Problems at L&D Hospital

Really disappointed and upset about the way Luton and Dunstable Hospital has handled my case. After our meeting in June end 2009 Dr. Akbar had recommended and referred us to Bourne Hall clinic for IVF. Not hearing anything till August when I started chasing it up and 4 weeks of daily phone calls I am told that I have to get a blood test done again as otherwise bourne hall wont accept my application.
Part of me wants to go Private but part of me if angry on the incompetent staff at the hospital and a doctor who is mostly with the fairies.
Please advise if I should start on my consultations at Bourne hall as private and once the referral comes can I move as a NHS patient.
ANy advise and help would be welcome.

Welcome to :FZ:

I hope you like it on here, we have very friendly and supportive members that are sure to make your TTC journey that little bit easier, I hope you feel right at home with us all soon.

I'm sorry that you feel you've had such a disappointing start to your IVF journey. You must be feeling rather down. I'm sorry I can't answer your question regarding NHS/private treatment and switching between the two, but hopefully someone will be along shortly who can. Alternatively, you could phone your PCT and ask?

Here are some links that you may find useful.

There is an abbreviations section HERE so you know what we're all going on about.

There is a ** GETTING STARTED - FZ FACTS, TIPS & HELP ** thread HERE this contains everything you need to know about getting started on FZ and a few guidelines too.

There is a ** NEW TO THE SITE? A BIT LOST? POST FOR HELP HERE!!! ** thread HERE where you can post any questions you have about how to use the site, a team member will answer you as soon as possible!

There is a how to search thread HERE so you can get the maximum benefit from the forum.

There is an IVF/ICSI section HERE with a FAQ section HERE where you will find a great introduction to IVF/ICSI.

And finally!! Have you seen that lots of our members have fancy names in their signatures? If you’re interested in having something similar it’s really easy to do. Have a look HERE to choose a style. If there isn't one you like there, let us know the kind of thing you'd like and we'll try and create one for you.

Because the running of the site completely depends on the kindness of our members, we ask for a small donation in return for a sparkly name, which is explained HERE. Hang around a bit and get to know us before you decide if you'd like to support us!

If you have any questions about anything, just ask.

Wishing you all the luck in the world with your TTC journey, I hope you get your BFP soon!!

blowkiss

Hi muniya

When waiting for an NHS referal it can take a long time, I waited over 6 months for mine as your local PCT has to agree to funding first, so don't be disheartened by the fact you have to wait, I'm afraid its all red tape.

If you decide to go down the private route you may find that you will not be eligable for NHS funding anymore so I would check this before you make an appointment as a private patient.

Good luck with your TTC.
