Down regulation and your period starting ....

Hi guys!

I'm currently on day 10 of my down regulating, my period arrived yesterday and i was told to email my clinic and let them know once this had started. I emailed them yesterday and have not heard a peep back from them..they normally are quick at responding but sometimes can take 23-48 hours if not urgent.

Does anyone know what the next step is once your period arrives during down regulation? I think i'll need to have a scan and blood test to ensure full down regulation has occurred before i can start stimming, but how many days after your period arrives does this scan normally take place in anyones experience?

Hopefully someone can advise me..Xxx

Hi yes the next stage would be to have a scan to check you have fully down regulated I would phone up and usually have a scan booked within a few days I don't think it matters too much however as long as you keep taking the drugs as your system will remain shut down. If you havent heard back in a couple of days give them a call. X

Thanks Onewish, my doctor called yesterday and has booked me in for my down reg scan on 26/9 , so that means another 10 days or so of down reg meds before I have the scan and then all being well I guess I start the stimming. He's asked me to reduce my 2smiffs to 1 sniff 4 X a day from now though. Just thought it seemed a long time for the scan but I guess the doctor is doing the treatment he thinks is best for me so will just trust he knows what's best. I guess I would of been down regulating for just over 2 weeks which is normal?!?

I think i need to realise I'm not in control of this process though and need to just go with the flow and let it happen.

Xx

On two of my cycles I was down regulating for over 3 weeks so that the clinic could fit me in with their schedule so don't worry about length of time it will be fine unless you are really suffering with symptoms of course lol!

Yes go with the flow less stress is good. Don't be surprised also if while you are stimming they adjust your meds this always freaked me out especially if they increased the dose but it's fine. On your first cycle a lot of it is guess work as they don't know how you will respond.

Still keeping every thing crossed for you x

Thanks Onewish, yes perhaps that's what's going on.

Symptoms fine apart from really bad headaches that only started in the last few days :-( can I take paracetamol for these when it's get too bad? I've been trying my hardest not to but I didn't sleep well at all last night as my head was just throbbing constantly! Thinking I might take some paracetamol now and nip the headache in the bud now before it gets worse!!

Yes you can take paracetamol, I always did. Sorry to hear you've been suffering though. You will start to feel better once you start stimming. Not long now. X

That's good to hear! I managed to brave the headaches over the weekend and it's finally passed. I think it was made worse from the change in my dosage. But def better now. Thanks for all your wonderful support and advice Onewish, you're a godsend! Do you think you'll be TTC again now you have your little girl? Xx

You are welcome!! I remember how daunting it can be when you first cycle!

I'm glad the headaches seem to have settled.

I would love to go again but we used up all out NHS tries and used all our savings going private to have my little girl! I would definitely do it again even if it made things tight but DP is not as keen so I don't think it will happen. I guess I can hope for a little miracle you never know eh?! Xx
