Cervical Hostility?

Hi just joined here and already have a question :)

I was diagnosed with unexplained infertility 7 years ago and have just today found out there is something called cervical hostility, where basically the cervical mucas attacks the sperm or is too thick for the sperm to travel through easily. I was never told about this at the time and that there are tests for it. So has anybody here been tested for cervical hostility?

Hi, Hun
Welcome to FZ and sorry to read of the difficulty you have been experiencing. Congratulations, also, on your daughter...

I have not had the tests myself but I have heard that it is a post-coital test - in other words you and your DH would BD and you then need to be at the doctor's within 30minutes to half hour and they would take a swab to check the status of the sperm...

Where cervical hostility is confirmed, the simplest form of treatment would be Artificial insemination with IVF and/or ICSI as an option...

Hi :)

Thanks for the reply. So it would be straight to IVF then anyway probably. Just wondered if there might possibly have been an easier and cheaper treatment if that had been the diagnosis.

Hi, Hun
IUI would be the first option if everything else was clear as the sperm is inserted into the uterus and not exposed to cervical mucous at all.
