Welcome to FZ and good luck for the 2ww. I have just done it! Be patient with yourself as it can be frustrating but the 2ww chatter in the 2ww will be full of fellow 2ww'ers!

Hi and welcome, Andrea

The 2WW is a maddening time in which you are very like to analyze every twitch and twinge you have, trying to read into it whether you are going to get a positive ot negative result. If you are like the rest of us, you will also try not to think about it but end up obsessing.

In the end, though, you are not likely to feel any different from before except for being much more aware of your body. You may feel the signs of impending AF arrival - that is neither an indication of good news nor of bad as all of us who have had BFP's will tell you that you feel as if AF is coming regardless of the result. The symptoms of early pregnancy are really in no way diferrent to PMS.
If you are taking progesterone in these early days you may feel your boobs getting sore, you may feel nausea - these are unfortunately common side effects of the drug and also do not prove anything conclusively.
I was a compulsive tester and tested at home from day 7 post insemintation but there are others who are very anti early testing. In the end it will be your choice whether or not you test early. Be aware, in the meantime, that if you had to take an HCG trigger shot to bring about ovulation then you will get a positive urine test up to about 10 days after the injection because of the drug.
Clinics differ in how long they want you to wait before you test and also how you test. My clinic told me to have a blood test 14 days after insem. Other clinics make their ladies wait up to 3 weeks and while some do blood tests other only do urine tests or tell the ladies to do urine tests at home for their result.

It seems common consensus that if you are going to test at home then the best home test is the Clearblue digital - even if it is the most expensive - as it clearly says pregnant or not pregnant and you don't have the risk of reading the result incorrectly.

The need for rest and restricted activity is debateable as my clinic always said to resume normal activity within minutes of insem even to the point of having the insem done during lunch break and then going straight back to work. On my BFP cycle I was hauling boxes, and doing a lot of hard physical activity that I don't normally do during the 2WW starting the day after insem.

If you have any questions please feel free to drop me a PM and I'll get back to you as quickly as I can...

First IUI

Many thanks guys

You are all lovely. You are soo right about the obsessing thing.
I had my insem on saturday and ever since then i have been 100% sure that i am about to have a visit from AF :) i had cramps you know all the signs, i got so upset that i phoned the hospital Fertility unit, silly me. They told me not to worry and this was normal.

I am finding it a little hard at the mo and bless my DP he is trying so hard and i keep biting his head off.

Im sure i will get the hang of all these emotions and eventualy be able to control them.

I have been having scans every other day up till the insem. so i think my cons is taking care of me. (i hope)

im loving all you glittery things and the ticker, how do i get me some of these ?

Once again many thanks for making me feel so welcome

Andrea

Just wanted to say that on my first cycle of IUI it was all a bit of a shock for us between all the scans, bloods and the complete loss of dignity.
You are so not alone when it comes to feeling that you weren't given enough information.

YOU ARE NORMAL.

Lots of love

Still a docs got to do what a docs got to do.

I cant bear this whole 2ww thing, i keep thinking im getting af, due to slight cramp etc. but im told this is normal.

Anyway i will keep you updated hunny

Welcome to fz,
I had my first iui last month, i had the af type cramps all through the 2ww up until 3 days before test day so your not alone.
This Cycle has been totaly different though as i have'nt felt a thing although it does seem more like a 2mw instead of a 2ww lol.
This board is great for info, I actualy found out most of the stuff i needed/wanted to know on here as like you my cons didnt tell me much.
With regards to dignity you just have to leave it at the door and pick it up on your way out :D
Good luck sending you lots of babydust babydust x

Hi, Andrea
Sorry to hear your result.
As to whether you go again immediately or not, that varies from clinic to clinic. I got to do my cycles one after the other but some make you wait for one or two cycles before you try again. Afraid only your clinic will be able to give you the answer...

Hi Wiccan, Hi Dizzy Duck

Im doing much better today my lovelies.

I spoke to my clininc this morning and they want me to go in on wednesday to have a scan, thay said something about starting me on injesctions.

Not sure what to think about that as im not the biggest fan of injection but hey ho.

Clininc shut now and ive sudenly thought, they didnt mention anything about taking the Clomid, im wondering now if i should have started taking them today ? ? ?mmmmmm

God all this stuff is giving me a :headache. im kicking myself as i should have got it clear in my head when i was on the phone to them, you know how it is when you just forget everything.

Anyhow, enough about me how are you guys doing ?

Wiccan, how are you getting on hun not long to go :Prey: for you my darling :dust: :dust:

Dizzyduck, its not often i would say hurry up A/F, but it does help when someone else is on the same cycle as you.
I was quite close to wiccans cycle and this was soo much easier for me, wiccan is great as are you

Let us know what your clinic says. I know with my clinic I have cd 5 scans but all scans are different -either way "dildo cam" as I call it isn't nice either - oh what we put up with eh! :D

Hi andrea!
Hows it going with the injections - im sure it must get easier after the first couple. Sorry to be so dense but I guess the i njections mean that you are cracking on with your next IUI right away? It all seems to be different for everyone! All they said to me was take clomid days 2-6, book scan for day 9 or 10, then do opks and when positive they'll baste the next day - no mention of injections or anything!
My AF due tomoro or sun so will be with you on the treadmill!
Good luck hun - I'm off on hols for a week tomoro but will check in to see how you're doing when I get back

Felling really crap today, had my scan at clininc this morning.
I was really excited thought that the injections were working.
Got 1 Follie but very small only 13mm. Have to carry on with injections and another scan on Friday.

There were so many pg woman at the hospital today and i think thats why i feel so down.

Any way im working tomorrow so at least that will keep me occupied.
Gonna cook some dinner now, although i have to say i would much rather a big fat chinese or a pizza.

Hope everyone is ok

Big :hugs: to you all

Thanks guys

Well i had my scan today, im feeling really poo.

The Folicle was 18mm which they said was good, but they sent me away saying that i needed to test for my LH surge.
Im really confused because last cycle, which happens to be exact same timing as this one, because it was on a friday when they scanned me and they said the follicle was ready they gave me an injection to start off ovulation and i went in on the saturday to have the insem.
but this time instead of giving me an injection they have told me to test for my lh surge, if it happend tonight, which it hasnt, i should go there tomorrow for insem.
So what happens if i get the sutge tomorrow night, next day is sunday, clinic not open on a sundy.
Im so worried that this cycle is going to be a complete waste of time.

Can anyone tell me if this is normal, am i worring for nothing ? ?(

sorry for the long winded rant, i just dont know who else to ask

xxxxxx

Hope everyone else is doing ok today
love andrea

RE: Starting I.u.i

You are not the only one feeling like that. It's my first time too. When I went to the hosp there were many ladies comparing scores etc in the scanning room and I was totaly uuuhhhh what scores?? They were on about there folical sizes etc. By week three you have ya scan and they can see how many folicles you have produced and sizes etc. I gathered from the waiting from that they are looking for a base line 8ish?? and fol sizes 10/13mm but not too many.
I'm waiting now till friday to see if my p comes or not, this has been a really long month for me!!!
