Hi,
sorry if i have posted in the wrong place but could see an ivm section.

As some of you may know we had our IVF cancelled and told it wasnt for us, i was feeling very down and thought that was it, but we have decided to go for the ivm, i have spoken to my doc at the hospital today and they have made an appointment for us on the 7th april so he can referr us to oxford, i also spoke to oxford and they have said this is the correct way to do it.

So things are looking up again, i even booked a bahamas cruise today for the end of april to help us completely relax before we begin the ivm :smile:

well thats the reason i gave hubby.

I have PCOS we have been TTC for 7 years firstly with 4 cycles of Clomid all unsucessful, then 3 cycles of IUI all of which were cancelled due to OHSS, Just had 1st and last IVF cancelled in february 08 due to OHSS i had over 100 follicles WHAT NEXT Possibly IVM or adoption.

Oh fabulous news hun! I am so pleased for you. It will be fantastic to see how you get on because I don't think we have an IVM er on here. You can pave the way for many more I hope.

There is not much information available about it, it stands for In vitro maturation, its basically ivf but without the stimm drugs, the eggs are removed whilst immature and then matured in a petri dish before being fertilizzed and replaced.

Its quiet a new procedure and from what i know oxfird fertility unit is the only licensed place in the country at the moment but i could be wrong.

Its also cheaper tham ivf because the drugs arent required.

And it is ideal for women with pcos who are prone to OHSS.

It's always exciting when someone on here does something new. It could open up the door to hope for lots more people. I have read very promising things about IVM. Keeping everything crossed for you.

If you google oxford fertility unit, there is quiet alot of info on it, this is also the place where im hoping to go.

That is great news :goodnews:

. I only read about IVM a couple of weeks ago and I am very excited about it as I have PCOS and we are on the NHS waiting list for IVF, we only get 1 try and if this doesn't work and I get OHSS then I wouldn't mind giving it ago or if they say my DH and me are suitable for IVF.

Just want to wish you all the luck in the world, my xfingers

I too have PCOS and have read up about IVM and Oxford as my last IVF was abandoned. I decided to have one more shot at IVF and have responded much better this time (ET was today!) and I had less follies (26 collected). I will really interested to check in and keep up with your progress!
