1st appointment at IVF Wales on 1st April - any advice??...
Hi There
I am 34 years old, df is 36, we've been together for 14 years and 10 years ago I was diagnosed with premature ovarian failure . We have now been referred to IVF Wales and have our first appointment on 1st April. Any advice on what I can expect form this first visit would be great
I'm not yet on the waiting list, so i guess I won't be starting treatment as such for a while.
Although I would love to have private treatment to move things along, i'm afraid i've not got the savings yet for this, though maybe that's something i need to consider if the waiting list is a few years?? We'll see.....
the way in which ivf is funded by the health commission wales is changing soon and this will then be down to your local health board to fund you, will you require donor eggs?
have you seen the newsletter on the ivf wales website
i am currently in the process of setting up a support group to stop wales becoming a postcode lottery...we need patient power

I don't know yet whether my POF is as a result of my reserve of eggs running out or a case of my ovaries having eggs, but have stopped working.
If i've run out of eggs then i'll need an egg doner - I have 3 sisters willing to donate though not sure how this process works, and if this would be possible??
If it is a case that my ovaries have the ability to have eggs harvested then i won't need egg donation - i'm hoping things will be a littel clearer once i've had my first appointment / scan etc.
I know that there is currently a reform of the NHS going on which will mean that in a years time there will be 7 LHBs and not 22 - not sure if this will have an impact on IVF funding too??
I have not yet seen the Newsletter, but will have a look at it today...
i think they will probably do some bloods. they might do day 3 fsh and lh but they do AMH testing on the nhs and this is good news as it should show yur egg reserve
it is possible for your sister to donate
i would write down any questions you have and take them with you so you don't forget anything, i always do it lol

Hi Chick, juts wanted to pop in as another IVF Wales client! They are brill and you'll get excellent treatment there. I had my 3rd and 4th ICSI cycles there, and now I'm very pregnant!
Hope to see you at one of the meets that Kara organises!
