Hi kittenlove

I expect it's just your lining coming away but if you are still worried and in a lot of pain I'd suggest giving your clinic a call.

Oh Sunflower.....thinking of you hun! Sorry you had visit from AF!

I am laying on sofa with hot water bottle. I am confused still though as I have no blood yet. It's just a blackish discharge when I wipe?? I have awful pains though. Surely I should have AF by now?

Kitten

Please call your clinic or GP and get checked out, I don't want to scare you but I had this with my ectopic. It probably isn't but you need to get your hormones levels checked.

I am sure its fine but please speak with someone, do you have any pains in your shoulder ?? PM me if you have any questions.

Kitten, I've highlighted your thread in our staff room to ask one of the team to reply. I'm afraid I'm not an expert in this situation but I would echo Kim's advice to speak to your clinic asap, even if just to put your mind at rest.

pain and heavy bleeding is normal after a bfn and if your test was negative the chances of ectopic are low but it could be an idea to get checked

very often it take a while for the progestone level to drop and this can stop a full bleed.

i always have strange af's after a fail and always clots and very heavy bleeding due to the increase womb lining

Hi Kitten

Sorry to hear about your pain and of course your BFN hon :cuddle

Like Sunflower said, I too had/have black stuff....it's not nice

I was 14dpo when my tummy was properly cramped. When I'd passed a few dark clots too the pain did ease

BFN bleeds are horrid and mine are quite unlike a normal AF (black/stringy/bitty).

Sorry you're having to go through this honey :hugs: Ringing your clinic will hopefully ease your mind hon.

Kara is right that the chances of an ectopic are low but as Duffy said please get checked for peace of mind if nothing else.

Thanks Ros......I work in a hospital so when I go to work maybe I will get a blood test although I really doubt it could be ectopic as I had a BFN and a ectopic is meant to double you over with pain I think?? I have a lot of pain but its just on on side...x

Hi Kittenlove,
Please keep a close eye on this and go straight to your doctor if the pain gets worse.
Be on the lookout for any other symptoms (loss of appetite, fever, feeling very tired, shakey).
Hopefully the black stuff is just lining coming away (old blood is black) and this pain on the right could be follicle/cyst refilling. But just in case it is something like an ectopic, you must be very careful. Please keep us posted.
Hope you feel much better very soon,

getting a bfn on offical test date doesn't rule out ectopic so be aware of this and also a high temp could mean an infection

When you have an Ectopic sometimes your levels rise MUCH slower than with a pregnancy in the womb. I have had 3 Ectopics and only had pain with the first one.

My signs were the black/brown discharge and shoulder tip pain. My last 2 Ectopics I had no pain at all, slightly swollen tummy but I just knew something wasn't right, this is why I think you should get checked out.

hi I'm at work today and since I work in a gynae dept I had a word with the epu nurse and she just said do another preg test next week and if my pain gets worse I must go to a and e as she can't rule out a ectopic! So I'm none the wiser really! Still no AF just this blackish discharge. X x

Hi kittenlove,
(Please don't hesitate to rant on!!!)

For early ectopics, often doctors just keep an eye on it as there is a good chance your body will reabsorb it naturally, so long as you are otherwise well. But by 6 weeks of pregnancy (so 4 weeks after the embryo transfer), treatment should be offered.
So I can see why the nurse advises you to wait, but do get yourself straight down to A&E if the pain gets worse.

Hopefully, this is "just" a whacky AF, fallout from all the IVF drugs and not an ectopic.

:hugs:

I really dont want to scare you but I can't stress enough how little pain I had and I ended up in theatre for 6 hours and off work for 3 months with an ectopic last year.

My ectopic was picked up after repeat blood tests. PLEASE Kitten go to your GP and ask for bloods to be taken. It probably isn't an ectopic but it really isn't something that should be taken lighty.

I am really not trying to scare you just thinking of your health, I have had 3 ectopics honey so when they say IF you get any pain.......sometimes you don't, sorry to rant but it really makes me cross :cross:

Hi hun

I had this after my failed ivf cycle last month. i had some bright red blood and some black sticky stuff (like tar!). My clinic said some of it may be little clots that formed after EC when the needle goes through and that mixed with AF blood makes it look like loads. It ended up staying for 16 days but it was the first 5/6 that were the worst

Still definately worth getting checked out though hun xxxx

Hiya....I havn't had any red blood at all though! No AF.I guess I will just sit this out. My tummy is hard and a bit rigid. I feel light headed and the black discharge is just strange. I am worried but I can't do anything about it at the moment as it is early days. I will do another preg test on Monday if I dont get my AF before that. [zx001]

Kittenlove: If you were on progesterone and only stopped them 2 days ago that could be the reason you have not yet had a full-on bleed as yet. Some ladies will bleed even with progesterone support but most of the time it will delay the onset of AF and I certainly never bled till 3-4 days (72-96 hours) after my last pessary...

Hi Kimtia.....I am fine thank you. It has been a strange few day's ! Thursday night I was in the shower and a large black blob of something came out followed by a lot of blood. I bled a few hours then it stopped. It has been like that since then until now. I guess I can safely say that must be my AF. My belly is still killing me and I really feel a bit run down.

Hope you are all ok out there xxx
