First IUI Monday

Hi everyone
DH & I have finally got our appoinment through this morning to start IUI. I am going on Monday to get a scan which I'm a little confused about. The nurse said that they will scan me for any cysts etc but i dont understand this as I have PCOS so doesnt that mean that I will have cysts????? ?( and if there are cysts I am assuming that they will not carry out the treatment?. She also said that they will show me how to do the injections. I will ask questions on Monday but I am just looking for a few answers from you guys.

I finally feel that I have a little ray of hope after such a long wait.

Hi Debs

I started the injections for the 1st time last Sunday. They've been no problem at all. Sting a little bit but they gave me a device to put the needle in and then you press a clicker button rather than actually push the syringe in yourself. Hopefully you'll get one of those.

Regarding your scan and PCOS I wonder if they'll want to monitor how many cysts you have when you 1st start injecting and the size of them so they can then work out where your follicles are forming when your injections start? Just a guess.

Good luck with it all

Aww thanks very much

My stomach is in knots about tomorrow, I feel sooooooo nervous and I don't know why.

The nurse said that they will show me how to do the injections tomorrow, does everyone inject in the same place? if so where is that place? God you all must think I'm daft but I am turning in to a fruitcake here ha ha.

Thanks for your support xx

Hi Debs

It's only natural to feel nervous, I bet that there is a little bit of excitement and anticpation mixed in with that as well.

I am not sure what the deal is with PCOS but the baseline scan will give the clinic a good idea as to if you can start a medicated cycle.

As for the injections fear not . . .they really aren't that bad and I can honestly say the first one is the worst one. I used to alternate sides and inject a little bit below my belly button!

Come and join us ladies on the IUI CHITTER CHATTER! you will probably see loads of ladies asking simlar questions to yours!

Good luck for tomorrow!

Good luck with the injections and IUI - I have PCOS, and it worked for me.

I was told to alternate legs for the jabs so that they didn't get too sore.

Hi

I had my appointment today and all was well with my scan, the nurse said I have cystic ovaries but not cysts ?( ?(. Anyway I have been sent away with Gonal F and have just had my first injection at 6pm so fingers crossed that all goes well on my next appointment on Monday 13th.

Thanks for all your support everyone and I think I might go over on to the IUI chit chat now

Debs - cystic or polycystic ovaries will have multiple small cysts which are follicles that do not shrink and disappear while a true cyst will be larger - 2 cm or more (I have heard of cysts the size of golf-balls and even up to the size of a grapefruit) - and will be different in appearance (sometimes a bit more fuzzy on the inside as the fluid is different) from a follicle. True cysts are also very often painful...

Thanks Rene, I was a little confused about that ?( Does this mean though that when I go back on Monday after injecting for 7 days, the small cysts (follicles) may stop any further treatment? xx

Just a little update. I was at the hospital today for another scan and my cons said that my right side is responding slowly but my left side doesnt look to be responding just now. My cons measured the 2 follies that I have on the right, I am assuming that this is normal? She also told me my bloods last week showed I am a little polycystic ?(

I have been given another 12 days injections and have to go back on Fri for another scan. I am gettin a little excited now  but keep telling myself not to get my hopes up and get carried away.

ps: I got a parking ticket today X( as I was late and in a blind panic so I abandoned the car in a disabled space :O Serves me right I suppose!
