ssr success rates?

Hi All,

Hoping someone can help.
Dh has zero count , confirmed again today by the clinc.
Just had a few questions I am hoping someone can answer?

1. What is the success rates on average of ssr?
2. if it is , how long on average untill ivf/icsi begins?

Anyone else going through the same at the moment?
Feeling a bit lost.
Thanks x

Oh Holly.....sorry sweetie to hear this. :hugs:

You know my story so given all we had to go on was a reading of zero count and we've had three successful PESAs - that's 100% success of finding viable sperm each time!

As far as when IVF with ICSI starts......it lies in your hands really.

Like a lot of people, my DH had a PESA before a cycle to see if there were sperm but it is possible to time it so that Spud would have his SSR on the day of your egg collection. You can imagine though, that that does add an awful lot of stress to the day.

My personal opinion is to have SSR prior to starting a cycle and for them to freeze the sperm which hopefully thaw well and can be used. It gives you the confidence and comfort that the rest is basically up to your body to do its bit!

I have to say though that whilst it's a GA and a few bruises, my DH has never complained about having repeat PESAs (his sperm haven't thawed well but this is quite unusual).

Time frame-wise....we had our final consultation on 14th August and my DH was booked in for his SSR 31st August....and I started my dowrn regging drugs on 10th September, already knowing that that was my day 21.

Hope this helps Holly. :cuddle

So it seems as soon as ssr is successfull xfingers, it could be as soon as two weeks later!
Thats great to know, so it could all happen pretty quick then , I wonder when the ssr will be? they are calling us tommorow for dates so maybe we will shall have a better idea then.
Sorry could have waited till then but :loony: today.
stupid isnt it really being upset by these results as we already knew guess i was just hoping it may be differnt this time.
Ah well onto the next hurdle i guess! x

It all depends on your clinic really Holly. Once we'd seen the consultant on the 14th and decided to have the SSR before a cycle....I had a period on 21st August at which point I booked in to start on day 21 and they got my DH in for his op basically before 10th September.

When are you next due?
