scan tomorrow  xxxxxxx

i was meant to be on short protocol but that was abandoned at baseline as my lining was too thick so i down regged for long protocol

now they are thinking short protocol with change of drugs maybe gonal f instead of menopur but this will depend on how i shed my lining so they might scan me on a natural cycle to see what is normal for me

im gutted , ive been waiting for ages

Sorry to hear this. I only had 2 good follies at the same stage but carried on with stimms for a few more days... Was on the same dose of menopur for first 3 then 450 of fostimon. How come they didn't let you do the same?
You must be so disappointed. Big hugs xxx

Kara, I am so so sorry to read this my darling.
If it helps in any way at all let me just say that with my 2nd and 3rd cycke I had less and less. As you know I only had 4 fertilise with the 3rd cycle.

You know, it could be that your ovaries have simply not responded as well because your body requires a higher dosage, or that the protocol was not the right one.It could even be due to stress as you have had to cope with so much. It is such a game of roulette and heartbreaking.

I will do some research for you my sweet.

A huge massive hug of support.
xxxxx

i didn;t want to carry on as the small follicles were tiny and to get those to the right size would mean losing the big ones that were ready to be triggered

i know that some people would be very happy with a couple of follicles but for me it is an awful response and give that i have done 3 fresh and 3 frozen cycles i need some embryos to chose from and would also like blastocyst and this will give us and my clinic alot of information
TTC 12 years

2 early losses

lots of ops and tx

both tubes removed

5th fresh short protocol
